Trichoderma spp. is a cosmopolitan group of soil fungi which plays a remarkable role in stimulating plant growth after interacting with plant roots and has good application prospects in intensive agriculture. In this study, rice straw and amino acids improved the population of Trichoderma guizhouense NJAU4742 under solid-state fermentation and helped us develop a new type of organic fertilizer. The effects of this biological organic fertilizer were evaluated in the growth of peppers (Capsicum annuum L.) for two seasons under sandy and mountain soils. In the first season, the yields in T6 (0.06% solid fermentation products in soil) and AT6 (added 0.06% solid fermentation products and 1% amino acid organic fertilizer in soil) treatments were increased by 41.8% and 52.3% in sandy soil and by 51.6% and 46.5% in mountain soil, respectively, compared with chemical fertilizer. During the second season, the same trend was obtained in both sandy and mountain soils. Soil peroxidase activity (125.2 μmol·g−1 dw), urease activity (58.7 μmol·g−1 dw) and invertase activity (13.11 mg·g−1 dw) reached their highest levels in biological organic fertilizer compared to the treatments with chemical fertilizer and solid fermentation products. Redundancy analysis showed that crop yield was positively correlated with enzyme activities, soil organic carbon, total nitrogen, and available phosphorus. Thus, we demonstrated that NJAU4742-enriched biological organic fertilizer could accelerate the transformation of nutrients and promote pepper growth.

ABSTRACTApplication of liquid organic fertilizer formula plus on degraded soil to improve the productivity of the land and chili (Capsicum annuum L.) productionSoil exploitation in large numbers occurred in the District Wanaraja of Garut Regency. Excavation of soil more than 2 meters from the top layer for the manufacture of red bricks has exceeded the ability of the soil to re-establish its structure. So that the soils, which were agricultural lands, can be classified as degraded soils with less fertility and chemical properties. Lans reuse for agriculture requires adequate recovery and fertilizer input. This study aimed to determine the formula of LOF (liquid organic fertilizer) plus used with NPK compound fertilizer on degraded soil to improve the soil productivity. The design used was a Simple Randomized Block Design (RBD) by 10 combinations of LOF plus treatment with NPK compound fertilizer as follows: A = Control (degraded soil, no fertilizer), B = 0% LOF + 1 NPK, C = 0.25% LOF + 1 NPK, D = 0.50% LOF + 1 NPK, E = 0.75% LOF + 1 NPK, F = 1.00 % LOF + 1 NPK, G = 0.5% LOF + 3/4 NPK, H = 0.5% LOF + 1/2 NPK, I = 0.5% LOF + 1/4 NPK, J = 0.5 LOF + 0 NPK, and K = 1 NPK of normal soil that all replicated three times. The results showed that the degraded soil of red bricks required concentration of LOF above 0.5% to 1% when applied with 1 dose of standard NPK. It is able to balance the uptake of nutrients P, Ca, and B and percentage of fruitset in chili commodities equivalent to normal soil. Keywords: Chilli, Liquid Organic Faertilizer (LOF), NPK, Soil degrededABSTRAKEksploitasi tanah dalam jumlah yang besar terjadi di Kecamatan Wanaraja, Kabupaten Garut. Semua perlakuan diulang tiga kali.

Abstract The research aims to find out the effect of pre-germination treatment seeds using rhizobacteria as plant growth promotion of two varieties of red chili peppers in the field. The experiment used a randomized design of factorial groups. Factors studied were varieties (V) and rhizobacteria types (R). The variety factor consists of 2 varieties namely PM999 (V1) and Kiyo F1 (V2). While the type of rhizobacteria factor tried consists of 8 treatment, namely, control (R0), Azotobacter sp. (R1), B. megaterium (R2), P. atmuta (R3), B. alvei (R4), Flavobacterium sp. (R5), B. coagulans (R6), B. firmus (R7) and B. pilymixa (Rs). Each treatment was repeated 3 times, so there were 48 experimental units. Each unit of experiment is represented by 5 sample plants. The data was analyzed using ANOVA and continued with DMRT test at real level α = 0.05. The results showed that vegetative growth and production of chili plants until the age of 45 days after planting in each variety is not dependent on the pre-germination treatment of seeds with rhizobacteria. But the varieties of chili plants used affect vegetative growth and production. PM999 varieties are superior to the Kiyo F1 variety. Pre-germination treatment of seeds using rhizobacteria is relatively effective in improving vegetative growth and yield of chili plants. Among the 8 isolates rizobacteria isolate Azotobacter sp., B. megaterium, B. coagulants, Flavobacterium sp., and P. atmuta relatively effective to provide an increased effect on the growth and production of chili plants.

