This paper explores the issue of building beneficiaries’ commitment to the social project. Building beneficiaries’ commitment is difficult and complicated, but necessary to achieve the project’s goals. The paper presents experiences of individuals who organise activities in the Potentials… project, namely activities of those who have been responsible for building involvement of the projects’ benfciaries. The author presents conclusions of her qualitative research into the local community/project concerning commitment building methods, the difficulties connected with it and some suggestions concerning the project implementation in the future.

Abstract Background Research on factors affecting self-care is scarce. The social factors, in particular, have not been yet investigated in Iran. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the relationship between self-care and social capital among women. Methods The participants were 737 women who were living in the marginal, middle and upper areas in the city of Yazd, Iran. Data were collected using a researcher-made self-care questionnaire and Harper’s (Off Natl Stat 11:2019, 2019) Social Capital Scale. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling by SPSS and Amos v24. Results The results showed that the social capital had significant positive effects on the general self-care behavior of the participants (β = 0.56, p < 0.001). It also had significant positive effects on the self-care behavior of women living in the marginal (β = 0.58), middle (β = 0.49) and upper (β = 0.62) parts of the city (p < 0.001). Besides, the women living in the marginal parts had relatively lower levels of self-care compared to those living in the middle and upper parts of the city. The examination of the fit indices indicated that the model has a good fit (CMIN/DF = 2.087, NFI = 0.921, RMSEA = 0.027, CFI = 0.956, TLI = 0.940, GFI = 0.956, IFI = 0.957). Conclusion The findings of this study demonstrated that social capital has significant positive effects on the general self-care behavior of women. Therefore, improving their self-care can be achieved through promoting their social capital.

In this study, the factors affecting the request and action of migration are examined with empirical method within the scope of neoclassical economic theories and behavioral economic thought. A survey of a selected sample was analyzed with structural equation modeling. There was a linear relationship between migration and economic expectation, social capital and hope. It was found that the Economic Expectation Variable had a very strong negative effect on individuals' decision to immigrate and desire to migrate (γ = -0.99; t = -17.87). Hope variable has a very strong negative effect on individuals' migration decision and desire to migrate (γ = -0.96; t = -13.66). The Social Capital Secret Variable has a negatively moderate effect on individuals' decision to immigrate and desire to migrate (γ = -0.48; t = -8.19). It was seen that economic and political conjuncture was effective in the decision of migration of individuals.

The article is an attempt to answer the question about factors affecting the trajectory of an acting career. The author confronts the objective dimensions of a career with a subjective concept of success, clarified by the participants of the social world of theater themselves. The empirical basis of the work are free interviews conducted by the author with actors of Polish public drama theaters (in 2015–2017) and journalistic interviews with theater artists published in books and popular monthly magazines in the last two decades of the 21st century. All sources were subjected to qualitative content analysis. It shows that in addition to talent, which is the basis of an acting career, hard work is also important. The actors pay attention to personality aspects – charismatic people with a natural ability to attract attention have a greater chance of success. The cultural capital of the stage artist and social capital (the relevant role of linking artistic careers) are not without significance for the course of the acting career. Actors also say a lot about coincidence of events, but it is worth remembering that “you have to be good to be lucky”, you have to be more motivated and determined. The author also tries to answer questions whether awards actuate the course of acting career and whether migrations are an opportunity for creative progression.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate factors affecting attitudes toward social-local-mobile (SoLoMo) advertising from the perspective of social capital. Design/methodology/approach – There were 422 respondents filling out the survey instrument. The research model in this study is tested using SPSS 20 software. Findings – The results show that structural, relational, and cognitive dimensions of social capital have impacts on consumer attitudes toward SoLoMo advertising. Originality/value – It contributes to the literature by advancing our knowledge about determinants of effective SoLoMo advertising from the perspective of social capital. It also provides constructs that constitute the three dimensions in advertising. The author expands the understanding of the social relations under the context of business to consumer by adding substantial nuances to the understanding of the role of social capital in advertising. Finally, this study provides practical suggestions.

Farmers' cooperatives are considered social capital dependent organization. Fostering the development of social capital and its maintenance would help improve the performance of farmers' cooperatives. Multiple case studies of agriculture cooperatives from Western Hills of Nepal were carried out to explore what prompts the building of the social capital and what factors influence the maintenance of this capital in farming communities. Finding shows that ‘extension and rural development intervention', ‘access to external supports and benefits', and ‘existing economic potential' in the form of market-oriented vegetable production were the drivers of social capital building. Similarly, ‘leadership', ‘good governance', and ‘members' commitment' influenced maintenance of social capital within the framework of case study cooperatives. The finding concluded that channelizing extension services through cooperatives had a strong bearing on social capital building and that internal dynamics of cooperatives were critical in the maintenance of social capital. Some policy implications are given.
