Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate several concepts of inward and outward internationalization and their impact on export performance in the context of Malaysian manufacturing exporting firms. Design/methodology/approach – Mail survey was administered to gather data from the Malaysian manufacturing firms that have been identified to have business export trading to the major oil and gas producer countries in the Middle East. A total of 120 respondents were received and further analysis was tabulated. Findings – Findings revealed that the outward internationalization is positively related to economic and non-economic measures of export performance. It indicates that an outward internationalization related to organizational capability has a major contribution to the export performance of Malaysian manufacturing and exporting firms. On the other hand, top management international orientation as an inward internationalization is negatively and significantly associated with economic measures, but not in the non-economic measures of the export performance. Research limitations/implications – The cross-sectional nature of this study may have limitations with respect to examining the direction and causality of some of the variables. The findings are limited to Malaysian manufacturing firms exporting to targeted markets. The significant of this study emanates from its expected theoretical implications to knowledge and practical implications to business and public organization. It lends support to the internationalization theory and contributes to a firm’s performance and enhances their export marketing knowledge with useful implications for international and relationship marketing. Originality/value – The results support the proposition that internationalization of firms from emerging nations are dependent on learning, acquiring and applying the knowledge from other firms particularly from firms originating from advanced developed nations.

Informal settlement growth is a vital challenge for developing countries, which requires monitoring and assessment by urban planners and city managers. Rural migration to urban areas leads to the unplanned expansion that grows within and beyond the city’s official boundaries. Although informal housing (IH) is growing fast, very little attention is oriented toward exploring tools and procedures for predicting its future expansion. Many studies have shown that informal housing is widespread and represents one of the most dominant features of urbanization in Egypt. Modern simulation and modeling technologies provide new methodologies to explore the complexity of urban growth. As a result, many planning models were developed and successfully used to simulate the spread of planned settlements in developed nations. However, the implementation of these models rarely achieves realistic simulation in the case of unplanned growth due to the developer’s field of study and the available resources. The main objective is to simulate the expected informal housing by modeling its causative land use factors in the Greater Cairo Region. This paper develops a predictive model that anticipates the spatial distribution of unplanned growth and where informal housing is likely to occur over a period based on known growth factors. The proposed Informal Housing Growth Model derives its principles from cellular automata and geographic information system technologies. This model uses a multi-criteria concept, including parameters and conditions related to informal growth, and can be adapted to other growth factors.

BACKGROUND Despite the popularity of maternal and infant health mobile apps, ongoing consumer engagement and sustained app use remain barriers. Few studies have examined user experiences or perceived benefits of maternal and infant health app use from consumer perspectives. OBJECTIVE This study aims to assess users’ self-reported experiences with maternal and infant health apps, perceived benefits, and general feedback by analyzing publicly available user reviews on two popular app stores—Apple App Store and Google Play Store. METHODS We conducted a qualitative assessment of publicly available user reviews (N=2422) sampled from 75 maternal and infant health apps designed to provide health education or decision-making support to pregnant women or parents and caregivers of infants. The reviews were coded and analyzed using a general inductive qualitative content analysis approach. RESULTS The three major themes included the following: app functionality, where users discussed app features and functions; technical aspects, where users talked about technology-based aspects of an app; and app content, where users specifically focused on the app content and the information it provides. The six minor themes included the following: patterns of use, where users highlighted the frequency and type of use; social support, where users talked about receiving social support from friends, family and community of other users; app cost, where users talked about the cost of an app within the context of being cost-effective or a potential waste of money; app comparisons, where users compared one app with others available in app stores; assistance in health care, where users specifically highlighted the role of an app in offering clinical assistance; and customer care support, where users specifically talked about their interaction with the app customer care support team. CONCLUSIONS Users generally tend to value apps that are of low cost and preferably free, with high-quality content, superior features, enhanced technical aspects, and user-friendly interfaces. Users also find app developer responsiveness to be integral, as it offers them an opportunity to engage in the app development and delivery process. These findings may be beneficial for app developers in designing better apps, as no best practice guidelines currently exist for the app environment. CLINICALTRIAL

