This manuscript describes the synthesis and characterization of five new organic–inorganic hybrid (OIH) sol-gel materials that were obtained from a functionalized siloxane 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) by the reaction with the new Jeffamine®, namely three different diamines, i.e., EDR-148, RFD-270, and THF-170, a secondary diamine, i.e., SD-2001, and a triamine, i.e., T-403. The OIH sol-gel materials were characterized by UV-visible absorption spectrophotometry, steady-state photoluminescence spectroscopy, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The reported OIH sol-gel materials showed that, with the exception of the samples prepared with Jeffamine® SD-2001, the transmittance values ranged between 61% and 79%. Regarding the capacitance data, the values reported changed between 0.008 and 0.013 nF cm−2. Due to their optical and electrical properties these new OIH materials show promising properties for applications as support films in an optical sensor area such as fiber sensor devices. Studies to assess the chemical stability of the OIH materials in contact with cement pastes after 7, 14, and 28 days were also performed. The samples prepared with THF–170 and GPTMS, when compared to the samples prepared with RFD-270 and T-403, exhibited improved behavior in the cement paste (alkaline environment), showing promising properties for application as support film in optical fiber sensors in the civil engineering field.

This Study applies to Stöber method for synthesis an characterization of even-sized SiO2micrometer sphere; and then applies to sol-gel method for encapsulation for one layer of ZnO at SiO2spherical surface after regarded it as core so that synthesis SiO2/ZnO core-shell spheres successfully. And observe morphology by FE-SEM and crossection by TEM. The TEM specimen were cut by two-beam FIB. Besides, EDS, XRD and UV-Visible spectroscopy were using for the analysis of composition, crystallization structure, and absorption spectrum, respectively. Experimental results showed that, SiO2spherical surface became smooth after deposition for zinc oxide. The specimen made by FIB more obviously was observed for core-shell distribution by TEM. EDS analysis made us clearly see shell signal with ZnO content, but core signal only is SiO2content. XRD analysis indicated its core-shell sphere signal possessing ZnO content, but UV-Visible absorption spectrometer displayed ZnO has been absorbed in range of UV light, in contrast, it is not absorbed in range of visible light.

AbstractCa2Nd4Ti6O20, a layered perov skite structured material was synthesized via a chemical (citrate sol-gel) route for the first time using nitrates and alkoxide precursors. Phase analysis of a sample sintered at 1625 °C revealed the formation of an orthorhombic (Pbn21) symmetry. The microstructure of the sample after sintering comprised rod-shaped grains of a size of 1.5 to 6.5µm. The room temperature dielectric constant of the sintered sample was 38 at 100 kHz. The remnant polarization (Pr) and the coercive field (Ec) were about 400 μC/cm2 and 8.4 kV/cm, respectively. Impedance spectroscopy revealed that the capacitance (13.7 pF) and activation energy (1.39 eV) of the grain boundary was greater than the capacitance (5.7 pF) and activation energy (1.13 eV) of the grain.

FeAu/ZnO nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by nanoemulsion process with the use of poly (ethylene glycol)-block-poly (propylene glycol)-block-poly (ethylene glycol) as the surfactant. The characterization of the FeAu/ZnO nanoparticles was performed using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, showing that the polymer-laced nanoparticles reveal high crystallinity, excellent dispersibility and well defined optical performance. The process of solvent dispersion-collection of FeAu/ZnO nanoparticles indicates that the nanoparticles possess good magnetic property for applications.

A sensitive benzimidazole derivative fluorescent sensor for nanoparticulate ZnO has been designed and synthesized. The nanocrystalline ZnO, Ag doped ZnO and Cu doped ZnO have been synthesised by sol-gel method and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-visible diffuse reflectance, photoluminescence and electrochemical impedance spectroscopies. The synthesized sensor emits fluorescence at 360 nm and this fluorescence is selectively enhanced by nanocrystalline ZnO. This technique is sensitive to detect and estimate ZnO at micro molar level. Impurities such as Ag and Cu do not hamper the sensitivity of this technique significantly. Keywords: Sensor, SEM, EDX, Impedance, Fluorescence

ABSTRACTOptical and electrical characterization of CdTe synthetized by laser irradiationofamultilayer film of alternately Cd and Te is achieved. Optical absorption measurements evidence the good quality of these films and show that they have behaviour comparable to the single crystal. The influence of the irradiation conditions on the electrical properties of such CdTe films is discussed; they are compared to single crystal from the point of view of resistivity. It is shown that it is possible to prepare by this means samples devoid of impurity states in the middle of the forbidden gap. Finally, the ohmicity of Au, Al, Cr, ITO and non irradiated Cd/Te sandwich contacts is tested.
