The nanocrystalline TiO2 powder was synthesized by sol–gel method. The XRD analysis reveals that TiO2 powder was highly crystalline (anatase phase) and nanostructured with tetragonal system. The average crystallite size after calcined at 673[Formula: see text]K is found to be 7.7[Formula: see text]nm. The surface morphological studies using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) exhibit that the formation of nanosized TiO2 particles with less densification nature. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) topography exhibits the uniform distribution of spherical-shaped particles. The energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) confirms the presence of Titanium and Oxygen in synthesized TiO2 nanopowder. The value of optical bandgap of TiO2 nanopowder calculated from UV-Visible spectrum is 3.45[Formula: see text]eV. The presence of TiO2 particles is confirmed from the dominant fourier transform infrared (FTIR) peaks at 621[Formula: see text]cm[Formula: see text] and 412[Formula: see text]cm[Formula: see text].

AbstractThis work is about the production of hybrid coatings of the system SiO2-PMMA (PMMA, polymethylmethacrylate). These materials have interesting mechanical and chemical properties useful for anticorrosive and wear resistance applications. SiO2-PMMA hybrids were obtained by the sol-gel traditional process, using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) and methylmethacrylate (MMA) by Aldrich Co, as starting reagents. The SiO2:PMMA ratio was varied from 0:1 to about 1:1 at air atmosphere deposition. The coatings were obtained on acrylic sheets and silicon wafers. A diversity of coatings with chemical composition ranging from SiO2 and PMMA to obtain the SiO2-PMMA hybrids were obtained. Infrared (IR) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), were performed to determinate structural and morphological behavior.

Mixed phase TiO2 thin films of rutile and anatase type crystal orientations were deposited on Si substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. When annealed at 800°C at 1 mbar oxygen pressure for 3 h, the deposited films transform into a single phase of rutile type. Structural and morphological studies of the as-deposited and annealed films were performed with X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy was used for optical characterization of the annealed thin films.

Nanostructured ZnO as a seeded was prepared by sol-gel technique on p-type silicon in various low molarities. Zinc acetate, Diethanolamine (DEA), and isopropyl were use as starting material, stabilizer, and solvent respectively. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) analysis shows smooth surface and uniform layer were produced in low molarities of precursor. The surface morphology of nanostructured ZnO was analyzed by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopic (FESEM). It is found that the nanostructured ZnO were successfully deposited on the silicon substrate with size ~10 nm to ~35 nm. Photoluminescence spectroscopy was employed to study the band gap in room temperature. It shows that very low intensity of PL in 0.05m and 0.1 m. PL intensity become more obvious starting from 0.15 m of precursor concentration.

Polycrystalline of (1-x)ZnAl2O4 – xSiO2 compound with compositions of x = 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20 and 0.25 have been prepared using sol-gel method. Structural properties was investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and x-ray diffractometer (XRD). The AFM images analysis showed that the surface roughness of the highest composition had rougher surface compared with other samples. XRD measurement indicated that the crystallite size also increased with average crystallite size around 18 nm with cubic phase had been found. The dielectric permittivity value were measured with frequency range of 1 Hz to 1 MHz. It is showed that the dielectric value decreased as the freqeuncy was applied to the samples. The performance of the patch antenna showed that the antenna resonated at 3.30 GHz and give-13.87 dB with frequency range about 2 – 4 GHz.

<p>The purpose of this research is to study the effect of the amount of aniline on their photocatalytic activity. Nano TiO2 was synthesized using sol-gel method with TiPP precursor. XRD characterization results showed that nano TiO2 with calcination temperature of 450 °C had size of 13.8 nm with high crystalline. The diffraction peaks of nano TiO2 at 2θ are 24.45°; 37.075°; 47.26° and 53.18°. Nano TiO2 was then synthesized with hydrothermal treatment 24 h of 140 °C to produce TNTs. The results of XRD analysis shows anatase phase with field (004) and (200). The morphology of TNTs begins to form at the calcinations temperature of 600 °C with textural coefficient value of 0.998 3 . Synthesis of composite TNTs/PANI (polyaniline) was done by in situ polymerization technique of aniline which was already contained nano TiO2. The molar ratio of aniline and APS in the synthesis of a composite is 1:1.5 with the addition of aniline of 15 %; 20 % and 25 % (w/w %). Characterization using FTIR showed the stretching vibration of the C=N in wavelength of 1 600 cm–1 to mark the formation of quinonoid compounds of polyaniline. The test of the rhodamine B degradation gave the best results on the 25 % TNTs/PANI composite, with the degradation percentage of 58.73 %. The characterization results using dr-uv proved that the decrease of energy gap in the TNTs/PANI composite which as evidenced with Kubelka-Munk calculation equation that was 25 % TNTs/PANI amounting to 3.19 eV and TNTs at 3.24 eV.</p>

Pentrary alloys of Cu2Zn1-xCdxSnS4 nanostructures have been grown on glass substrate using sol-gel technique. The concentration of Cd has showed obvious effect for characterization study. Field emission-scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and atomic force microscope (AFM) have provide nanostructures of the utilized alloys. Those alloys give good impression about increasing the grain size with Cd concentration increasing, that lead to increasing the surface coarse.

NixZn1-xFe2O4 (x=0.4, 0.6) powders are synthesized by sol-gel technique. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements show their polycrystalline spinel structural characteristics. Both XRD and Atomic Force Microscopy demonstrate the samples are nanosized. At room temperature typical soft magnetism is exhibited by the samples. The reflection attenuation resulting from microwave absorption would reach to 1.9 dBm over the frequency range 6 GHz - 10 GHz when the samples are paved on a 10 cm  10 cm square aluminum plate with a thickness of about 0.35 mm.

Nowdays Barium strontium titanate (BST) can be applied into many fields of engineering. Its properties attracted more researchers to research and apply it into many fields of study. In this work, sol-gel method of preparing barium strontium titanate (BST) has been used. This work was done with 4 different ratio of x with 4 different deposition layers. The main purpose of this work is to investigate the relation between the ratio of barium (Ba) with different deposition layer and the surface of the substrate. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used in whole work to investigate the crystalline structure and surface roughness of the BST thin films.
