Proper quality assessment of ready-mixed concrete, which is currently the principal material for construction, land engineering and architecture, has an impact on the optimisation and verification of correct functioning of individual stages of the production process. According to the European Standard EN 206 “Concrete–Specification, performance, production and conformity”, obligatory conformity control of concrete is carried out by the producer during its production. In order to verify the quality of concrete, investors generally commission independent laboratory units to perform quality assessment of both concrete mix and hardened concrete, which guarantees a high quality of construction works. One of the essential tools for ensuring the quality of test results is the participation of laboratories in the so-called proficiency testing (PT) or inter-laboratory comparisons (ILC). Participation in PT/ILC programmes is, on the one hand, a tool for demonstrating the laboratory’s performance, on the other hand an aid for maintaining the quality of available concrete tests and validating test methods. Positive evaluation is a confirmation of the laboratory’s capability for performing the tests. The paper presents the results of laboratory proficiency tests carried out by means of inter-laboratory comparisons, as shown in the example of quality assessment of ready-mixed concrete for nine participating laboratories. The tests were performed for concrete of the following parameters: strength class C30/37, consistency S3, frost resistance degree F150, and water resistance degree W8. This involved determining consistencies, air content and density of the concrete mix, and compressive strength of hardened concrete. For the evaluation of laboratory performance results, z-score, ζ-score and En-score were applied. The innovation of the proposed study lies in employing both classical and iterative robust statistical methods. In comparison with classical statistical methods, robust methods ensure a smaller impact of outliers and other anomalies on the measurement results. Following the analyses, clear differences were found between the types of detected discrepancy of test results, which occurred due to the nature of individual parameters. For two laboratories, two scores revealed unsatisfactory results for concrete mix consistency. The main reasons can be pouring into the cone-shaped form a concrete mixture that is too dry, or incorrect use of a measuring tool also creating a possibility that the obtained value can be wrongly recorded. Other possible reasons are discussed in the paper. Participation in inter-laboratory comparison programmes is undoubtedly a way to verify and raise the quality of tests performed for concrete mix and hardened concrete, whereas individual analysis of the results allows the laboratory quality system to be improved.

3D Concrete Printing (3DCP) technology, compared to traditional monolithic construction, gives a possibility to increase the workspeed and reduce the manual laborproportion, reduce material consumption and also improve the architectural appearance of buildings being erected. At the same time, more stringent requirements are imposed on the material for 3D printing in terms of rheological characteristicscontrol, strength developmentkinetics, interplay adhesion and some other parameters than for conventional ready-mixed concrete. Therefore, to ensure the mass application of technologies for additive construction production using concrete as printing ink, it is necessary to develop a regulatory and technical base, including the development of standard test methods to determine the operational properties of this typeofmaterials. The article examines the main trends in the management of the materials’properties for construction 3D printing based on cement binders and describes the principles of building a system for standardizing materials for 3D printing construction in Russia, which was developed with the participation of the authors of this article.

In recent years, the static modulus of elasticity is one of the most discussed property of hardened concrete. The aim of this article is to show results of 6 performed experiments focused on test results precision. The measurements were made according to the standards ISO 6784 and ISO 1920-10. More than 20 participants (laboratories) from Europe took part in these experiments. Test results were compared using the statistical methods for interlaboratory comparison. Repeatability and reproducibility, which provide more detailed information about range of expected values of elastic modulus, are the most discussed characteristics in the article.

Abstract Due to a constant increase in generating the amount of sewage waste it is necessary to find an alternative method of its use or disposal. One of such methods can be utilization of sewage sludge in construction materials industry, particularly in concrete technology and other materials based on cement. It allows using waste materials as a passive additive (filler) or also as an active additive (replacement of part of bonding material). The article aims at presenting the analysis of the effect of adding slag, achieved from wastewater sludge incineration in sewage treatment plant, on properties and quality of concrete mix and hardened concrete. Using an experimental method, the researcher designed the composition of the control concrete mix, which was then modified by means of slag. For all concrete mixtures determined – air content with the use of pressure method and consistency measured by the use of concrete slump test. For all concrete series the following tests were conducted: compressive strength of concrete after 7, 28 and 56 days of maturing, frost resistance for 100 cycles of freezing and thawing, water absorption. The use of slag, ground once in the disintegrator, causes a decrease of in compressive strength of concrete samples in relation to the control concrete series as well as bigger decrease in compressive strength after frost resistance test.