Convergence in growth for emerging nations has always been an important topic of economic discourse. This study looks into the growth convergence of selected basket of emerging nations towards selected basket of developed nations using Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) framework. The findings of the study show that not only the economic indicators of the respective emerging nations are responsible towards narrowing the per capita GDP differential between developed and emerging nations, but also the differentials of economic indicators between developed and emerging nations are important. This helps towards answering the paradoxical question why in spite of taking the best measures the developing countries are unable to match up with their developed counterparts' per capita GDP. Finally, the study shows significant positive relationship between GDP growth rate and carbon dioxide emission.

The increase in penetration of internet and information and communication technology (ICT) along with change in consumer lifestyle and growing population of internet savvy consumers presents an encouraging platform for e-retailers in emerging markets. Education, technology and growing demand from middle class consumers are further driving the growth vehicle of e-tailing in these nations. There is adequate literature available for electronic business in the context of developed nations but applying that knowledge without any consideration of the unique business environment prevalent in emerging markets may spell danger for online traders. Therefore, the proposed chapter focuses on the growth of e-tailing in emerging economies. It talks about the driving forces for success of e-tailing in various developing economies. The opportunities, challenges and unique issues associated with e-tailing in emerging markets are also discussed. The chapter ends with a discussion on the future of e-tailing in emerging nations.

Medical treatment has a high placebo effect depending on the dynamic and/or obstructive nature of fibroleiomyoadenomatous hypertrophy in which the fibromuscular component may be three times as much as the epithelial one (Clark 1937). It is an indubitable fact that androgynoid transexuals do not develop BPH. This means that hormonal balance is fundamental for BPH control, both direct and through growth factors. The following medicines can be used in growth control: hormones, antihormones, organ extracts, vegetable extracts, anticholesteremics. Hormones are testosterone and its active DHT form, oestrogens, progestogens and their inhibitors, pituitary antiandrogens. The following are not to be discarded: organ and vegetable extracts, anticholesteremic antibiotics, long-term use anticholesteremics. Vasoplegic, ganglioplegic, antireceptory and parasympathomimetic drugs are used as symptomatic ones such as: prostaglandin, bethanechol, prazosin, alphuzosin. A specific temperature rise of the prostate obtained through microwaves (hyperthermia up to 11 °/45°C or up to 70° by thermotherapy) offers a 50% improvement rate. It is confirmed that medical or physical therapy is advisable in the initial stages or in very high risk cases: the placebo effect is remarkable and the ideal drug still has to be found.

In today’s society, most if not all sectors digitize and automate in order to become more efficient. The increasing availability and sophistication of software technologies disrupt labor markets by making workers redundant. Within this context, a significant change is companies’ introduction of chatbots as a supplement to human customer support is vital. Chatbots are computer programs that interact with humans through natural language. The purpose of chatbots is to simulate a human conversation in response to natural language input through text or voice. There seems to be no proper guidelines for adoption of chatbots for provision of customer care support services in telecommunication industry in Kenya. The aim of this research was to develop a framework for adoption of artificially intelligent chatbot application in telecommunication industry. This was achieved through determination of the status of implementation of chatbots in Kenya and identification of key metrics that served as indicators for chatbot adoption. The metrics were identified through review of previous technology adoption frameworks and models. The study adopted mixed methods where qualitative and quantitative data was collected using interview schedules and questionnaires respectively. Content analysis was used in analyzing qualitative data. Quantitative data was analyzed descriptively and results were presented using tables. The target population included experts in the field of AI in two telecommunication firms in Kenya. The study sample was drawn, using Delphi technique, from the two telecommunication firms. The descriptive and principal component analysis were utilized. The results of this research study will be crucial to all telecommunication firms in guiding them on the most effective and efficient way of adopting AI chatbot application for customer support services.
