Considering the cubic nature of the most frequent geometries among the urban elements and their configurations, the manipulation of the free stream wind flow around the enormous objects, as well as within relatively narrow corridors, such as street canyons is significant in many regards. One of its instances could be mentioned as pedestrian comfort. In this case study, the implementation of an Oblique Streamlining Membrane (OSM) has been studied on a sub-branch of a low rise, but bulky, building, over which a roof-top outdoor food court area has been primarily designed. The OSM serves as the streamlining mechanism, preventing the roof-top area from the intense fluctuations of the wind flow after the flow is separated from the inlet corner side of the building in question. The optimization of sub-geometries and the proof of the concept for the OSM flow controlling mechanism were the subject of the current manuscript, for which a 3D numerical Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes (RANS) scheme has been used. An unstructured computational grid has been applied around the 3D geometry of the entire building and its sub-branching details, which is in contrast with most studies on full-scale geometries, tending to have simplifications on the body to reach a more generalized set of results. All cases have been numerically tested with and without the presence of the OSM. This comparison has been the grounds for proving the effectivity of the said flow controlling mechanism to eliminate high gradient fluctuations of the separated flow off the roof corners. This has led to pedestrian/resident comfort on the roof-top food court area located on top of the building.

AbstractThe objective of the work presented is to improve functional electrical stimulation (FES) assisted sit-to-stand motion in complete paraplegic individuals by restoring coordination between the upper part of the subject’s body, under voluntary control, and the lower part of the body, under FES control. The proposed approach is based on the observation of trunk movement during rising motion and a detection algorithm, which triggers a pre-programmed stimulation pattern. We present a pilot study carried out on one T6 paraplegic subject. We validated the ability of the subject to produce repeatable trunk acceleration during sit-to-stand transfers under FES and, the ability of the system to trigger the stimulator at the desired instant in time. We also analyzed the influence of the timing of leg stimulation, relative to the trunk acceleration profile, on upper limb efforts applied during sit-to-stand motion.

Sleep is essential for our health and wellbeing but it has, historically, been the subject of little sociological study. Yet sleep is not, as common sense would have us believe, ‘asocial inaction’. Like our waking lives, it is a time of interaction. The sociology of sleep presently exists in a state similar to the early stages of development of the sociology of the body, waiting for something like Frank's (1991) typology of body action, which served as a heuristic guide through which action and its multifaceted components could be understood. This paper argues that one productive analytical framework is to adapt Watson's (2000) ‘male body schema’ for the sociological investigation of sleep. This revolves around four interrelated forms of embodiment: normative (opinions and perceptions about healthy sleep behaviour); pragmatic (‘normal’ as related to social role); experiential (feelings related to sleep); and visceral (the biological body and sleep). The possibilities this model provides for the sociology of sleep is illustrated in the paper through the analysis of a case study of sleep negotiation between a couple.

ABSTRACT :- Endometrial is inner lining of uterus. Hyperplasia is excessive growth of cells. Endometrial Hyperplasia is excessive cell growth or thickness of inner lining of uterus. Endometrial hyperplasia is excessive or abnormal thickening of the lining of the uterus, which is most probable cause of Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB). In most of the cases, it is benign in nature. The treatment of endometrial hyperplasia of uterus is mainly done by hormonal treatment (especially by progesterone) and by surgical treatment such as hysterectomy, which are having their own side effects. Ayurveda is a health care system sensitive to women’s special health needs. Women are far more sensitive to the rhythms and cycles of nature, Ayurveda is founded on the principle of keeping the body toned in time with nature, and naturally, women find Ayurveda very suitable. In Ayurveda, Endometrial hyperplasia of uterus can be correlated with Lohitakshara Yonivyapada. The present case revealed the Raktastambhaka, Shothhara evum Tridoshahara properties of some Ayurvedicmedicines viz. Pushyanuga Churna, Ashokarishta and Dashamoola Kashaya in a known case of DUB due to endometrial hyperplasia with Bulky Uterus. After 3 months of treatment sonography report showed no hyperplasia of uterus. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES To evaluate the efficacy of Shamana Aushadhi in the management of Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB) due to Endometrial Hyperplasia MATERIALS AND METHODS It is a case study of the subject of 35 yrs age with Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB) due to Endometrial Hyperplasia who has been treated with Shamana Chikitsa. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION The subject is on follow up and without any medicine on normal cyclic rhythm till date with overall feeling of wellbeing. There is improvement and no evidence recurrence of Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding and Endometrial Hyperplasia. CONCLUSION The selected treatment protocol i.e. Shamana Aushadha is very effective in the management of Endometrial Hyperplasia KEYWORDS – Ayurveda, Lohitakshara Yonivyapada, Endometrial Hyperplasia, Raktastambhaka Drugs

This paper examines Social Network Site (SNS) users’ criticism of a popular style of SNS profile picture referred to as “MySpace Angles.” Reactions to this style of portraiture label the display of these photographs “deceptive,” alleging that MySpace Angles fool users into believing that the subject is more attractive than they actually are. This case study approach utilizes a close reading analysis of the MySpace Angle commentary, revealing three main themes in users’ critique of MySpace Angles: 1) users who post these photographs are conforming to a social trend at the expense of their individuality; 2) the presentation of these photographs is narcissistic; and, 3) these photographs purposefully conceal the body. This case study displays a shift in the conception of deception online; on the social Web populated by SNSs, theories of deception and authenticity are called into question as users are increasingly anchored to their bodies and expected to effortlessly present an online self mirroring the off-line self.

