The term of language attitude is the feeling how people can respond to another language. This research explored the language attitude of Indonesian workers in Cruise Ship Holland America Line (HAL). It was aimed to investigate the characteristic of language attitude by Indonesian workers’ especially in food and beverage department. The research use theory from Garvin and Mathiot (1968) there have three characteristics of language attitudes, language loyalty, pride of language, awareness of the language norm. This research conducted with descriptive qualitative research. The data of this study are the utterances of Indonesian workers in Cruise Ship Holland America Line (HAL). The source of data of this study was ten Indonesian workers at the food and beverage department. Interview was used to obtain the data. The result found that from ten participants, eight Indonesian workers showed negative language attitudes. The others have positive toward the Indonesian language. Realization of positive language attitudes influenced by friendship and place domain. Meanwhile, there were loyal to the Indonesian language by an informal situation to avoid negative thinking and respect each other among workers.

The aim of the research is to find the error of using inflectional affixes in students’ argumentative writing of the fifth semester of English Department of IAIN Metro. This research is descriptive-qualitative research. This descriptive-qualitative research use two sources, primary and secondary data, the primary data is achieved through the argumentative writing text from the fifth students semester of IAIN Metro. Then the secondary data is collected from archival. This research applies Creswell model to analyze the data.  The findings research shows there are 9 argumentative writing result, they have eight errors in using {–s}, 2 errors in using {–es}, 1 error in using {–ies}, 13 errors in using {–ed}, 3 errors in using {–ing}, and there is no error in using {–er} and{–est}. Based on the data, the first error that commonly found in students’ writing production is the use of {–ed}, and the second one is the use of {–s}, and the third one is the use of {–es}. Most of the fifth semester students of the English Department of IAIN Metro have lack of knowledge about inflectional affixes and there are many students who feel difficult in deciding which one is the correct affix for the word they want. It means there are many students of the fifth semester of English Department of IAIN Metro that still can not use the inflectional affixes correctly. The conclusion of the research is the student of the fifth semester of English Department of IAIN Metro need attention to focus on writing argumentative learning and semantic specially ‘inflection affixes’.

This research is motivated by the searching of banten cultural information which is viewed from mathematics aspect is still unfocus, whereas the culture contains the elements of mathematics, mathematics is the construction of the culture. The search for mathematical regularity in Banten culture can be a study that can be integrated in mathematics learning on transformation material. The research use descriptive qualitative research. Based on the results of research, on the object of Banten gate, Banten Great Mosque, Banten Tower, Banten traditional roof contains elements of reflection, dilatation, translation, symmetry, rotation. In Banten gate appears regularity of reflection, dilation, translation. At the grand mosque of Banten it appears the regularity of rotation, reflection, dilation. In the tower of Banten there is regularity of rotation, dilation, reflection. On the roof of the house Banten has the regularity of reflection, dilation, rotation. With the study of banten culture in terms of the concept of transformation, it can be used by teachers in learning mathematics on the transformation materials in schools, so that students are expected not only to achieve the knowledge competence related to transformation material, but also as a form of strengthening character education at nationalist value by having attitude competence love of its own culture can grow and be owned by students as national identity

This study deals with language attitude of Mandailingnese teenagers in Desa Sidojadi Kecamatan Bukit Malintang Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. It was aimed to investigate the language attitude of Mandailingnese teenagers in Desa Sidojadi Kecamatan Bukit Malintang Kabupaten Mandailing Natal, realization of language attitude and the reasons why they have the language attitude such the way it is. This study used qualitative method then the design was descriptive qualitative research. The data of this study were the utterances of Mandailingnese teenagers in Desa Sidojadi Kecamatan Bukit Malintang Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. The source of data of this study was eleven Mandailingnese teenagers who lived in Desa Sidojadi Kecamatan Bukit Malintang Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. Observation and Interview were used to obtain the data. The data were analyzed by using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana’s Interactive Model (2014). Based on the data analysis, the Mandailingnese teenagers in Desa Sidojadi Kecamatan Bukit Malintang Kabupaten Mandailing Natal tend to be positive, they realized their language attitude in three domain, they are family domain, friendship domain, and religion domain. They have positive language attitude because they are loyal  to use Mandailing language, they feel proud to have Mandailing language, and they have awareness of language norm.Keywords: Language attitude, descriptive qualitative research, Miles, Huberman and Saldana’s Interactive Model

