The aim of this study was to identify the form of the dependence describing the relationship between rainfall (P) and the curve number (CN) parameter using the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS-CN) method in the mountain catchments of the Western Carpathians. The study was carried out in 28 catchments areas in the Western Carpathians in the Upper Vistula Basin, Poland. The study was conducted in the following stages: determination of the volume of the direct runoff using the NRCS-CN method, determination of the P–CN relationship using asymptotic functions, kinetic equation and complementary error function; determination of the volume of the direct runoff from the catchment area, accounting for the correction of the decline; determination of the value of the efficiency coefficient of the analysed models. On the basis of the conducted study, a strong relationship was found between the direct runoff and the rainfall that caused it. The study showed that the empirical values of the CN parameter differed from the values determined on the basis of the volume of rainfall and runoff. The vast majority of study catchments were characterised by a standard P–CN relationship. The kinetic model was found to be the best model to describe the P–CN relationship. The asymptotic model showed the greatest stability for high rainfall episodes. It was shown that the application of the catchment slope correction improved the quality of the NRCS-CN model.

Lemuru fish is one of fishery commodity that has high economical value and one of fish that most catched by fisherman in Bali Strait. Lemuru fish had been caught in Bali Strait was fluctuating every month and every years. This condition was related with food source of Lemuru fish such as phytoplankton and zooplankton. So this research was conducted to explained the relationship phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance with Lemuru fish catched  in Bali strait. This study focus in Bali strait during March until May 2017. Determination of sampling point used area sampling method while water sampling occured in surface water with pouring method. Total of phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance in Bali strait in March until May had formed the sinusoidal model with their abundance ranged 301 ind/L – 604 ind/L and 7 ind/L – 12 ind/L. Plankton abundance in Bali strait in March until May (transisonal season 1) was categorized low abundance if compared with plankton abundance in another season. The low value of phytoplankton abundance caused by non upwelling phenomenon and grazing process and the low abundance of zooplankton caused by low rate of zooplankton and predation by Lemuru fish. Phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance had  strong relationship with Lemuru fish catched with correlation coefficient value 0.76 and 0.69. This condition caused by phytoplankton and zooplankton are source of Lemuru fish food.

The study was set out to assess the adequacy of supporting facilities provided in private Universities Ogun State from the users’ perspective. To achieve the aim, five objectives were set and resolved, These include ascertainment of the characteristics of students in the private Universities, identification of the basic supporting facilities available in the a private Universities, investigation of the students’ perception of the adequacy of supporting facilities, determination of  the student’s level of satisfaction with the available supporting facilities and finally, examination of the relationship between the student’s characteristics and their satisfaction level with the adequacy of supporting facilities. The population for the study comprised of the students of private Universities (Covenant University, Ota, Bells University of Technology, Ota and Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo). Data for the study was collected with the aid of structured questionnaires which were distributed to three hundred and sixty (360) students in the three (3) selected private Universities out of which two hundred and seventy one (271) representing 75% of the total distributed questionnaires were retrieved and found useful. The data obtained from the retrieved questionnaires were computed with the aid of SPSS (version 20.0) and subsequently analyzed using percentages, mean, RII and multiple linear regression and presented in tables. Findings from the study indicated that amongst the pre-listed support facilities, 23% of the respondents attested to the availability of special facilities for the physically challenged. The study also revealed that students perceived inadequacy in the ambulance response time, number of buses available for transportation, provision of restroom for shoppers, prompt attendance to students in the cafeteria and number of rest rooms available. However, the study showed the students overall level of satisfaction with medical (RII = 0.6768), transportation (RII = 0.6777), shopping mart (RII = 0.6443) and cafeteria (RII = 0.6681). Furthermore, the study discovered a strong relationship between students characteristics and medical facilities (P = 0.000), transport facilities (P = 0.022) and cafeteria facilities (P = 0.001) in one (1) of the sampled private Universities. The study recommends that Management of the sampled Universities carry out regular facilities evaluation and also the provision of more shuttle ambulance, transportation buses, restrooms in the shopping mart and the cafeteria and special facilities that cater to the physically challenged.   Received: 27 February 2021 / Accepted: 4 May 2021 / Published: 17 May 2021

Recently, with the development of information and communication technology and the Internet of Things (IoT), observation technology using sensors is being applied in a variety of ways, such as using a sensor to observe rainfall in an unmeasured area. In this study, the relationship between the rainfall sensor signal (S) and the amount of rainfall (R) was developed through an experiment in an artificial rainfall generator, and the applicability was evaluated through outdoor observation. The coefficient of determination of the relational expression developed through the indoor experiment was 0.95, the mean absolute error was 2.66 mm/hr, the root mean square error was 3.87 mm/hr, the efficiency coefficient was 0.89, and the concordance index was 0.97, showing very high reliability. In the outdoor test results, the error rate was 7.96% when comparing the data from the rainfall sensors in vehicles and the precipitation station, which were not observed at the same location. Despite such errors, it is judged that accurate rainfall observation using a rainfall sensor is possible in an area where a precipitation station is not installed.

