This research was conducted from February to May 2019. The purpose of this study was to determine the network structure of striped catfish fed with turmeric flour before and after being tested with Aeromonas hydrophila. Sampling of histopathological preparations was carried out 2 times, namely at the beginning of maintenance, 30 days of maintenance and 14 days after the challenge test. The observed organ was the liver. The results of histological observations of catfish liver for 30 days of maintenance and fed with turmeric flour were still good. The structure of liver tissue after being challenged in treatment P1, P2 and P3 suffered damage such as hypertrophy, vacuole degeneration and necrosis. The best dose of adding turmeric flour to feed is 0.7 g / kg (P2) with the least damage.Key words: Striped fish, histopathology, liver, necrosis, turmeric flour

Methanol, ethanol and formalin are commonly used as fixatives to preserve biological tissues from decay in the preparation of histological sections. Fixation of the inner layers of the tissue depends on the ability of the fixative to diffuse into the tissue. It is unknown whether methanol penetrates tissues at similar rates to other fixatives. This study aimed to compare the penetration rates of methanol, ethanol and formalin into bovine heart and liver tissues. The penetration distance and tissue shrinkage or expansion were measured by analysing the digital images of tissue before and after immersion in different fixatives for 1, 2, 6 or 10 h. Data were analysed using two-way ANOVA, followed by Bonferroni’s post-hoc test. The penetration distance of methanol was significantly greater in both heart and liver tissues compared with that of ethanol (N=4, P<0.001). Methanol or ethanol immersion led to similar shrinkage of both tissues (P>0.05). The penetration rate of formalin was similar to that of ethanol in both tissues however it was significantly slower than methanol (N=4, P<0.005 in the heart; P<0.001 in the liver). The mean penetration coefficients of methanol, formalin and ethanol in the heart tissue were 2.609, 1.994 and 1.801, respectively, and 3.012, 2.153 and 2.113, respectively, in the liver tissue. The penetration coefficient of methanol was significantly greater than that of ethanol or formalin in both tissues (P<0.001 for each comparison). In conclusion, methanol penetrates tissue significantly faster than ethanol and formalin.

Objectives of this research was to know the effect of probiotic A3-51 supplementation on food to the total number of bacteria in kidney and mortality of Oreochromis niloticus after challenge test with Aeromonas hydrophila and Aeromonas salmonicida achromogenes. This research was consisted of two experiment, the first was to know the highest immunity level of fish based on the number of macrophage and its phagocytic activity. Meanwhile, the second was to know the immunity level of fish challenged with A. hydrophila and A. salmonicida achromogenes by intra-peritoneal injection. The experiment used Completely Randomized Design in triplicates. The result from the first experiment showed that the highest non spesific immune system response, by means number of macrophage, was found 21 days treatment. The second experiment showed that the highest total number of bacteria in kidney and mortality level were 20.23 x 108 cells/g and 46.67%, respectively, both was found in control fish injected intra-peritoneally with A. salmonicida achromogenes.

This study was designed to identify the extent of the effect of drug Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) on histological structure of liver in Swiss albino mice Mus musculus.(16) mice were used and divided into two groups. The first groupwas orally treated with )0.5ml(of aspirinat concentration of (50 mcg / kg) and the second group was considered as control group Treated with distiled water lasted for 30 days. Treatment with Aspirin led to the occurrence of histopathological cases included liver necrosis ,cellular infilitration, congestion in central vein and a case of Hemorrhage. The results also showed the absence of radial arrangement of the constituents of hepatic cells from tissue due to these changes with the control group. From the above results, it coulde be concluded that the drug aspirin had a negative effect on liver of Swiss albino

Nickel ingested with food can elicit either systemic cutaneous or gastrointestinal symptoms causing a systemic nickel allergy syndrome (SNAS) that can be treated with tolerance by oral ingestion of the metal. It has been suggested that interleukins 2 (IL-2) and 10 (IL-10) are involved in the mechanisms underlying oral tolerance. We evaluated the clinical efficacy of oral desensitization therapy in SNAS consisting in the administration of nickel sulphate. Because nickel allergy prevalently affects women, only female subjects (N = 22) were recruited. Oral nickel desensitizing therapy was associated with low-nickel diet for three months. Before and after therapy, clinical conditions were evaluated, and circulating cytokines IL-2 and IL-10 were measured. After the two-year treatment, visual analogue scale (VAS) scores for symptoms were significantly reduced (P < 0.001). Patients were released by either cutaneous or gastrointestinal symptoms and by tolerating nickel-containing food. At the end of the treatment, nickel oral challenge test was negative in 18 patients, and IL-2 level in the serum was significantly reduced while IL-10 was increased, although this datum was not statistically significant. Our study confirms the clinical efficacy of nickel oral immunotherapy and focuses on the mechanisms triggered by oral tolerance indicating that reduction of IL-2 can be associated with success of oral nickel desensitizing therapy.

Peripheral liver necrosis in rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) was shown to result from pre- or postmortem exposure to bile. Accidental spillage of bile onto the liver during sampling or intentional submersion of liver tissue into bile resulted in a time-dependent destruction of liver tissue. Awareness of this caustic property of bile should prompt extreme care in the collection of trout livers for histology.

Changes in hepatic ureagenesis following major hepatectomy are not well characterized. We studied the relation between urea synthesis and liver mass before and after major hepatectomy in humans. Fifteen patients scheduled for resection of malignancies in otherwise healthy livers were studied. Pre- and postoperative liver volume was assessed by computerized tomography-volumetry. During surgery, a primed, continuous infusion of [13C]urea was administered intravenously, and arterial blood samples were obtained hourly. Indocyanine green clearance was determined before and after resection. Seven patients underwent major hepatectomy, and eight patients underwent minor [<5% functional liver volume (total volume − tumor volume)] or no resection, serving as controls. Resected functional liver volume in the major hepatectomy group averaged 60%. Urea synthesis per gram of functional liver tissue increased 2.6-fold following major hepatectomy, maintaining whole body urea synthesis. Arterial ammonia remained unchanged throughout the study, whereas following hepatectomy a hyperaminoacidemia occurred. In conclusion, immediately following major hepatectomy, urea synthesis per gram of functional liver tissue increases rapidly and proportionately to the amount of liver tissue resected, maintaining whole body urea synthesis at preoperative levels. This rapid and complete adaptation suggests that the capacity of urea synthesis is not limiting the maximum resectable volume in otherwise healthy livers.

Currently, phosphate-based glasses have been extensively studied for their special characteristic of being soluble in aqueous medium and capable of releasing ions. This paper presents the relationship between the solubility properties and ion released of phosphate glasses having a composition of 6Al2O3-15K2O-14Na2O-(20-x)CaO-xFe2O3-45P2O5, where x = 2, 4, 6 and 8 wt.%. Clear and free bubbles of dark green glasses were obtained from the used of conventional melting technique at 1300 oC. The ion released and weight loss studies were determined from the immersion of the glass samples in deionised water for about 16 weeks under static condition. IR spectra revealed the formation of phosphate units such as metaphosphate and orthophosphate unit around 1097 cm-1 and 1107 cm-1 with the presence of Fe2O3 in the glass system. SEM image of the phosphate glass structure before and after immersion seems to be associated with the solubility of these glasses. From the study, the concentration of Na+ and K+ release decreased when more Fe2O3 contents were added to the system. Fe2O3 stabilize the network structure via the formation of P-O-Fe bond which more hydration resistant towards water penetrating molecules.