Pambiwara merupakan seseorang berketerampilan khusus dalam sastra dan bahasa Jawa yang mampu membawakan acara-acara di lingkungan masyarakat Jawa. Peran sentral pambiwara adalah membawa, mengatur, dan mengendalikan acara. Selain itu, juga bertugas mencitrakan mempelai (nyandra) dengan menggunakan kata dalam bahasa Jawa Kawi. Pada masa sekarang konsep pernikahan Jawa telah berubah dari konsep pernikahan yang klasik ke konsep semimodern. Hal ini mengakibatkan pambiwara harus mengubah sikap bahasanya untuk menyesuaikan keadaan. Penelitian ini berjenis deskriptif kualitatif melalui pendekatan ilmu sosiolinguistik. Penyediaan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode simak. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah metode padan dan distribusional (metode agih). Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam penyajian hasil analisis adalah metode informal. Berdasarkan hasil kajian, ditemukan bahwa persentase penggunaan bahasa Jawa Kawi di kalangan pambiwara berbeda-beda. Persentase bahasa Jawa Kawi yang digunakan pambiwara adalah 3,3% dalam satu rangkaian acara pernikahan. Semakin besar penggunaan bahasa Jawa Kawi dalam distribusi tuturan pambiwara pernikahan Jawa, menunjukkan eksistensi dan wujud pemertahanan bahasa Jawa Kawi.Pambiwara is a person who has an ability in art and Javanese culture. Pambiwara has importance role in the Javanese wedding because he controls and arranges the wedding event in order to keep it running smoothly. Therefore, he has to master Javanese or Kawi vocabularies to create a wise word for the bride. Nowadays, the concept of Javanese wedding has changed from the classic to the modern event. It motivated the pambiwara to change their language attitude. This is a sociolinguistics descriptive qualitative research to analyze pambiwara language attitude. This research uses simak methode to collect the data. Meanwhile, it uses padan and agih methodes to analyze the data. The result shows that the percentage of Kawi that used by pambiwara is different. There are 3.3% of Kawi vocabularies that is used by pambiwara in each wedding event. The result also shows that the greater of the use of Kawi, it denotes the existance of Kawi language maintenance.

The purpose of this study is (1) Describe how the use of homonymy for deviation of meaning as an effort to build humor in meme. (2) Describes a pattern of deviations of meaning that utilize homonymy in memes. This research is a descriptive-qualitative research. The data were collected using the method of simak and technique of notes. Data analysis in this research use method of match referential and connecting techniques to support codification, reduction, display, and interpretation in accordance with qualitative research framework. The results of this research, found the use of relations of homonymous meaning include the word base, derivative, foreign, and slang. Also found a deviation of meaning by utilizing homonymy that occurs due to euphemism, naming, and awarding pause. In addition to homonymy also found the use of homophony and then homography of word abbreviation. There are three patterns used to make deviations of meaning by utilizing homonymy. (1) The abused word is accompanied by text as explanatory. (2) The abused word is accompanied by the picture as explanatory.  (3) The abused word does not appear in the language symbol but the image with the text as explanatory. The holder of the important role of deviation of meaning in the meme is the image and the use of collocation. The right collocation is capable of tricking the reader before finally being startled by a second meaning. Collocation can determine the successful use of homonymy to build humor in a meme. If the meaning of collocation fails to deliver the reader to the meaning presented, then the meaning of the surprise fails to show.

Language misconceptions are still very prevalent among the public, partially due to lack of linguistic education in schools. Language misconceptions can influence language attitudes, including the language attitudes of language-minority children towards their native language. In this study, 5th graders enrolled in a dual language program participated in an 18-lesson language awareness curriculum and completed Likert-type pre/posttest surveys and pretest/posttest interviews. Students’ prescriptive language attitude results are compared to those of an English-instruction control group that did not receive language awareness lessons. Both bilingual and monolingual students believed formal, school-based language to be superior to informal language. Despite having received language awareness instruction, students in the treatment group continued to hold prescriptivist language attitudes. Implications for future language awareness curricula are discussed.

Geometri adalah bagian matematika yang sangat dekat dari siswa, karena hampir semua objek visual yang ada di sekitar siswa adalah objek geometri, tetapi tidak semua siswa menyukai pembelajaran yang menyertakan gambar, sehingga memungkinkan siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar geometri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan kesulitan belajar siswa berdasarkan karakteristik Lerner dalam menyelesaikan pertanyaan geometri. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa dengan kepribadian wali yang mengalami kesulitan belajar di kelas IX A SMP N 30 Muaro Jambi. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penulis sendiri, lembar tes klasifikasi kepribadian, lembar tes kesulitan belajar, dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan siswa dengan kepribadian wali yang mengalami kesulitan belajar, 100% mengalami kelainan persepsi visual, di mana siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menentukan seperti apa bangun datar pada masalah tersebut. 60% mengalami kesulitan mengenali dan memahami simbol, di mana siswa melihat simbol "//" sebagai simbol untuk kesesuaian. Serta 40% mengalami kesulitan dalam bahasa dan membaca, di mana siswa kesulitan dalam memahami pertanyaan yang diberikan.   Geometry is a very close mathematical part of the student, because almost all visual objects that exist around the students are objects of geometry, but not all students like learning that includes images, thus allowing students to have difficulty in learning geometry. The purpose of this research is to describe students' learning difficulties based on Lerner's characteristic in solving the geometry question. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. Research subjects were students with guardian personality who had difficulty studying in class IX A SMP N 30 Muaro Jambi. Instruments used in this study are the authors themselves, personality classification test sheets, learning difficulties test sheets, and interview guidelines. The results showed students with guardian personality who experienced learning difficulties, 100% experienced visual perception abnormalities, where students have difficulty in determining what kind of flat wake on the matter. 60% have difficulty recognizing and understanding symbols, where students see the symbol "//" as a symbol for conformity. As well as 40% have difficulty in language and reading, where students difficulty in understanding the given question.

