This study aims to measure the entrepreneurial intention of Nigerian undergraduates with interest in the predictive capacity of subjective norm. By using the theory of planned behavior, a self-developed questionnaire-based survey was employed. Three hundred and forty-two undergraduates participated in the study. They were selected from six universities across the three geo-political zones in the Northern part of Nigerian, using multi-stage stratified random sampling technique. Pearson Product-Moment Correlation along with Hierarchical Multiple Linear Regression have been used for data analysis purpose. The study finds that all the three antecedents of intention, as mentioned in the theory of planned behavior (attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control) are significant predictors of entrepreneurial intention. The important finding throws light that only about 20% of the variance could have been explained by the used model. Therefore, the study argues that other factors like entrepreneurship education, improved business scenario etc. may be the other possible factors of predicting the intention. Further, the results uniquely showed that subjective norm is the second most significant predictor in explaining the entrepreneurship intention of Nigerian undergraduate after entrepreneurial attitude. This may be attributed to the collectivist culture of Northern Nigeria from where the samples have been collected. Practical implications of the study have been discussed.

Research with the theory of planned behavior (TPB) has typically treated attitude (ATT), subjective norm (SN), and perceived behavioral control (PBC) as independent predictors of intention (INT). However, theoretically, PBC moderates the effects of ATT and SN on intention. In three studies dealing with different behaviors (voting, reducing household waste, and energy consumption) we show that greater PBC tends to strengthen the relative importance of ATT in the prediction of intention, whereas it tends to weaken the relative importance of SN. The latter pattern was observed in relation to injunctive as well as descriptive subjective norms, and it may help explain the relatively weak relation between SN and INT frequently observed in TPB studies.

ABSTRACT  Microcredit programs may have an impact on participants’ entrepreneurial behavior. Thus, an understanding of personal attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control as suggested by Ajzen’s theory of planned behavior (TPB) may enhance the understanding of the impact of microcredit on participants’ entrepreneurial behavior. Thus, by taking into account the participants’ personal attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control in ways that leads to the enhancement of participants’ entrepreneurial behavior, microcredit programs have not only made small loans available to the poor but also helped to enhance entrepreneurial behavior.   Keywords: Microcredit programs, participants’ entrepreneurial intention, participants’ entrepreneurial behavior theory of planned behavior (TPB)

Introduction: Education is the important component in self-management of Diabetes mellitus patients. Nurse as one of the health care provider should take active role in giving adequate education. The aim of this study were to analyze factors influencing nurse’s behavior in implementation of Diabetes mellitus education based on theory of planned behavior. Method: This study used cross sectional design. Population in this study were all nurses in medicinal public hall whose were assigned to give education toward patients in 62 puskesmas induk in Surabaya city in 2016. Sampling technique used total sampling and 112 nurses obtained as samples. Variables in this study consist of attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control (PBC), intention and practice in DM education. Data collection was using questionnaire and observation sheet and also analyzed using spearman rho with α 0,05. Result: Statistical analysis result shows there is significant relationship between attitudes, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control (PBC) toward intention with p value of 0,022; 0,048; dan 0,000 respectively and there is no significant relationship between intention and practice of Diabetes mellitus education with p value 0,194. Nurse’s attitudes, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control (PBC) had positive effect toward intention of Diabetes mellitus education but intention had no effect toward practice of Diabetes mellitus education in puskesmas. Conclusion: Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) stated that individual behavior occurred because of intention that could be affected by attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control (PBC). Future study was expected to use qualitative approach, and related study regarding development of education media in Puskesmas.

Purpose: This study investigates the moderating role of self-efficacy on the cognitive process of entrepreneurship among Vietnamese students. Specifically, this study explores the moderating effects of entrepreneurial self-efficacy on the relationships between attitude towards entrepreneurship, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and intention to become entrepreneurs. Methodology: By adapting the theory of planned behavior and using data collected from 2218 students in Vietnam, the author utilizes a meta-analytic path analysis in order to show that entrepreneurial intention is strongly influenced by attitude towards entrepreneurship, followed by self-efficacy and perceived behavioral control. Particularly, structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to test the model fit and hypothesis. Findings: The study indicates that subjective norms have both direct and indirect effects on entrepreneurship intention. Moreover, although the moderating impacts of self-efficacy on the relationships between subjective norms and perceived behavioral control is insignificant, the research study indicates that self-efficacy moderates the correlation between attitude towards entrepreneurship and start-up intention. Implications for theory and practice: Besides its contributions to entrepreneurship literature, this study also contributes to practices and implications at universities in Vietnam. Originality and value: These findings also illustrate that the theory of planned behavior can be appropriately implemented in the research context of emerging economies such as Vietnam. In addition, the study shows that the relationship between attitude towards entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention is moderated by entrepreneurial self-efficacy.


