Paediatric dental patients demand special care and wider vision while treatment planning due to ongoing growth of jaw bones and existing permanent tooth buds within the bone. Tooth loss is very common even in younger age patients due to extensive tooth decay or as a result of traumatic dental injuries. Implants are in high demand to restore the lost tooth but use of implants is limited to adults or older age group. Thus auto-transplantation may be an intermediate or permanent treatment option to such cases due simple, less time consuming and cost effectiveness. Sidewise auto-transplantation maintains the bone dimensions to make it available further treatment on failure. Present review article include all the required facts about auto-transplantion.

Dental trauma is a very frequent occurrence in children and adolescents, which creates a great impact on the esthetics, functions, and phonetics. Traumatic dental injuries can range from simple enamel fractures to permanent tooth loss. This case report presents an eight-year-old patient with an uncomplicated crown fracture of tooth 21, and 30 days after trauma, it was diagnosed as necrotic pulp. The first treatment choice was a regenerative endodontic procedure (REP), however, the failure led to apexification with Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA). The chosen rehabilitation was a composite veneer. Concerning the available literature and fracture enamel dentin, the treatment approach proposed for the case provided good functional and esthetic outcomes.

Tooth loss after traumatic dental injuries (TDI) often requires rehabilitation with a multidisciplinary treatment plan. In growing patients, the therapeutic approach may be different than in adults; the scientific literature offers alternative solutions even if they involve long, complex and uncomfortable treatments. Among the possible therapeutic options, implant-prosthetic treatment through the use of mini-implants is presented in this complex case report with a 14-year follow-up.

Abstract Purpose Dental injuries (DIs) are associated with facial fractures, particularly mandibular fractures. As paediatric mandibular fractures have special features, we sought to clarify the occurrence and types of DIs among this patient group. We assessed how age, injury type, and fracture location affects the occurrence of DIs and thereby defined which patients are most susceptible. Methods This retrospective study included patients < 18 years with a recent mandibular fracture. Predictor variables were gender, age group, mechanism of injury, type of mandibular fracture, and other associated facial fracture(s). Types and locations of DIs and tooth loss due to injury were also reported. Results DIs were detected in 34.7% (n = 41) out of 118 patients. Patients with tooth injury had on average 3.5 injured teeth. A total of 16.2% of injured teeth were lost, typically at the time of the injury. Loss of at least one tooth was seen in approximately 10% of patients. Avulsion was the most common cause of tooth loss (52.2%). Non-complicated crown fracture (50.7%) was the most common DI type. Statistically significant associations between studied variables and DIs were not detected. Conclusion DIs are common and often multiple in paediatric mandibular fracture patients regardless of background factors. DIs often lead to tooth loss. Prompt replantation of an avulsed tooth, early detection of DIs, and prevention of tooth loss whenever possible are important to avoid permanent tooth defects.

Herbal tooth powders consisting of various ingredients that are available in the market in a wide range. Hence modern methods focusing on these aspects are useful for the standardization of herbs and their formulations. Consumers believed by using herbal-based toothpowders are safe, effective, and less toxic. This study is thus aimed to provide an alternative to the consumer and formulate herbal tooth powder using Clove, Neem Stem, Acacia Stem, Stevia Leaf, Mustard Oil, Salt, Ginger and Amla. The oral cavity infections are the most common types of infections. Dental caries is an infectious disease, causes damage and infection of enamel and dentine. If it is not treated, the infection continues and will lead to tooth loss. The mouth contains normal flora of opportunistic bacteria that are normally non-pathogenic. The imbalance of this situation causes infection and tooth decay. Streptococcus mutants are considered as the main species involved in the development of dental caries. S. mutants, acid-producing bacteria, causes fermentation of carbohydrates which results in tooth decay. Therefore, in the present work, the following aspects of Herbal tooth powders were planned for the formulation, standardization of herbal tooth powder, and anti-bacterial screening of the extracts of herbal tooth powder.