Kepulauan Riau merupakan provinsi yang terdiri dari beberapa pulau diantaranya Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan dan Pulau Karimun. Modal sosial merupakan serangkaian nilai dan norma informal yang dimiliki oleh kelompok masyarat dalam membagun kerjasamanya. Lingkup penelitian pada pembahasan ini adalah terfokus pada pengaruh modal sosial terhadap perkembangan pariwisata di Kepulauan Riau dalam hal ini Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan, dan Pulau Karimun. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini dikondisikan sebagai penelitian kualitatif melalui strategi studi kasus. Sistem pendekatan yang digunakan juga merupakan pendekatan deskriptif analitik. Melakukan pengamatan langsung, mengumpulkan data-data kemudian menghubungkannya dengan kajian teori yang digunakan. Lokus penelitian ini terdapat di Kepulauan Riau dengan melihat pengaruh modal sosial pada perkembangan pariwisata di ketiga pulau yaitu Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan dan Pulau Karimun. Berdasarkan hasil survey yang saya lakukan di Kepulauan Riau, terutama pada ketiga pulau yaitu Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan, dan Pulau Karimun, dari ketiga pulau tersebut ternyata pada Pulau Karimun perkembangan pariwisatanya tidak terlalu berkembang karena masyarakat yang tidak menerima adanya wisatawan terutama wisatawan mancanegara. Riau Islands is a province consisting of several islands including Batam Island, Bintan Island and Karimun Island. Social capital is a set of informal values ​​and norms that are owned by community groups in building cooperation. The scope of research in this discussion is focused on the influence of social capital on the development of tourism in the Riau Islands, in this case Batam Island, Bintan Island, and Karimun Island. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. This research is conditioned as qualitative research through a case study strategy. The system approach used is also a descriptive analytic approach. Make direct observations, collect data and then relate it to the study of the theories used. The locus of this research is in the Riau Islands by looking at the influence of social capital on the development of tourism in the three islands, namely Batam Island, Bintan Island and Karimun Island. Based on the results of a survey I conducted in the Riau Islands, especially on the three islands, namely Batam Island, Bintan Island, and Karimun Island, of the three islands, it turns out that on Karimun Island the development of tourism is not very developed because people do not accept tourists, especially foreign tourists.

This research is focused on the visual elements contained on Kusdono's Cirebon glass painting. The writer uses descriptive qualitative research methods to examine the visual elements, with the technique of collecting data from books and journals that relates to the research object. The purpose of this study is to examine and find the meaning of Cirebon glass paintings. The results of this research are Semar as the main figure in the clown who always do good, keep the truth and obey the tenet that closely related to Islam. Arabic calligraphy reinforces Semar's figure. On the Cirebon glass painting, there are many mega mendung ornaments and wadasan which are Cirebon batik motifs, as well as the colors used in the coastal colors due to the geographical location of Cirebon City near the beach.

The objectives of the research were to describe the types of speech acts used in televised political debates of governor candidates of North Sumatera, to derive the dominant type of speech acts used in televised political debates of governor candidates of North Sumatera and to elaborate the way of five governor candidates of North Sumatera use speech acts in televised political debates. This research was conducted by applying descriptive qualitative research. The findings show that there were only four types of speech acts used in televised political debates, Debat Pemilukada Sumatera Utara and Uji Publik Cagub dan Cawagub Sumatera Utara, they were assertives, directives, commissives and expressives. The dominant type of speech acts used in both televised political debates was assertives, with 82 utterances or 51.6% in Debat Pemilukada Sumatera Utara and 36 utterances or 41.37% in Uji Publik Cagub dan Cawagub Sumatera Utara. The way of governor candidates of North Sumatera used speech acts in televised political debates is in direct speech acts, they spoke straight to the point and clearly in order to make the other candidates and audiences understand their utterances.   Keywords: Governor Candidate; Political Debate; Speech Acts
