To increase the preservation of biologically active substances, reduce energy consumption in the grinding process and obtain a powder of a given degree of grinding from grape pomace and seeds, it is proposed to use a two-stage disk-ball vacuum mill. The proposed design of a two-stage mill affects the safety of work (excluding explosions) and environmental friendliness (does not create a dusty environment). An important object in the design of the developed installation is the vacuum pump. The device and basic principles of operation of a classic single-stage liquid ring vacuum pump manufactured by JSC "BESCOM" and a liquid ring vacuum pump with the ability to automatically adjust the size of the discharge window, developed at the TSTU Department of MIG are presented. The main advantages of the proposed pump in comparison with the classic version are shown.Based on the tests, a comparative analysis of the developed liquid ring vacuum pump with an automatically adjustable discharge window size and a classical vacuum pump of equal action speed was carried out, the results of which demonstrated the significant efficiency of using the first machine. It has been established that the specific power consumption in the process of transporting plant powders is 20-25% lower with the same speed of action. An economic calculation demonstrates the effectiveness of using a new design of the developed vacuum pump in the technological process of fine grinding of dry plant products due to the vacuum removal of a given grinding fraction. Therefore, the developed pump is recommended to be used for grinding dry bulk plant products at large processing enterprises of the agro-industrial complex, food, pharmaceutical and perfumery industries.

The paper examines the calculation of a liquid ring vacuum pump, using the example of the drying process of various materials. It was found that for two-stage convective vacuum-impulse drying it is economically efficient to use a two-stage liquid ring vacuum pump with the ability to turn off the second stage. A method for calculating the specific power of one-stage and two-stage liquid ring vacuum pumps, taking into account heat and mass transfer and thermal processes that occur during operation is proposed.

Because of the rapid development of nanotechnologies, materials, in particular, solid dispersions (SDs), which are actively introduced into the life of modern man, have been obtained. Special progress in this area is observed in industry and medicine. The use of SDs in agriculture is lagging far behind, despite the growing number of scientific papers on this topic. At the same time, the prospects for the introduction of SDs in the agro-industrial complex are obvious. The review presents the results of research on the development of innovative preparations based on SD to protect plants from diseases and pests of cultivated plants, as well as parasiticides to protect animal health based on modern achievements of nanotechnology. One of these technologies is the methods of mechanochemistry, which improve the properties of poorly soluble biologically active substances by their joint mechanical treatment with water-soluble polymers and auxiliary substances.

Grape seeds are a copious part of the grape pomace produced by wine and juice industry and they represent an interesting source of phenolic compounds. Proanthocyanidins (PAs) are the main class of grape seed phenols and are important dietary supplements for their well-known beneficial properties. In this study enriched extracts obtained from Chardonnay and Pignoletto grape seeds were characterized for their proanthocyanidins and other minor phenolic compounds content and composition. Seed PAs were fractionated using Sephadex LH-20, using different ethanol aqueous solutions as mobile phase and analysed by normal phase HPLC-FLD-ESI-MS. Monomers, oligomers up to dodecamers and polymers were recorded in all samples. For both cultivars, the extracts showed a high content in PAs. The determination of other phenolic compounds was carried out using a HPLC-QqQ-ESI-MS and Chardonnay samples reported a greater content compared to Pignoletto samples. Contrary to PAs fraction, extracts obtained with ethanol/water 50/50 (v/v) presented a significant higher phenolic content than the others.

Grape pomace is the main by-product from the wine industry. It is principally made up of grape skin and seeds. Drying this by-product is the first step for the later extraction of components with high added value like oil or antioxidants. Due to the different characteristics of the components, the study of the drying kinetics of grape pomace must be addressed taking its components into account one by one. For that purpose, grape seeds from the Spanish wine industry were dehydrated in a convective laboratory dryer at 70 °C and at 1, 2 and 3 m/s until a weight loss of 40% was reached. Drying kinetics was determined in triplicate. Modelling was carried out by means of a diffusion model without considering shrinkage and external resistance. Grape seeds were assumed to be spherical. For all the fits, the explained variance was higher than 96.9 % and the mean relative modulus was lower than 1.7 %. Between 1 and 2 m/s, effective diffusivity increased in line with air velocity, although the values of effective diffusivity calculated for 2 and 3 m/s were similar. It seems to indicate that for the experimental conditions under study, the external resistance is not negligible at 1 and 2 m/s and for higher air velocities the internal resistance to mass transfer controls the drying process. These results coincide with those found by other authors when studying different food products.