Halal transportation services is one of the crucial components of producing Halal products. Since Halal is unique and involves elaborate regulations and executions, therefore it requires huge investment. Like any other supply chain, the transportation cost will be transferred to the end users, normally the customers, thus increasing the price of final products. It is notably common to find studies done on Muslim customers and their preference on Halal products, however, studies on Muslims preferences towards Halal transportation could still be considered as novel. By adopting the Theory of Planned Behavior and religiosity; and by taking into account the moderating effect of knowledge, this study aims to identify the factors that lead to the customers’ willingness to pay for the Halal transportation cost. Using a purposive sampling method, the data was collected among Muslim consumers in a prominent shopping complex in Malaysia and was analyzed using Smart Partial Least Squares (PLS). Based on the finding, it is shown that the attitude and perceived behavioral control gave a positive relationship with the willingness to pay for Halal transportation. Meanwhile, subjective norm and religiosity were on the opposite as there were both hold an insignificant effect towards the willingness to pay for the Halal transportation. Knowledge has moderated the relationship between attitude and willingness to pay for Halal transportation, but not for the relationship between subjective norm and perceived behavioral control. It is expected that this study could provide a better understanding of Muslim consumers’ behavior on purchasing for Halal transportation, as well as other Halal supply chain activities.

A large number of muslim population in Indonesia have an impact on the development of muslim fashion in Indonesia and led to the emergence of muslim communities such as Hijabers Surabaya community. Hijabers Surabaya community also linked himself with sharia, such as cooperation with the islamic banking in which all community members will get free sharia account when joining the community.This research focuses on the behavior and attitude of community members towards the use of sharia account by using the theory of planned behavior perspective. This study used Structural Equation Model. Total participants in this study amounted to 150 members. The results obtained in this study is: (1) Behavior belief affect the attitude toward behavior. (2) Normative belief not effect the subjective norm. (3) Motivation to comply not effect the subjective norm. (4) Control belief affect the perceived behavioral control. (5) Attitude toward behavior affect the intention to use. (6) Subjective norm not affect the intention to use. (7) Perceived behavioral control not affect to the intention to use.

The purpose of this paper is to determine the intention of consumer in choosing halal products, particularly for food products. The three main elements in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) consisting of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control is connected to the intention to consume halal products, particularly halal food. This study refers to the two studies both in the Malaysian context. This is a survey-based research. It used a questionnaire for collecting the data taken from  151 active students of Faculty of Economics and Business in Unpad who participated as the respondents in this research. The data were analysed using a descriptive statistics, correlation, chi-square. and multiple regression. The findings show that the three main elements have a significance effect on the intention. This study is unique since it was conducted in Indonesia’s context and the results is slightly different from the findings of the previous one.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the entrepreneurial intention of university students using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and parents' occupation. A questionnaire based survey was employed for the data collection. A total of 1244 students participated in the survey. The sample was a convenience one given that the resources available were limited. The size of the sample allows us to proceed with reliable statistical analyses and produce valid conclusions. The findings of our research showed that perceived behavioral control, subjective norms, attitude and parents' occupation are important variables influencing entrepreneurial intention. The variable that affects entrepreneurial intention the most is attitude. The findings led support to the theory and the hypotheses proposed. These findings indicate that the recommended model can be used to explain a large part of variation in entrepreneurial intention. This study, contributes to the entrepreneurial intention literature providing empirical evidence to help formulate policies encouraging university students' entrepreneurship practices, attracting the interest of both educators and policy makers. This evidence will become increasingly important, as research in the field of entrepreneurship continues to place models of entrepreneurial intentions at the center of our understanding of the entrepreneurial process. Future studies could investigate the validity of the findings reported here, in different contexts using more variables, not included in this study and inquire the potential existence of latent variables which may be confounding the relationships discussed in this paper.

This study is the first to examine the impact of entrepreneurship education (EE) on entrepreneurial intention (EI) among vocational college students in China. Using the Theory of Planned Behavior and the EI Questionnaire the study investigates the relationships between EI, its antecedents and EE. The data were collected by surveying 383 vocational college students in Wuxi, Jiangsu, in the People's Republic of China. The researcher used Least-Squares Regression modeling to find significant positive relationships between personal attitude, perceived behavioral control, and EE with EI. Mediation analysis found personal attitude to partially mediate the EE–EI relationship. The results suggest EE is effective in stimulating EI in China. This study provides implications to policy-makers, vocational institutions, and scholars given the current state of China's economy, recent government policies, and the ongoing debate surrounding the EE–EI relationship.
