SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENT FEATURES OF HAND GESTURES IN AMERICAN AND KYRGYZ CULTURES

Abstract: This paper highlights similarities and different features of the category of kinesics “hand gestures”, its frequency usage and acceptance by different individuals in two different cultures. This study shows its similarities, differences and importance of the gestures, for people in both cultures. Consequently, kinesics study was mentioned as a main part of body language. As indicated in the article, the study kinesics was not presented in the Kyrgyz culture well enough, though Kyrgyz people use hand gestures a lot in their everyday life. The research paper begins with the common definition of hand gestures as a part of body language, several handshake categories like: the finger squeeze, the limp fish, the two-handed handshake were explained by several statements in the English and Kyrgyz languages. Furthermore, this article includes definitions and some idioms containing hand, shake, squeeze according to the Oxford and Academic Dictionary to show readers the figurative meanings of these common words. The current study was based on the books of writers Allan and Barbara Pease “The definite book of body language” 2004, Romana Lefevre “Rude hand gestures of the world”2011 etc. Key words: kinesics, body language, gestures, acoustics, applause, paralanguage, non-verbal communication, finger squeeze, perceptions, facial expressions. Аннотация. Бул макалада вербалдык эмес сүйлѳшүүнүн бѳлүгү болуп эсептелген “колдордун жандоо кыймылы”, алардын эки башка маданиятта колдонулушу, айырмачылыгы жана окшош жактары каралган. Макаланын максаты болуп “колдордун жандоо кыймылынын” мааниси, айырмасы жана эки маданиятта колдонулушу эсептелет. Ошону менен бирге, вербалдык эмес сүйлѳшүүнүн бѳлүгү болуп эсептелген “кинесика” илими каралган. Берилген макалада кѳрсѳтүлгѳндѳй, “кинесика” илими кыргыз маданиятында толугу менен изилденген эмес, ошого карабастан “кинесика” илиминин бѳлүгү болуп эсептелген “колдордун жандоо кыймылы” кыргыз элинин маданиятында кѳп колдонулат. Андан тышкары, “колдордун жандоо кыймылынын” бир нече түрү, англис жана кыргыз тилдеринде ма- селен аркылуу берилген.Тѳмѳнкү изилдѳѳ ишин жазууда чет элдик жазуучулардын эмгектери колдонулду. Түйүндүү сѳздѳр: кинесика, жандоо кыймылы, акустика,кол чабуулар, паралингвистика, вербалдык эмес баарлашуу,кол кысуу,кабыл алуу сезими. Аннотация. В данной статье рассматриваются сходства и различия “жестикуляции” и частота ее использования, в американской и кыргызской культурах. Следовательно, здесь было упомянуто понятие “кинесика” как основная часть языка тела. Как указано в статье, “кинесика” не была представлена в кыргызской культуре достаточно хорошо, хотя кыргызский народ часто использует жестикуляцию в повседневной жизни. Исследовательская работа начинается с общего определения “жестикуляции” как части языка тела и несколько категорий жестикуляции, таких как: сжатие пальца, слабое рукопожатие, рукопожатие двумя руками, были объяснены несколькими примерами на английском и кыргызском языках. Кроме того, эта статья включает определения слов “рука”, “рукопожатие”, “сжатие” и некоторые идиомы, содержащие данных слов согласно Оксфордскому и Академическому словарю, чтобы показать читателям их образное значение. Данное исследование было основано на книгах писателей Аллана и Барбары Пиз «Определенная книга языка тела» 2004 года, Романа Лефевра «Грубые жестикуляции мира» 2011 года и т.д. Ключевые слова: кинесика, язык жестов, жесты, акустика, аплодисменты, паралингвистика, невербальная коммуникация, сжатие пальца, чувство восприятия, выражение лиц.

This paper explores the common and different cultural globalization experience of the public's everyday lifestyles in seven societies in Asia-Pacific, focusing on the following aspects: connectivity with the world through personal encounters and digital media, English language capacity, support for the forces of globalization, global thinking and concern, the Internet's influences on sociopolitical opinions, appreciation of international food, and national vs. transnational identity. An analysis of survey data is used to contrast public experience of global thinking, global exposure, global diet, and global feelings in two separate developmental states with higher and lower HDI measures in seven Asia-Pacific societies. We demonstrate that individual globalization manifested in everyday life should be understood under a comparative societal perspective as citizens' global experiences are not only a simple matter of personal choice, but are also more a reflection of complex societal conditions.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; margin: 0cm 0cm 6pt;"><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;" lang="EN-US"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The throwing technique that came to be known as the Kharbarelli Pick-up in the world of competitive judo is a good example of how different cultures and their unique grappling traditions have changed the look of this Olympic sport. This presentation of the Kharbarelli Pick-up illustrates and explains the theory, mechanics, and application of this unorthodox, effective and crowd-pleasing throwing technique. The author has an extensive background in sambo and judo and studied this technique for a number of years after seeing it used in international judo and sambo events. The Kharbarelli Pick-up, while considered “unorthodox” and not Japanese in origin, is effective because it exhibits the common elements of using an opponent’s balance and movement in the same way a “traditional” judo throw does.</span></span></span></p>