Based on experimental results, mathematical models were elaborated to predict the development of compressive strength of concrete with fly ash replacement percentages up to 30 %. Strength of concrete with different types of cement (CEM I 42.5, CEM I 32.5, CEM III 32.5), after 2, 28, 90, 180 days of curing, have been analysed to evaluate the effect of addition content, the time of curing and the type of cement on the compressive strength changes. The adequacy of equations obtained was verified using statistical methods. The test results of selected properties of binders and hardened concrete with fly ash are also included. The analysis showed that concrete with fly ash is characterised by advantageous applicable qualities.

In recent years, with the introduction of powerful HMDs such as Oculus Rift, HTC Vive Pro, the QoE that can be achieved with VR/360° videos has increased substantially. Unfortunately, no standardized guidelines, methodologies and protocols exist for conducting and evaluating the quality of 360° videos in tests with human test subjects. In this paper, we present a set of test protocols for the evaluation of quality of 360° videos using HMDs. To this aim, we review the state-of-the-art with respect to the assessment of 360° videos summarizes their results. Also, we summarize the methodological approaches and results taken for different subjective experiments at our lab under different contextual conditions. In the first two experiments 1a and 1b, the performance of two different subjective test methods, Double-Stimulus Impairment Scale (DSIS) and Modified Absolute Category Rating (M-ACR) was compared under different contextual conditions. In experiment 2, the performance of three different subjective test methods, DSIS, M-ACR and Absolute Category Rating (ACR) was compared this time without varying the contextual conditions. Building on the reliability and general applicability of the procedure across different tests, a methodological framework for 360° video quality assessment is presented in this paper. Besides video or media quality judgments, the procedure comprises the assessment of presence and simulator sickness, for which different methods were compared. Further, the accompanying head-rotation data can be used to analyze both content- and quality-related behavioural viewing aspects. Based on the results, the implications of different contextual settings are discussed.

The effects of agitation and retempering on some properties of fresh and hardened concrete are considered.Data are presented on the influence of agitation and retempering with an air-entraining agent on the workability, compressive strength, and air void system in hardened concrete.The results indicate that although agitation reduces air content and increases the spacing factor, the original parameters can be regained by proper retempering. It is shown that any loss in compressive strength due to retempering is accompanied by an increase in potential durability due to the improvement of the air void system.

Industrial sludge byproducts contain CaO, SiO2, Al2O3, etc. When industrial sludge is used in ready-mixed concrete, the performance of the concrete can be enhanced due to the hydration reaction. In the present study, activated sludge was used to prepare ready-mixed concrete, and its durability performance was evaluated. Once the activated sludge was used, the durability of the concrete improved. Therefore, it is suggested that activated sludge can be used in concrete mix as an admixture.

To investigate the quality of dry soil mixing (DSM) columns in different soft soil areas of east China, a large number of laboratory test results and field test results of DSM columns were collected and analyzed statistically. Furthermore, a quality assessment method for DSM columns is proposed in this paper. The hardness description (HD), standard penetration test (SPT), unconfined compressive strength (UCS), and soil-cement column quality designation (SCQD) are used as assessment indexes. The statistical analysis showed that the test results of SPT, UCS, and SCQD were scattered, particularly in shallow ground. The mean values of the SPT blow count, UCS, and SCQD of the DSM columns decreased with depth: the greater the depth, the worse the quality of DSM columns. The quality assessment results showed that the proportion of the great quality columns was 64.84%, and the proportion of the unqualified columns was 1.4%. The proportion of DSM columns with great quality in the lagoon soft soil area was greater than in other areas. The proportion of unqualified columns in the lacustrine soft soil area was the largest. For all soft soil areas, the proportions of great quality, good quality, general quality, and unqualified soil decreased in that order. The quality assessment of 8627 DSM columns showed the proportions of great quality and unqualified were 64.84% and 1.4%, respectively. It was found that the greater the depth of the DSM column, the more unqualified DSM columns, and the more difficult it was to control the quality of DSM columns.