The aim of paper is to investigate the impact of woody debris deposited on the river bed on the granulometry of the bed material. The analysis included upstream and downstream sides of the investigated woody debris. The investigations comprised determination of the geometric dimensions of the analyzed wood deposits, determination of the granulometric composition of the bed material in the area of deposition of woody debris, determination of the range of influence of the investigated woody debris on the bed material and determination of the relationship between the geometric dimensions of the woody debris and the extent of their impact on the bed material. The granulometric analysis was conducted using the conventional sieving method. The extent of the influence of woody debris was determined on the basis of the Nash’s-Sutcliffe’s efficiency coefficient. The dependence of the extent of wood influence and the dimensions of the investigated woody debris was determined on the basis of the Spearman’s correlation coefficient. It was found that the woody debris deposited on the bed of the Raba river affects the granulometry of the bed material on both the upstream and downstream sides. The study also showed that the extent of the impact on the grain-size composition of the bed material on the downstream sides of the woody debris is determined to a large extent by the height of the deposited woody debris.

Online learning is learning that takes place in a network where teachers and those being taught do not meet face-to-face. One of the schools that conduct online learning is SMP Negeri 1 Telukdalam. Like other schools, they carry out teaching and learning activities with online learning. Based on the results of an initial survey conducted by researchers in SMP Negeri 1 Telukdalam there are some students who state that there are many obstacles when online learning takes place. In this study, the aim is to find out how the influence of online learning on students interest in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Telukdalam. The type of research used is quantitative with aplication assistance tools SPSS Vers. 16. Based on the results of the study showed that the relationship between the variable X with the variable Y of 0,857 indicates the rxy correlations that occurs between the independent variable and the dependet variable is in a “Very Strong” relationship. (0,80-1,000). Obtained a coefficient of determination () of 0,735 so that it can be shown that the diversity of the depedent variable (interest in learning) can be influenced by the independent variable (online learning). The main objective of this paper is to examine the relationship between the National Intellectual Capital and the Corruption Perception Index. The analysis of the relationship between the NIC and the CPI was conducted for 16 countries: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom and was based on NIC data extracted from two sources (Carol Yeh-Yun Lin and Leif Edvinsson (2010), and the generational approach to the National Intellectual Capital measurement presented in the Report on the Intellectual Capital of Poland). Determination of the strength of the correlation between NIC and CPI represents the first step in evaluating intellectual capital as the factor which may reduce the scale of corruption. Evidence of a strong relationship between NIC and CPI confirms the author's hypothesis that a strong relationship exists, at the same time proving that further studies must be carried out to determine the direction of this relationship. Based on the results of such research (providing that NIC is confirmed to have an effect on CPI), it will then be possible to recommend new methods of preventing corruption through the development of NIC.

SummaryWhen the International Normalised Ratio (INR) is used for control of oral anticoagulant therapy the same result should be obtained irrespective of the laboratory reagent used. However, in the UK National External Quality Assessment Scheme (NEQAS) for Blood Coagulation INRs determined using different reagents have been significantly different. For 18 NEQAS samples Manchester Reagent (MR) was associated with significantly lower INRs than those obtained using Diagen Activated (DA, p = 0.0004) or Instrumentation Laboratory PT-Fib HS (IL, p = 0.0001). Mean INRs for this group were 3.15, 3.61, and 3.65 for MR, DA, and IL respectively. For 61 fresh samples from warfarin-ised patients with INRs of greater than 3.0 the relationship between thromboplastins in respect of INR was similar to that observed for NEQAS data. Thus INRs obtained with MR were significantly lower than with DA or IL (p <0.0001). Mean INRs for this group were 4.01, 4.40, and 4.59 for MR, DA, and IL respectively. We conclude that the differences between INRs measured with the thromboplastins studied here are sufficiently great to influence patient management through warfarin dosage schedules, particularly in the upper therapeutic range of INR. There is clearly a need to address the issues responsible for the observed discrepancies.

Vertical axis wind turbine technology has been applied last years, very long after horizontal axis wind turbine technology. Aerodynamic problems of vertical axis wind machines are discussible. An important problem is the determination of the incidence law in the interaction between wind and rotor blades. The focus of the work is to establish equations of the incidence depending on the blade azimuth, and to solve them. From these results, aerodynamic torques and power can be calculated. The incidence angle is a parameter of velocity triangle, and both the factors depend not only on the blade azimuth but also on the ratio of rotational speed and horizontal speed. The built computational program allows theoretically selecting the relationship of geometric parameters of wind turbine in accordance with requirements on power, wind speed and installation conditions.

Abstract This four-part series of papers addresses the problem of systematic determination of the influence of several tire factors on tire treadwear. Both the main effect of each factor and some of their interactive effects are included. The program was also structured to evaluate the influence of some external-to-tire conditions on the relationship of tire factors to treadwear. Part I describes the experimental design used to evaluate the effects on treadwear of generic tire type, aspect ratio, tread pattern (groove or void level), type of pattern (straight rib or block), and tread compound. Construction procedures and precautions used to obtain a valid and functional test method are included. Two guiding principles to be used in the data analyses of Parts II and III are discussed. These are the fractional groove and void concept, to characterize tread pattern geometry, and a demonstration of the equivalence of wear rate for identical compounds on whole tread or multi-section tread tires.
