ABSTRACT This research was conducted to isolate the compounds from Begonia versicolar Irmsch plants. Flavonoid compounds that produced from Begonia versicolar Irmsch is flavonol were isolated and purified by using silica gel and sephadex LH-20 and the melting point was observed. Characterization of isolated compounds was carried out by using the UV and IR spectroscopy. The purification results were yellow powder. The melting point is 195-197oC; and the wave length maximum are λmax of (MeOH) = 257nm, 357 nm. Keywords; Flavonol, Begonia versicolar Irmsch., melting point, UV and IR spectroscopy ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengisolasi senyawa dari tanaman Begonia versicolor Irmsch. Cocrystal explosive can effectively improve the physical and chemical properties of explosive and contributed to new unique properties of cocrystal explosive. Based on cocrystal principle, a few recrystallization explosives of LLM-105 were prepared using solvent/non-solvent technique. The prepared samples were analyzed by IR spectroscopy. The results showed that cocrystals such as LLM-105/ HNIW, LLM-105/HMX and LLM-105/RDX can be prepared. Melting point and density of the cocrytals above changed little. It can be inferred the cocrystal explosive will have better energy and their application performances will not reduce obviously.

For energy production and also for the glass industry, finding new refractory alloys which could permit to increase the process temperatures to 1200°C or more is a permanent challenge. Chromium base alloys can be good candidates, considering the melting point of Cr itself, and also its low corrosion rate in molten glass. Two families of alloys have been studied for this purpose, Cr-Mo-W and Cr-Ta-X alloys (X= Mo, Si..). A finer selection of compositions has been done, to optimize their chemical and mechanical properties. Kinetics of HT oxidation by air, of corrosion by molten glass and also creep properties of several alloys have been measured up to 1250°C. The results obtained with the best alloys (Cr-Ta base) give positive indications as regards the possibility of their industrial use.

This work reports the use of GC-QTOF-MS to obtain a deep characterization of terpenoid compounds recovered from olive leaves, which is one of the largest by-products generated by the olive oil industry. This work includes an innovative supercritical CO2 fractionation process based on the online coupling of supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and dynamic adsorption/desorption for the selective enrichment of terpenoids in the different olive leaves extracts. The selectivity of different commercial adsorbents such as silica gel, zeolite, and aluminum oxide was evaluated toward the different terpene families present in olive leaves. Operating at 30 MPa and 60 °C, an adsorbent-assisted fractionation was carried out every 20 min for a total time of 120 min. For the first time, GC-QTOF-MS allowed the identification of 40 terpenoids in olive leaves. The GC-QTOF-MS results indicate that silica gel is a suitable adsorbent to partially retain polyunsaturated C10 and C15 terpenes. In addition, aluminum oxide increases C20 recoveries, whereas crystalline zeolites favor C30 terpenes recoveries. The different healthy properties that have been described for terpenoids makes the current SFE-GC-QTOF-MS process especially interesting and suitable for their revalorization.

Antibacterial activity and fire retardation are equally desired for protective clothing. For achieving this, AgNP and MgO are independently researched as nanofillers in Polyurethane based electrospun nanofibers and their synergistic effect is scarcely addressed. This article reports synthesis and characterization of MgO of 70.01 nm and AgNP of 51 to 76 nm by solution combustion and hydrothermal routes respectively and their incorporation in electrospinning of Polyurethane. Flow rate 1 ml/hr, applied voltage 13 kV, tip to collector distance 15 cm were adopted for the electrospinning. Nanofibers of 65 nm were obtained for PU/MgO (3 wt. %) and 106 nm for PU/MgO (3 wt. %)/Ag (1 wt. %). Addition of MgO increased the melting point, after flame time and afterglow time. Incorporation of AgNP improved antibacterial activity. PU/MgO/Ag (2 wt. %) exhibited zone of inhibition of 2.1 cm and 3 cm against E. Coli and S. Aureus, respectively.