Plant growth promoting bacteria are known to directly or indirectly influence the development and yield of plants. Studies that show the biotechnological potential of these bacteria as biofertilizers are thus important. The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth capacities of strains M2-7 and LYA12 and define whether their interactions with Capsicum annuum L. increases production. The hypothesis was that the Bacillus licheniformis strains have capacities to promote growth and yield of Capsicum annuum L. First, these strains were evaluated in vitro in selective culture media to detect those direct or indirect mechanisms for plant growth promotion. Then, the effect of both strains on seed germination and the effect of strain M2-7 were studied on the in vivo development of C. annuum L. The experimental design was completely randomized with 3 treatments and 3 repetitions. Data was analyzed with ANOVA and Tukey test (p≤0.05). Results showed that the bacterial strains were able to fix nitrogen, solubilize tricalcium phosphate Ca3 (PO4)2, produce gibberellins, lytic enzymes (amylases, proteases, lipases and esterases), biosurfactants, volatile compounds; and significantly inhibit growth (p≤0.05) of the phytopathogenic fungus Colletotrichum sp. Likewise, the strains M2-7 and LYA12 increased (p≤0.05) by 89 and 78% the seed germination of C. annuum L. M2-7 enhanced fresh weight (235%), stem diameter (308%), root weight, number and weight of fruits (316%), as compared to treatment 1 (Nitrofoska) and 3 (Control). Therefore, B. licheniformis M2-7 strain is attractive to develop the formulation of biofertilizers; aiming to improve yield of some horticultural crops towards a sustainable and ecological agriculture.

Abstract The pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) is a vegetable highly prized in the world for its nutritional properties, medical applications and as a condiment to food. In Ecuador it is grown in several provinces, and in all cases high amounts of synthetic chemical fertilizers are used. One option is the use of organic biostimulants that allow clean productions. This work aimed to investigate the growth and yield responses of the Nathalie hybrid pepper to the application of a leachate of bovine vermicompost (LVCB). Six experimental treatments were tested: unfertilized soil, YaraMilaTM ComplexTM chemical fertilizer, and three dilutions of LVCB (1:10, 1:20 and 1:30 v/v). The growth variables evaluated were the height of the plants, the diameter of the stem, the amount of leaves and the total chlorophyll content at 15, 30 and 45 days after transplantation. The yield variables (length, circumference and weight of the fruits) were measured in four crops. The estimated yield per hectare was calculated from the total weight of the fruits of the four crops and the area occupied by the sampled plants. No significant differences were observed in the growth variables and the total chlorophyll content between the experimental treatments. The estimated yields of all dilutions of LVCB were similar to those obtained with chemical fertilizer and exceeded the soil without fertilizing. The results obtained suggest that the use of LVCB can become a sustainable alternative for pepper production without polluting the environment. Keywords: pepper; Capsicum annuum L.; bioestimulants.

The use of high doses of chemical fertilizers in the production of chili (Capsicum annuum L.) has an adverse impact on the environment, especially in dryland. This study aimed to examine the role of cow manure (PKS), goat manure (PKK), chicken manure (PKA), or a combination of two manures in reducing 25% of the requirement for chemical fertilizer on chili plants. One experiment was carried out in the dryland of Gumantar Village, North Lombok Regency, from May to October 2021. Phonska NPK (15-15-15) chemical fertilizer (PK) at a 1,200 kg/ha dose was used as a control. The treatments tested were 75% PK+PKS, 75% PK+PKK, 75% PK+PKA, 75% PK+PKS+PKK, 75% PK+PKS+PKA and 75% PK+PKK+PKA. The dose of manure used in each treatment was 20 tons/ha. All treatments were repeated three times and arranged in a randomized block design. The results showed that the treatment of manure, especially goat manure and chicken manure, increased the available phosphate (P) in the soil. The growth and yield of chili plants were not significantly different in all treatments, which means that manure could replace the role of 25% of the chemical fertilizer used. These results indicate that manure in the long term can reduce the need for chemical fertilizers to produce chili in dryland.  Key words: chili; dryland; manure; chemical fertilizer; nutrition
