The aim of this study is to diagnose and evaluate e-learning quality dimensions (content, accessibility, quality of system used, evaluation, and feedback) from the students prospective in Iraqi institutes and universities after the e-learning system was implemented due to the emergence of the Corona pandemic (covid-19) at the beginning of 2020. The study is based on the following question: Are the dimensions of e-learning quality available in Iraq? Knowing the answer to this question is considered a contribution of the current study because there are no previous studies that addressed the topic. The theoretical part of the research relied on articles that have been published in high-quality journals. As for the data of the practical part, it was obtained through the electronic questionnaire. The number of received forms reached (1016) forms. The study reached a conclusion that the weak implementation of e-learning quality dimensions in Iraqi higher education institutions. The study recommended Iraqi higher education institutions pay more attention to all dimensions of e-learning.

Since March 2020, CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) pandemic has affected many sectors, including education sector at the global level and at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Preventative procedures have been taken, including suspending teaching and training for K-12 and higher education and moving to use distance education as an alternative to face-to-face education, with the continuation of the Corona pandemic, the Ministry of Education decided to consider the e-learning (distance education and blended education) as a strategic alternative to overcome crises threatening the educational process . With the widespread use of e-learning platforms in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the interest of the quality of e-courses increased more than before. Therefore, this study proposes a model for ensuring the quality of e-learning and e-courses in higher education institutions and developing a set of evidence and suggested performance indicators that help those responsible for quality management to verify and validate the adherence to these standards. Dar Al-Uloom University was chosen as a case study of what was implemented during the Corona pandemic and the extent of the university’s commitment to this standards to ensure continuous improvement and raise the level of performance related to the e-learning system and its e-courses.

In 2014, the UK-based Nuffield Council on Bioethics carried out a series of engagement activities, including an online survey to which 970 people responded, and 15 discussion events at universities around the UK to explore the culture of research in the UK and its effect on ethical conduct in science and the quality of research. The findings of the project were published in December 2014 and the main points are summarised here. We found that scientists are motivated in their work to find out more about the world and to benefit society, and that they believe collaboration, multidisciplinarity, openness and creativity are important for the production of high quality science. However, in some cases, our findings suggest, the culture of research in higher education institutions does not support or encourage these goals or activities. For example, high levels of competition and perceptions about how scientists are assessed for jobs and funding are reportedly contributing to a loss of creativity in science, less collaboration and poor research practices. The project led to suggestions for action for funding bodies, research institutions, publishers and editors, professional bodies and individual researchers.

This chapter deals with four different case studies represented by graduate and post-lauream courses run at the Department of Education, Cultural Heritage and Tourism at University of Macerata (Italy). These cases synthesize the research developed in the last 10 years by the teaching staff who have promoted the activation of e-learning in the institution. The choice to present different contexts, from blended solutions where face-to-face courses are integrated with online environments to fully online courses, is framed in a new pedagogical perspective; that is, the need to focus on the methodologies and strategies is recognized as successful in e-learning in order to improve the quality of traditional instruction developed in the presence of higher education institutions. This process shifts attention from “quality of e-learning” to “quality through e-learning.” In fact, the differentiated and flexible use of technologies is aimed at helping students become more involved in the educational setting and to help them contextualize their studies more effectively.

An overview of domestic and foreign literature shows that the concept of quality of services at higher education institutions (HEIs) is the focus. Quality of service is one of the main factors of competitive advantage. Perceived quality of services in HEIs can be defined as the difference between what students expect to receive and their perceptions of what they really get. If HEIs get acquainted with students' expectations, they will have the opportunity to adjust their behavior to what is expected of them, and thus to positively influence on the students' perceived quality of services. Globalization has created a more competitive environment and opened market for HEIs. It affected on ensuring high quality in HEIs. The quality of HEIs is of key importance for a society because the students, employers, and society have the benefits of it, and quality education contributes to economic development of the country.

The purpose of this chapter is to argue that higher education institutions (HEIs) in doing quality assurance (QA) must focus on the critical aspects of quality assurance, the need to look at the advantages, disadvantages, and challenges facing HEIs regarding quality assurance. It is assumed that institutions should carry out quality assurance and accreditation processes for stakeholders to have confidence in them. It also explains in detail what quality assurance and accreditation must entail in higher education institutions (HEIs). The need to maintain high-quality education standards becomes a critical requirement for HEIs to remain competitive in the education sector market. This chapter follows a qualitative approach in exploring quality assurance and accreditation in HEIs. Data will be collected through literature review. Quality assurance and accreditation in HEIs must aim to maintain and raise the quality of education and to guarantee the improvement of its standards.
