In the devolved units in Kenya, despite the formulation of strategic plans, majority of the counties remain underdeveloped with the employees remaining reluctant thus citizens’ demand for better services remain un met. The devolved systems of governments in Kenya have also  been experiencing major challenges in the execution of procurement practices. Counties continue to be criticized for corruption cases, stalled projects, under-development and massive wastage of public resources. All these aspects have been strongly linked to weak procurement management practices which raises concern. The purpose of the study was to determine the influence of contract management practices and procurement policies practices, on performance of Machakos County government. The methodology was descriptive research design that guided the study. The study was carried out in County government offices. The target population and unit of observations was 77 employees in procurement department in Machakos County comprising of senior managers and procurement employees, head of other departments as well budget committee members who were selected using a purposeful sampling approach. Data for the study was collected using questionnaires which were self-administered. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis using SPSS version 24. Tables and figures were used in presenting the data. The study found out that Contract Monitoring and, Procurement policies had a positive influence on the performance of Machakos County. The study also concluded that for Machakos County to perform, the procurement department must be able to properly implement, monitor and evaluate these practices. The study recommends that the management of the county to improve on the level of compliance with procurement regulations compliance.

Employees are a company's strategic asset, and their efforts help the organization to sustain itself in an increasingly competitive world. Previous research has shown that high job autonomy will allow workers to take part in some activities, thereby increasing their willingness and motivation to learn and prepare further. This study therefore sought to examine the influence of job autonomy on employee performance in county government of Isiolo. This study adopted a descriptive research design involving a mixed method approach. Employees in county government of Isiolo formed the target population for this study. At sample of 140 employees was arrived at by stratified sampling. A structured self-administered questionnaire and interviews were used for the study. Descriptive statistics and chi-square analysis were employed with the help of SPSS. The study found that there was a high job autonomy among employees in county government of Isiolo. Findings also showed as a high employee performance in the sample. There was a significant relationship (χ2 = 27.602, df = 16, p = 0.035) between job autonomy and employee performance. The study concluded that job autonomy influences employee performance in county government of Isiolo. The general objective was to establish the Influence of Perceived Supervisor Support on organization performance at Kakamega county government. The study was anchored in the Resource based view (RBV). The study hypothesized that there is a relationship between Perceived Supervisor Support and organization performance. Descriptive research design was applied. The target population was 332 employees of all degrees of the board and supervisory unit. Purposive examining was utilized to concentrate on specific qualities of a populace that are of enthusiasm under examination. A pilot test was directed on 10 employees to gauge unwavering quality of the instruments. Data was examined utilizing Statistical Package for Statistical Scientists (SPSS) programming. To test unwavering quality and legitimacy, a pilot study was directed and Cronbach's coefficient alpha was utilized to set up consistency. A relapse model was utilized to show the connection between factors. The after effects of the exploration were introduced utilizing recurrence, figures and diagrams. The findings of the study, there is a positive relationship between Supervisor Support and organization performance. In Conclusion, that high quality perceived manager aid which include supervisor encouraging on desirable overall performance. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of competitive strategic responses on performance of fast moving consumer goods manufacturing firms in Nairobi County, Kenya. The study employed descriptive research design. The target population was 258 managers of these firms; from where a sample size of 157 respondents was obtained. Data was gathered using a semi structured questionnaire, administered using drop and pick method. This data was analyse using both qualitative and quantitative approaches where descriptive and inferential statistics were obtained. The study revealed that, each of competitive strategic responses; prospector strategy (p =0.047; β =.159), defender strategy (p =0.022; β =.135), analyzer strategy (p =0.013; β =.224) and reactor strategy (p < 0.01; β = .299) has a significant positive influence on performance of fast-moving consumer goods manufacturing firms in Nairobi County. These strategic responses account for 29.82% of change in performance of FMCG manufacturing firm in Nairobi County.

Purpose- This study focused on establishing the influence of voting in elections on responsive governance in Kenya. Its main objective was to establish the influence of voting in elections on responsive governance in Kenya. Methodology- Descriptive research design and positivism research philosophy were adopted. The study focused on a target population of 680 respondents from Eighty-five wards within Nairobi County, and data was collected from the following groups of respondents; Civil society representative, religious representative, ward administration representative, youth representative, women representative, the special interest group representative, a representative of the citizens’ anticipating county services and a representative of the old aged residents were targeted. A sample size of 139 respondents was determined though purposive sampling technique. Primary data was collected through questionnaires and secondary data through published materials. Data was analysed through SPSS and presented in tables. Hypothesis testing was done through the use of t-test. F test (ANOVA) was also conducted to ascertain the difference between groups on study variable. Findings- The study found that voting in elections has a positive and significant relationship with responsive governance. The study concluded that that citizen’s education influences their ability and decision to vote in leaders who are effective in service delivery. The study also concluded that incumbent leader performance influences achievement of county goals. Based on the study findings, the researcher recommends that there is need to establish, County, Sub-County and Ward Citizens Forums to enhance voter awareness of residents in local governance. The forums will specifically enable citizens to engage directly in the planning, policy making and monitoring of service delivery accorded to them. Originality/value – This paper fulfils an identified need in understanding how voting in elections can influence responsive governance. The study therefore recommends that all citizens should be empowered and given the rights to vote in their desired leader. Additionally, free and fair elections should be conducted to ensure that candidates with clear manifestos are elected.

