Illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing is becoming a growing threat to sustainable fisheries and the economy worldwide. To solve this issue, various efforts on monitoring, control, and surveillance (MCS) have been made at the national, regional, and international levels. However, there is still the lack of measures against IUU fishing vessels at the multilateral level. Here, we assessed the situations of fisheries, and the current systems and challenges of MCS in eight Asia-Pacific countries with a focus on MCS of IUU fishing vessels at sea. Through a literature review and interviews, we confirmed that IUU fishing was linked with the status of fisheries in each country, and that each country implements various MCS measures with different emphases. However, there was a trend of enhancing or newly establishing four areas of MCS: vessel tracking, patrol, onboard observers, and port State measures, with amended or newly adopted laws. We also identified challenges of MCS such as insufficient MCS in coastal areas and fragmented cooperation among the countries. Based on our findings, we advance several recommendations including the enhancement of cooperation among stakeholders, especially fishers, for co-monitoring in coastal areas and the establishment of a communication platform for Asia-Pacific countries.

Without a guideline or structure, conducting a literature review on a psychological construct might become a chaotic process . This canvas was built based on the author's experience in order to help psychological researchers classify, organize, and summarize the information relating to the psychological construct of interest into several essential aspects including definition, classification, measurement, sample, predictors and outcomes, mediators and moderators, interventions, and theories. For each aspect, there are some guiding questions which are expected to help researcher decice which information should be focused while examining scientific documents. The completely filled canvas should depict the status quo of the research on the psychological construct of interest, facilitating the research process.

The objective was to gather information on the status of antimicrobial surveillance in the Asia Pacific region and suggest control strategies. Twenty-one economies of the Asia Pacific region participated in this initiative. A survey was conducted on antimicrobial use and surveillance throughout the region. A workshop was carried out to create awareness about the issue and discuss the implementation of control strategies. Based on the survey results and workshop conclusions, it can be established that there is better understanding of the implications of antimicrobial resistance in the human medicine area. Only few economies take actions to control antimicrobial resistance on a veterinary/agricultural level. To confront antimicrobial resistance, it is critical to raise awareness; cooperation between all countries is needed to apply international standards, to be able to have harmonized public policies. Countries must align and improve their systems for surveillance and monitoring of antimicrobial resistance in human, animals, and the environment.

Tittle: Fish Resources Losses Due to Mark Down Fishing Vessel Practiced in IndonesiaThe impact of IUU fishing has resulted in management disorder of sustainable fisheries and it caused economic loss. Markdown in vessels size is one type of manipulation practices of license in IUU fishing. This study aims to analyze the loss value of fish resources (resource depletion) due to the “markdown” practices in Indonesia. The study was basically a desk study completmenting with relevant literatures review during March – April 2015. Primary and secondary data were used in this study. Data were analyzed using the Schaefer surplus production model approached. Loss value of fish resources was estimated in terms of depletion resource value using the Net Price Method. The research found that “mark down” has led to depletion or reduction of fish resources in Indonesian waters. The estimated value of resource depletion in 2015 reached 9.83 trillion rupiahs and it is predicted to rise into 14.55 trillion rupiahs in 2020. The research suggests the need to accelerate the process of re-measuring the size of fishing vessel as well as to impose sanctions for the disobedience of the rules, so that Indonesia could have a good governance in fisheries resource management with sustainable fisheries resources.

After two decades of Australian VLBI (very long baseline interferometry), high-resolution radio astronomy continues to be an active and fruitful research field. The status of Australian VLBI programs in astrophysics, astrometry and geodesy is reviewed and likely future developments are outlined. In addition to research programs with the Australian VLBI network, a number of successful collaborative projects are underway with overseas VLBI observatories. The inception of the Asia-Pacific Telescope will provide an important formal basis for fostering and extending international VLBI experiments in the Australian hemisphere. The APT will also serve a vital function in coordinating ground-based observations when the Soviet and Japanese VLBI space missions, Radioastron and VSOP, are launched in the middle of this decade. However, continued viable Australian participation in VLBI into the nineties will require new wide-bandwidth recording systems and an Australian VLBI correlator.

ABSTRACT Lateral swivel dislocation, a subtype pattern of dislocations occurring at mid tarsal joint is a rare type of injury. A medially or laterally directed force applied to the forefoot causes dislocation of the talonavicular joint but not subtalar joint. The calcaneum alongwith the remaining foot swivels on the intact interosseous talocalcaneal ligament. The present case report is a more rare lateral swivel type of dislocation of talonavicular joint in a 25-year-old male. The article also presents a comprehensive review of literature and management of such type of injuries of the hindfoot . How to cite this article Kapila R, Verka Ps, Garg Rs, Ahmed M. Previous studies indicated that coastal areas are vulnerable for mosquito-borne diseases. Socio-economic limitations and tidal flooding result in sanitation problems for coastal settlements. Mangrove ecosystems grow on tropical and subtropical coastal areas which can be mosquito breeding and resting places. This study aimed to explore the evidence of the contribution of mangrove ecosystem conditions to mosquito population through a literature review. Articles collection was done by using Scopus, SpringerLink and EBSCO databases. The inclusion criteria in selecting articles to be reviewed are publications in 2010-2020 and containing the words "mangrove" and "mosquito" in the tittle. The exclusion criteria were article in press status, review form (non-original research), retracted status, and the unrelated topics. It was obtained 6 articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Evidence of the association between the dynamics of the mangrove ecosystem and mosquito density is inconsistent. Following future study is needed to confirm and clarify the results of this review, using methodologies and confounding controls that are appropriate both epidemiologically, spatially, and experimentally.

Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing is recognized as global phenomenon and also a major obstacle to achieved sustainable fisheries. The consequences of IUU fishing cost up to $23 billion a year. Developing countries are excessively influenced by this illegal business, to a limited extent because of an absence of monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) capacity within their sovereign jurisdiction. It represents a remarkable loss of revenue, where dependence on fisheries for food, livelihoods and revenue is high. Somalia, having the longest coastline in Africa is badly affected by this IUU. Hence, this research analyses the impacts of IUU fishing to Somalia. It examines the root causes of the problem and how it has affected the whole nation and its people, as well as and how the government and regional administrations are putting efforts on fighting against it. This research discusses the baseline against which successful action to combat illegal fishing can be judged. Document study and interview are the main data collection methods in this research.