This study deals with language acquisition which investigates the phonological acquisition of a child suffering from language delay. A case study design with cross-sectional survey type is used and it was conducted at Jl. Ujung Serdang, Komp. Cendana Asri No 21 Tanjung Morawa Medan, North Sumatera Indonesia, where a five year old child was chosen to be the subject. In collecting the data, this study applies documentation with audio visual recorder as the instrument of collecting data and the technique of data analysis used in this study was descriptive technique, then the data were described through the process of transcribing and reducing the data by the process of selecting, focusing, simplifying, transforming the transcripts of the data, then displaying the data and finally drawing the conclusions. The findings indicate that the subjects of this study who suffers from language delay in his five year old had mastered vocabularies covering noun, adjective, verb, and adverb, and the data show that he acquired more noun comparing to adjective, verb and adverb. In case of phonological acquisition, seven phonological processes were found: stopping process, fronting process, voicing process, clustering reduction process, deleting of final consonant process, deleting of unstressed process and reduplicating process. In expressing the language in his daily life, sometimes he used the body language to help him deliver the message.

Psychoanalytic perspectives (such as the Kleinian/Bionian and Lacanian literature) have made significant contributions to the study of affect in organizations. While some have pointed out the affects involved in work tasks, most of this literature generally focuses on the affects linked to organizational life (such as learning, leadership, motivation, power, or change). The center of attention is not on affects associated with the work process itself. We draw from the French psychodynamic theory of Christophe Dejours—who is yet to be known in English language organization studies—to make the following contributions. First, we show the relationship between affect and working by discussing Dejours’ notions of affective suffering, the real of work, the significance of the body, and ‘ordinary sublimation’. Second, we advance critical research in organization studies by demonstrating the centrality of work in the affective life of the subject. Third, the article reinterprets Menzies’ well-known hospital case study to illustrate how Dejours’ theory extends existing psychoanalytical approaches, and especially to point to the significant role of the work collective in supporting workers to work well. We conclude by suggesting that if the centrality of work in the affective life of the subject is acknowledged, it follows that resistance strategies, and work collectives’ struggle for emancipation, should focus on reclaiming work.

Dozens of papers and books have been written on the subject of the authorship of Shakespeare’s plays. Calling into question the probability or even the possibility of the man named Shakespeare being the true author, ‘anti-stratfordians’ have made the case for such authorship candidates as Christopher Marlowe, Sir Francis Bacon, Queen Elizabeth I, and Edward de Vere the Earl of Oxford. The body of evidence supporting Shakespeare’s authorship is convincing but not conclusive and the question continues to produce passionate responses from both pro- and anti-Shakespearean supporters. The doubter’s motives within the ongoing debate have only been explored incidentally as a function of discrediting the argument against Shakespeare. If the answer to the question is unprovable, why has it continued to be asked? The Shakespeare Authorship Question has been motivated by elitist sensibilities, personal ambition, academic insecurity, and a form of worship called bardolatry.

This article aims to demonstrate the importance of sex magic in the construction of a specific form of corporeality within the esoteric practices of the 20th century, using Thelema, a magical-religious system developed by Aleister Crowley, as a case study. The body, through the re-signification of sexual practices and their space in social life, gains centrality as a locus of lived experience and as a potential for active transformation of itself and the world. This new way of building the body, positifying it as the space of subjectivity and plasticity, is totally inserted in the socio-political demands of the fin-desiècle. This way of building the body will be investigated using a mythical-ritual pparatus that reinforces, through the repetition of the rite, this new corpus of values linked to already existing categories, with an emphasis on sex, showing another face of foundational discursive duality of modernity: the body as a double of the subject (LE BRETON, 2002 [1990])

Architecture and urbanization are representatives of our architectural and cultural histories. Many of the lost historical characteristics can come out of the back door citing such representatives. Reconstruction and restoration are a set of activities that deal with the body and spirit of a subject. The subject can be a city, a natural environment or an architectural structure. There are different approaches to reconstruction and restoration, which differ significantly in terms of the level of intervention in a historical subject. This is a technique that our archaeologists are not sufficiently familiar with. From an archaeological point of view on the historical subjects, any document could not be as consistent as the architectural works with the circumstances of the community. The nature of the art of modern history is to see which cases have not been addressed in historical documents. As the historical subjects’ evidence, we were not so diligent in the preservation of such subjects as a documentary. The aim of this study is to investigate the heritage of contemporary architecture and to determine how to preserve such works, as well as to review the Khosrawi leather factory in Tabriz, which has now maintained its role as the Islamic Art University. The results of this research, which are obtained through a descriptive-analytical method, show that we can preserve the architectural structures by changing the application of traditional structures to the cultural or social ones.