Abstract Performance of housing projects is expected to be good if constructions are done in conformance with specific standards, being of good quality, completed in time, and meeting clients’ needs. However, the fact that houses are constructed through the use of improper time-frames, poor materials, as well as inadequate planning affects overall quality of the projects. This study was to investigate how contractors’ management practices influence housing projects performance in Kisii County. The study employed a descriptive study design. The target population was the 206 registered contractors in Kisii County from where a sample of 136 respondents was taken through simple random sampling approach. A questionnaire was used to collect data and the data obtained was cleaned, sorted and organized using SPSS. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse data. The results obtained showed that housing construction projects are affected by contractors’ management practices which include planning practices, conformance to industry standards, implementation of designs, and financial management practices respectively which were found to have a positive influence on projects performance. The possible beneficiaries of the study include academicians in the field of project management and contractors.

The purpose of this research was to find out the influence of technology usability on digital banking adoption by customers of selected commercial banks in Nakuru town. It was guided by the Technological Acceptance Model and employed the descriptive research design. The target population was 192,138 bank customers from three Commercial Banks namely Barclays, Equity, and KCB located in Nakuru Town. A sample of 138 customers was determined using the Cochran formulae and selected using clustered and systematic sampling techniques. Primary data was collected using semi-structured questionnaires. Quantitative data was analysed using descriptive and logistic regression method while qualitative data was analysed using the thematic content analysis technique. Finding revealed that technology usability (W2= 19.399, sig= .044), has a statically significant and positive influence on digital banking adoption by bank customers in the study area. Customers who found digital technology to have high usability were 3.27 times more likely to adopt digital banking technology than customers who felt that the technologies have low usability The study recommends that banks should design simple and easy to use platforms so as to increase usability. They should also educate customers on how to use the digital banking services.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of risk evaluation on performance of financial institutions.Methodology: The study used explanatory research design. The study used stratified random sampling to select respondents from target population comprising of managers of 46 commercial banks, 52 Micro Finance institutions (MFIs) and 200 SACCOs and a sample size of 239 respondents obtained. Data was collected using questionnaires. Descriptive statistics was presented, while inferential statistics was done using Pearson product moment correlation.Results: There was a positive influence of risk evaluation [r = .813, p<.05] on the performance of financial institutions was obtained. The risk evaluation positively influenced the performance of financial institutions. The risk evaluation had positive relationship with performance of financial institutions (P<0.05). The null hypothesis HO3 stating that there is no significant effect of risk evaluation on performance of financial institutions was rejected. This indicates that for each increase in the risk evaluation, there is 0.821 increase in performance of financial institutions.Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study has established the importance of ownership structure as a system of corporate governance that significantly moderates the relationship between risk management practices and performance of financial institutions can exploit various risk management practices identification, analysis, evaluation and monitoring should be enhanced so as to bring efficiency in the performance of financial institutions. These may be achieved through establishment and implementation of risk identification, analysis, evaluation and monitoring policy framework which will significantly influence performance of financial institutions and enhance shareholder capabilities to evaluate all risks that can hinder the financial institutions from achieving their set objectives

The support of tourism stakeholders is essential for the development, successful operation, and long-term sustainability of tourism. The aim of this paper was to establish how stakeholder involvement influence tourism sector performance the purpose of getting a deeper understanding of what different stakeholders perceive on their involvement and the benefits that they have gotten or brought to the sector. The theory guiding this paper was an integrated model of destination competitiveness. A descriptive research design was used for the study. The target population consisted of employees of hotels, officials of tour firms and officers in the ministry of tourism in the County Government of West Pokot. Systematic stratified sampling was used and a total of 41 respondents selected. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data from the respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. From the R2 was 0.444 meaning that Stakeholder participation predicted 44.4% of tourism performance in West Pokot County and therefore the Counter government should always consider the stakeholders in matters to do with tourism so as to improve its performance.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the determinants influencing pension fund investment performance in Kenya.Methodology: The study employed a descriptive research design. The study target population was all the 33 registered pension funds in Kenya, and the sample size was 66 senior employees involved in decision making. The study adopted a census approach and therefore data was collected from all the 33 registered pension funds. A questionnaire was used to collect primary data from the selected respondents. The data collected was analyzed using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 23.0. The software was used to produce frequencies, descriptive and inferential statistics which was used to derive generalizations and conclusions regarding the population. Multiple linear regression model was used to measure the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable. The study findings were presented using figures and tables.Results: The study findings revealed a positive and significant relationship between diversification decisions, management competency, investment strategies, regulation compliance and investment performance of pension funds in Kenya.Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study recommended that the management of pension funds should establish a strong organization structure and policy implementation, which will enhance their portfolio composition; the firms should have highly competent management; should incorporate investment literacy and capability programs in their organizations; and should continue adhering to the set regulations.
