The goal of this work was to develop a mobile application for Android devices, with the objective of stimulating the cognitive skills of children from 0 to 6 years old who are suffering from learning disabilities, while focusing on the most common learning impediments such as reading and writing disorders. This application is based on games specifically designed to meet the needs of this group. For this purpose, we collaborated with professionals from an organization in the area of A Coruña who established the functional requirements of the application and carried out the validation tests. The application monitored the progress of its users, thus allowing the therapists to track them and adapt the training program to each of their individual needs.

Background: Brain is an organ that is easily affected by the physical changes.Abnormalities are known to occur with the brain in terms of memory, eyesight, intellect, and balance as the brain is an organ that is easily affected by the physical changes. Executive functions have been shown to be related to academicachievement and the ability to learn, as well as a range of a neurodevelopmental disorders. The failure of many traditional educational interventions for students with specific learning disabilities may be attributed to large deficits in executive functions, including working memory and inhibition. Aims and Objective: This study examined how BrainWare SAFARI, a computer-based training, aid students with specific learning disabilities in enhancing their executive functions and specific learning disabilities. Materials and Methods: The present experimental study examined the effectiveness of a specific 12-week neuroscience-based, cognitive skills computer-training program, BrainWare SAFARI, on the cognitive processing of elementary students with specific learning disabilities. Results:The results of this study showed that all students Participants were able to complete a sufficient number of sessions in BrainWare SAFARI experienced significant improvements in multiple areas of cognitive processing. The results showed that the attention level changed with statistically significant while the meditation level was not changed. Conclusion: Thus, this neuroscience-based, cognitive skills computer-training program, BrainWare SAFARI, could result in increased academic performance.

The effects of practicing computerized exercises in class by 59 learning disabled students who received an 8-hr. training program, 30 min. per week, were evaluated. Six exercises designed to facilitate basic cognitive skills development were used. Twelve subjects were assigned to a control group without any form of intervention. Covariance analysis (pretest scores used as covariates) showed a significant effect of training on mental arithmetic. These results suggest that practicing a computerized exercise of mental arithmetic can facilitate the automatization of basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, and multiplication). The nature, progress, and evaluation of such types of intervention are discussed.

The early childhood is considered as one of the decisive stages in a child’s life. It’s viewed as the first building block that shapes the child’s personality in all its aspects, as this is when the child begins to deal with his external surrounding. Moreover, during this period the child's awareness grows towards autonomy. He starts to rely on himself in his actions and movement confidently. What the child experiences in his first years, shapes all his upcoming learnings. For instance, during the preschool, the child starts acquiring new principles and grasps some abstract concepts like solidarity, participation, socialization … The institution also works on promoting all the skills which are related to artistic creativity, recreational and educational activities. And since the intervention at this stage has a great impact on the child’s scholastic success, Its consequences positively affect the child’s health and behavior, as well as his cognitive and mental development. Thus, the recent studies have shed light on the child's cognitive development in early stages. And focused mainly on understanding and identifying the factors affecting this development. A reference should be made that the child's cognitive development is crucially related scholastic success. That’s to say, by promoting the executive functions (inhibition - cognitive flexibility – memory – planning and organizing…) at the very early childhood stage is regarded as the cornerstone for building a child’s cognitive skills and acquiring social behavior. This research study aims to explore the children’s executive functions state at their early childhood stage (preschool children) in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses which needs intervention. The study was implemented by using the CHILDHOOD EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING INVENTORY (CHEXI) FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS. The study participant were 150 children, divided among 10 educators in the second preparatory level at 4 different schools. The latter are part of (The Moroccan Foundation for the Promotion of preSchool education) in the Rabat region. It was concluded that the executive functions of preschool children still need further reinforcement and development by setting up an intervention program.

Not only education is important in developing one’s intellectual and personal quality, but also an influential factor in seeking employment. Therefore, education is even more important for disabled individuals, as it enables them to read and write, communicate, make decisions and most importantly be employed.  However, Dr. Mullai Ramaiah stated that the current Malaysian education system does not only lack in early screening, but also teachers who are equipped to teach and handle children with special needs (Arukesamy, 2017). Therefore, this current study intends to investigate the competency of preschool teachers in identifying children who are at risk of any learning disabilities (LD). This was done by administering a questionnaire survey to examine teachers’ knowledge of some common learning disabilities that usually affects preschool children. In this research, the relationship between teachers’ competency and teacher’s education level has been investigated. Findings from the data analysis indicated that the level of teacher’s competency in identifying children at risk is relatively low. It was revealed, a majority of general preschool teachers do not have any knowledge or acquired minimal knowledge in identifying children who are at risk of an LD.  Findings also show that there was a significant difference in competencies between teachers of different levels of education. Finally, it was found teachers’ experience does not contribute to their knowledge in identifying children at risk of LD.

Cognitive deficits are known to be related to most forms of psychopathology. Here, we perform local genetic correlation analysis as a means of identifying independent segments of the genome that show biologically interpretable pleiotropic associations between cognitive dimensions and psychopathology. We identified collective segments of the genome, which we call "meta-loci", that showed differential pleiotropic patterns for psychopathology relative to either General Cognitive Ability (GCA) or Non-Cognitive Skills (NCS). We observed that neurodevelopmental gene sets expressed during the prenatal-early childhood predominated in GCA-relevant meta-loci, while post-natal synaptic gene sets were more involved in NCS-relevant meta-loci. Notably, we found that GABA-ergic, cholinergic, and glutamatergic genes drove pleiotropic relationships within dissociable NCS meta-loci.

Since autistic children suffers from learning disabilities and communication barriers, this research aim to design, develop and evaluate an Android based mobile application (app) providing better learning environment with inclusion of graphical representation in a cost effective manner. This research evaluate various supporting technologies and finds Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) to be better choice for integrating with the app. Evaluation results reveal that the inclusion of PECS helped the children suffering from Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to better communicate with others. The study included autistic children who do not speak, who are unintelligible and who are minimally effective communicators with their present communication system. The evolution results showed encouraging impacts of the Autism App in supporting autistic children to adapt to normal life and improve the standard of their life.
