scholarly journals Synthesis and Characterization of Copper Doped Lithium Ferrite Nanocomposite

n this paper copper doped lithium ferrite nanoparticles effectively synthesized using sol-gel technique. The synthesized product was analyzed by using TG/DTA, XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, HR-TEM, VSM and CV studies. TG/DTA study indicates that the thermal stable of the prepared copper doped lithium ferrite nanoparticles. XRD result confirms that copper doped lithium ferrite nanoparticles have development of cubic phase with Fd3m group and also average crystallite size calculated for different ratios using Scherrer’s formula around 40 nm. FT-IR spectra confirm the presence of absorption band of lower frequency (ν2) at octahedral site and higher frequency (ν1) at tetrahedral site of prepared nanocomposites. The FE-SEM image of CuxLi1-xFe2O4 (x=0.2) nanocomposites clearly specifies that the spherical morphology with agglomerated particles and the same is confirmed by HR-TEM study. The EDAX analysis showed that the existence of Cu, Fe and O elements. VSM study reveals that copper doped lithium ferrite nanoparticles are paramagnetic in nature. Copper doped lithium ferrite nano composites exhibits the higher specific capacitance value at 587 Fg-1 for 10 mVs-1 studied from CV.

ABSTRACTThin films of SrBi2Nb2O9 (SBN) with thicknesses of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4 μ were grown by Sol-gel technique on silicon, and annealed at 650°C. The SBN films were investigated by Raman scatering for the first time. Raman spectra in some of the samples present bands around 60, 167, 196, 222, 302, 451, 560, 771, 837, and 863 cm−1, which correspond to the SBN formation. The study indicates that the films are inhomogeneous, and only in samples with thicknesses 0.4 μ the SBN material was found in some places. The prominent Raman band around 870 cm−1, which is the A1g mode of the orthorhombic symmetry, is assigned to the symmetric stretching of the NbO6 octahedrals. The frequency of this band is found to shift in different places in the same sample, as well as from sample to sample. The frequency shifts and the width of the Raman bands are discussed in term of ions in non-equilibrium positions. FT-IR spectra reveal a sharp peak at 1260 cm−1, and two broad bands around 995 and 772 cm−1. The bandwidths of the latter two bands are believed to be associated with the presence of a high degree of defects in the films. The experimental results of the SBN films are compared with those obtained in SBT (T=Ta) films. X-ray diffraction and SEM techniques are also used for the structural characterization.

The nanocrystalline TiO2 powder was synthesized by sol–gel method. The XRD analysis reveals that TiO2 powder was highly crystalline (anatase phase) and nanostructured with tetragonal system. The average crystallite size after calcined at 673[Formula: see text]K is found to be 7.7[Formula: see text]nm. The surface morphological studies using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) exhibit that the formation of nanosized TiO2 particles with less densification nature. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) topography exhibits the uniform distribution of spherical-shaped particles. The energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) confirms the presence of Titanium and Oxygen in synthesized TiO2 nanopowder. The value of optical bandgap of TiO2 nanopowder calculated from UV-Visible spectrum is 3.45[Formula: see text]eV. The presence of TiO2 particles is confirmed from the dominant fourier transform infrared (FTIR) peaks at 621[Formula: see text]cm[Formula: see text] and 412[Formula: see text]cm[Formula: see text].

Abstract Magnetic Co ferrite nanoparticles doped with non-magnetic ions (Zn2+) fabricated by modified inverse coprecipitation technique. X-ray calculations show that the average crystallite size (D) and the average lattice constant (a) of CoZn ferrite nanoparticles increase from 32.33 to 52.87 nm and from 8.39 to 8.41Ǻ respectively with increasing non-magnetic Zn2+ ions from 0.00 to 0.55. Morphological forms and M-O at A and B sites studied by SEM and FT-IR spectroscopy. Measurements of the structural, optical, electrical and magnetic characterization of the CoZn ferrite nanoparticles strongly depend on non-magnetic Zn2+ ions content (y). Non-magnetic ions transform Co ferrite from hard and dielectric nature to soft and semiconductor nature. Values of Coercivity and the remanence decrease as non-magnetic Zn2+ ions increases to the minimum values 955 Oe and 6 emu /g for the sample with Zn = 0.55. Co0.45Zn0.55Fe2O4 is might be suitable for high-frequency applications where it has the smallest value of optical gap, the largest value of resistivity and the lowest value of dielectric loss factor.

Magnetic composites with silver nanoparticles bonded to their surface were successfully prepared using a simple chemical method. By means of a sol-gel technique, nickel ferrite nanoparticles have been prepared and coated with silica to control and avoid their magnetic agglomeration. The structural and magnetic properties of the nanoparticles were studied in function of the annealing temperature. Then, silver nanoparticles were incorporated by hydrolysis-condensation of tetraethyl orthosilicate, which contains silver nitrate on the surface of the nickel ferrite-SiO2core/shell. Samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, SEM, and magnetometry. Results show that the silica covered the nickel ferrite nanoparticles and the silver nanoparticles remain stable in the surface of the composite.

In order to improve the osteoblast growth and bacteria resistance, Zn-containing hydroxyapatite (Zn-HA) and titanium oxide (TiO2) composite coatings were prepared to improve binding between coating and Ti substrate. TiO2 film was prepared on the surface of Ti by micro-arc oxidation (MAO) and Zn-HA coating was deposited on TiO2 using sol–gel technique. Phase structure, composition and microstructure of the surface coatings were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (EDS), respectively. The adhesion strength between the coatings with different Zn content was measured by tensile testing. The results showed that there was no significant influence of Zn content on adhesion strength between coating and Ti substrate.

The aim of this study was the fabrication using a sol-gel technique of a new glass-ceramic with potential use in dental applications. The characterization of the composition and microstructural properties of the produced material confirmed the similarity between the new sol-gel derived glass-ceramic and a commercial leucite based fluorapatite dental glass-ceramic. The produced material has potential application in dental restorations and it is expected to exhibit better control of composition, microstructure and properties due to the intrinsic advantages of the sol-gel preparation method.
