Kant stated that education is to develop a sound mind in a sound body. Following a descriptive survey in a quantitative framework, the current study aimed to analyze the perception of students at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa about the availability of sports facilities and their utilization.  A multi-stage sample of 300 students was taken from12 urban Secondary schools of district Peshawar. A questionnaire was used for the collection of quantitative data having five-point Likert scales. Kruskale Wallace H test and Mann-Whitney U test were used as inferential statistics for finding the differences in the groups. The study found that most of the secondary school students participated in sports activities. The majority of schools were having sports facilities, however, fewer students were having sports facilities outside their schools. It was suggested that if students are provided with proper sports facilities and proper guidelines, it will have a significant impact on their physical development and academic achievements.

This study investigated the impact of family climate on the academic achievement of government and private secondary school students. Three hundred (Boys =150; Girls =150) secondary school students were randomly chosen as the sample of the study from 8 schools (4 government and 4 private) of Aligarh. Family Climate Scale by Dr. Beena Shah (1990) was used to study respondent’s family climate, while their IX class examination results were used as the measure of academic achievement. The hypotheses were tested using the product moment coefficient of correlation to find out the relationship between the family climate and academic achievement, and for measuring the effect of the type of family climate (favorable and unfavorable) on the academic achievement of the students the investigator applied t-test. The results showed that the academic achievements of students are independent of the family environment and parental support provided to them. The study also revealed that private students have good academic records in comparison of government students.

This study assessed sugar consumption among private secondary school students in Dutsin-Ma Township Katsina State, Nigeria. Three hypotheses were tested in the study. Descriptive survey research design was used. The population of this study comprised 175 (junior and senior) students of the three existing private secondary schools in Dutsin-Ma. The entire student population was studied.  A self-constructed questionnaire with a four-point Likert scale was used to collect data. The instrument was validated by four health experts. Split-half method was used to determine the reliability of the questionnaire and a reliability coefficient of 0.67 was obtained. Data collected were analysed using frequency counts and percentage for rendering the demographic profile of the respondents and answering the first research question. The t-Test was used to test the stated hypotheses at level of 0.05. The study found that most of the students (58.29%) consume more artificial sugar than sugar obtained from natural sources. The study also found significant differences in sugar consumption between students in junior secondary classes and those in senior secondary in their consumption of sugar (p< 0.05). However, the study found no significant gender difference in the consumption of sugar among the students. Based on these findings, the study recommended a reduction in consumption of sugar by students particularly unwholesome foods such as biscuits and soft drinks rich in sugar.

Secondary school students continue to consider chemistry as difficult to learn and develop a negative attitude towards it. This leads to low achievement in the subject and reduces their interest. Studies on students' achievement in chemistry have been conducted and different instructional strategies of teaching and learning have been provided. Nonetheless, there are persisting misconceptions and factors that hinder the achievement of students, even after the implementation of suggested strategies. By applying innovative teaching approaches as remedial to teaching and learning barriers, students' achievement may be improved; and the retention of the learned material may be enhanced. In this study, we conducted a literature search to collect any related literature. Sixty-one studies were obtained; some of them were not related to our investigation; and those which did not answer the research question were excluded, we remained with 13 studies. The selection of studies was based on year of publication, and language. These studies were published in English and between 2011 and 2021. Consequently, this review highlights the influence of teaching methods on students' achievements, updating teachers on the factors affecting students' achievements in Chemistry, misconceptions in chemistry instruction, and ways for remedying those misconceptions, as well as methods for improving students’ academic achievements.

The study determined the effects of mentoring enhanced strategy on secondary school students’  self-regulation (SR) in physics in education zone ‘C’ of Benue State, Nigeria. The study was guided by two research questions while two hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The design of the study was the quasi-experimental, non-randomized, pre-test and post-test control groups. The population of the study consisted of 4,064 SS Two physics students in the 94 schools in Education Zone C. The sample comprised 406 SS Two physics students drawn from 10 schools using multi-stage sampling technique. The research instrument adapted and used for data collection was Students’ Self-Regulation Scale (SSRS). The research instruments was subjected to a reliability analysis using Cronbach’s Alpha Formula which yielded a reliability co-efficient of 0.85. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions while inferential statistics of Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypotheses. The findings revealed that students who were exposed to mentoring exhibited higher self-regulation levels (P = 0.007 ˂ 0.05) than those students who were not exposed to mentoring. There was no significant difference between male and female students’ self-regulation level (P = 0.036 ˃ 0.05). Based on these findings, it was recommended among others that the use of mentoring enhanced strategy should be encouraged and used in physics instruction in secondary schools.

The aim of this study is to examine the attitude of secondary school students towards science and science course. The descriptive survey model, in which participants' views, interests, skills, abilities and attitudes can be determined, was chosen from the general screening models in order to determine the attitudes of the students towards the Science and Science course. The research was carried out with 197 secondary school students (46 fifth, 36 sixth, 60 seventh , 55 eighth grade students) at the public school in Sarıyer, İstanbul. The Attitude Scale of Science Lesson was applied as a data collection tool. Frequency ratios of the data obtained were calculated. According to the results of the research, it was observed that the attitudes of the students towards the science course were positive, but their attitudes towards science were not positive and they had prejudices about this subject.

Stratified random sampling technique was employed to select 250 respondents for the study. A researcher designed questionnaire titled ‘Knowledge of Human Trafficking and Preventive Strategies Questionnaire’ (KOHTPSQ); was used as instrument for data collection. The research questions were answered using mean, while the research hypotheses were tested using the z-test statistics at 0.05 level of confidence. The findings showed that male and female students of secondary schools in Oyo metropolis are to a great extent, aware of the ways by which human can be trafficked. A significant difference existed in the knowledge of the ways by which human are being trafficked. It was recommended that counsellors should organise group counselling session/workshop/seminar/ conferences for adolescents’ and parents to educate them on various ways human can be trafficked.