Советская женская повседневность в 1950–1960-х гг. редко бывает предметом пристального этнографического наблюдения. В центре внимания данной статьи – ее такая важная сторона, как приобретение и заготовка продуктов питания, а именно вопросы, связанные с приготовлением пищи, обеспечением едой детей, родных и близких в условиях возрождавшегося после войны хозяйства Волгограда. Обращение к эго-документам крупного нестоличного региона Нижнего Поволжья позволило выявить и сравнить общее и особенное в повседневно-бытовых практиках приготовления пищи, уяснить отношение самих женщин к предпринимаемым государством попыткам облегчить их домашний труд как хозяек, выявить полулегальные (получение в обход очереди, из-под прилавка) и противозаконные (блат) способы «накармливания» своих семей. По мнению авторов, в условиях скрытого дефицита товаров женщины сталкивались со многими трудностями (очереди, нехватки, лишения), но неся бремя нескончаемых домашних дел, считали порой время, затраченное на них, формой отдыха и досуга. Домашнее, a не общественное питание, было основной формой потребления в провинциальном городе Нижнего Поволжья. Жительницы этого города, совмещая множество социальных ролей, неся двойную нагрузку (на работе и дома), ежедневно выполняли свои обязательства, нанося ущерб профессиональным перспективам, здоровью, отдыху и, не осознавая этой дискриминации, продолжали выполнять вмененные им обществом традиционно «женские» домашние обязанности. Everyday life of Soviet women in the 1950s–1960s is rarely a subject of ethnographic observation. This article focuses on such an important aspect of this life as purchase and preparation of food and issues related to cooking, providing food for children, relatives and friends in the Volgograd region while the economy was recovering after the World War II. Using ego-documents of a large non-capital region of the Lower Volga the study identified and compared the common and the particular in everyday cooking practices, clarified the attitude of women themselves towards the efforts undertaken by the state to facilitate their domestic work as housewives, identified semi-legal (bypassing the queue, purchasing “under the counter”) and illegal (nepotism) ways of "feeding" their families. In conditions of a hidden shortage of goods, women faced many difficulties (queues, shortages, deprivations), but continued to bear the burden of endless household chores, sometimes considering the time spent on them as a form of rest and leisure.

It is common to define egalitarianism in terms of an inequality ordering, which is supposed to have some weight in overall evaluations of outcomes. Egalitarianism, thus defined, implies that levelling down makes the outcome better in respect of reducing inequality; however, the levelling down objection claims there can be nothing good about levelling down. The priority view, on the other hand, does not have this implication. This paper challenges the common view. The standard definition of egalitarianism implicitly assumes a context. Once this context is made clear, it is easily seen that egalitarianism could be defined alternatively in terms of valuing a benefit to a person inversely to how well off he is relative to others. The levelling down objection does not follow from this definition. Moreover, the common definition does not separate egalitarian orderings from prioritarian ones. It is useful to do this by requiring that on egalitarianism, additively separable orderings should be excluded. But this requirement is stated as a condition on the alternative definition of egalitarianism, from which the levelling down objection does not follow.

Since the second half of the 20th century, the rapid change in the world has emerged in the field of higher education (HE) as in many other areas. With international education, countries are preparing the ground for producing science in their countries, both by attracting qualified minds to their own countries and by offering them employment options. At the same time, the international training field, which is a competitive competition, allows countries to seriously increase their education investments and thus improve their quality. Through international education, there is better recognition and interaction among different cultures. In the countries where international students are located, the common cultural and artistic activities of the host students in the classroom, school, and campus and the communication with the public in the settlement will enable the cultures to get to know each other better.

Olympic education is currently perceived as one of the most eff ective forms of upbringing, which is why it should be included in modern pedagogy. It is important because of the values of Olympism and education through sport. When speaking of Olympic education, its origins and precursor should be studied as well. It is worth knowing that it was Pierre de Coubertin’s philosophical and pedagogical concept that played the key role in the development of Olympic education in the world. The values of Olympism, including equality, fraternity, collaboration, friendship, respect, solidarity and striving for excellence are now commonly accepted. The timeless and universal nature of those values, the generally accepted fair play rule that is important not only in sport, but also in everyday life, looking at sport through the prism of social and human values, as well as the common global recognition of the Olympic Games, all may contribute to Olympic education becoming a marvel of modern education.

Active Russian proverbs of the thematic group “Destiny” and their Serbian proverbial equivalents (in comparison with the Chinese language). The article is devoted to the comparison of proverbs in three languages (Russian, Serbian and Chinese) based on the multilingual dictionary of M. Yu. Kotova “Russian-Slavic dictionary of proverbs with English equivalents.” As a result of this analysis, the linguistic pictures of the world of the three nations are compared. The object of the research is the proverb as a linguocultural phenomenon, the subject is proverbs about fate in the Russian, Serbian and Chinese languages. The study reveals the common features of Russian, Serbian and Chinese proverbs about fate (thematic group “Destiny”), and also points out the differences. The work provides a definition of a proverb considered as the object of research in three languages; compares trilingual proverbs about fate in parallels, and also explores full proverbial parallels, proverbial parallels with another internal form (analogs) and lacunae. The common definition of the statutory law, especially in continental law culture, understands a set of regulations supposed to be applicable in all possible cases in the future. Nevertheless, already at the beginning of the twentieth century, this concept was criticized as too idealistic by absolutizing the statute as a unique and exhaustive source of law. Maurice Hauriou (1856-1929), a French academic of public and constitutional law at the University of Toulouse, presented at that time the concept of the statutory law as written custom, therefore a source of law that is supposed to be actualized in particular cases with judge’s possibility to distinguish. The modern concept of the statutory law, inherited from the Enlightenment, is proven to be even more mythical. The paper focuses on the Hauriou’s concept of the statute as a written custom which can be used as a useful tool to describe the reality of contemporary legal practice.
