Searching in the Web of Knowledge for “ionic liquids” AND “luminescence” AND “lanthanide”, around 260 entries can be found, of which a considerable number refer solely or primarily to europium (90%, ~234). Europium has been deemed the best lanthanide for luminescent applications, mainly due to its efficiency in sensitization, longest decay times, and the ability to use its luminescence spectra to probe the coordination geometry around the metal. The remaining lanthanides can also be of crucial importance due to their different colors, sensitivity, and capability as probes. In this manuscript, we intend to shed some light on the existing published work on the remaining lanthanides. In some cases, they appear in papers with europium, but frequently in a subordinate position, and in fewer cases then the main protagonist of the study. All of them will be assessed and presented in a concise manner; they will be divided into two main categories: lanthanide compounds dissolved in ionic liquids, and lanthanide-based ionic liquids. Finally, some analysis of future trends is carried out highlighting some future promising fields, such as ionogels.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all aspects of society. Researchers worldwide have been working to provide new solutions to and better understanding of this coronavirus. In this research, our goal was to perform a Bibliometric Network Analysis (BNA) to investigate the strategic themes, thematic evolution structure and trends of coronavirus during the first eight months of COVID-19 in the Web of Science (WoS) database in 2020. To do this, 14,802 articles were analyzed, with the support of the SciMAT software. This analysis highlights 24 themes, of which 11 of the more important ones were discussed in-depth. The thematic evolution structure shows how the themes are evolving over time, and the most developed and future trends of coronavirus with focus on COVID-19 were visually depicted. The results of the strategic diagram highlight ‘CHLOROQUINE’, ‘ANXIETY’, ‘PREGNANCY’ and ‘ACUTE-RESPIRATORY-SYNDROME’, among others, as the clusters with the highest number of associated citations. The thematic evolution. structure presented two thematic areas: “Damage prevention and containment of COVID-19” and “Comorbidities and diseases caused by COVID-19”, which provides new perspectives and futures trends of the field. These results will form the basis for future research and guide decision-making in coronavirus focused on COVID-19 research and treatments.

Nowadays the Web page is one of the most common medium used by people, institutions, and companies to promote themselves, to share knowledge, and to get through to every body in every part of the world. In spite of that, the Web page does not entitle one to a specific legal protection and because of this, every investment of time and money that stays off-stage is not protected by an unlawfully used. Seeing that no country in the world has a specific legislation on this issue in this chapter, we develop a theory that wants to give legal protection to Web pages using laws and treatment that are just present. In particular, we have developed a theory that considers Web pages as a database, so extends a database’s legal protection to Web pages. We start to analyze each component of a database and to find them in a Web page so that we can compare those juridical goods. After that, we analyze present legislation concerning databases and in particular, World Intellectual Property Organization Copyright Treatments and European Directive 96/92/CE, which we consider as the better legislation in this field. In the end, we line future trends that seem to appreciate and apply our theory.

ABSTRACT Context: in the administration literature, it is possible to identify several occurrences of the term enforcement, mainly related to studies of corruption. These mentions, however, are not uniform and often refer to different types of the phenomenon. In addition, they occur without connection to regulation studies, in which enforcement is a central concept. Objective: the objective of the present study is to identify the types of anti-corruption enforcement present in the administration literature in the light of the regulatory literature. Methods: we carried out a reflective thematic analysis on 31 articles in the administration area, selected in the Web of Knowledge database and published until 2017, in which corruption and enforcement appear in a related way. Results: at the end of the analysis, it was possible to identify four types of occurrence of the term in the literature: punitive, market, competitive, and cultural enforcement. These four types have unique characteristics in the light of the regulatory literature. Conclusions: the identification of types of anti-corruption enforcement contributes to differentiate the many ways in which the term is used in the literature. Furthermore, as a study of a typological nature, it offers a way to develop new theories, as well as to carry out empirical studies.

Portlets are interactive Web mini-applications that can be plugged into a portal. This chapter focuses on “portletizing” existing Web applications, that is, wrapping them as portlets, without requiring any modification. After providing some background on portlet technology, we discuss two kinds of approaches to portletization: automatic and annotation-based. Automatic approaches make use of heuristics to automatically choose the fragments of the Web application pages to be displayed into the space available in the portlet’s window. In turn, in annotation-based approaches, it is the portal administrator who annotates each page of the portletized Web application to specify which fragments should be displayed. Annotation-based approaches also allow to supplement the functionality of the original Web application. Each approach is explained by using a sample scenario based on the same Web application. We also pinpoint the advantages and shortcomings of each approach, and outline future trends in portletization.

This chapter is initiated by the continuously growing governments’ effort to transform their traditional profile to a digital one, worldwide, by adopting e-government models using the ICT and the Web. The chapter deals with interoperability, which appears as the mean for accomplishing the interlinking of information, systems, and applications, not only within governments, but also in their interaction with citizens, enterprises, and public sectors. The chapter highlights the critical issue of interoperability, investigating the way it can be incorporated into e-government domain in order to provide efficient and effective e-services. It also describes the issues, tasks, and steps that are connected with interoperability in the enterprise environment, introducing and analysing a generic interoperability platform (CCIGOV platform). Finally, it illustrates future trends in the field and, thus, suggests directions of future work/research.
