Weekend rest is an important part of a person's recreational cycle. Northerners need a good rest to maintain their health. The choice of a place for vacation is associated with restrictions on the time of movement, since its period should not be longer than 2–3 days. The purpose of the research is to select the most suitable transport areas for residents of the Arkhangelsk urban agglomeration, taking into account the landscape and tourist resources. Based on the study of vehicles and the geographical location of tourist services, three sectors were identified, limited by five–hour transport accessibility from the cities of the Arkhangelsk agglomeration. The most promising for priority development is the southern sector, the centers of which can be the villages of Kholmogory and Emetsk. Excursion, relaxation, ecological and sports tourism can be offered there at any time of the year. The transit position of the main roads of the region gives this sector the advantages of attracting tourists from other regions. The western and eastern sectors have significant recreational potential, but their use is constrained by poor transport accessibility. The western sector with the center in the city of Onega is promising for the development of seaside relaxation tourism in summer and sports tourism in winter. The eastern sector with two centers in the villages of Pinega and Karpogory is promising for ecological, sports and excursion tourism throughout the year.

Abstract. The specific aerosols and cloud properties over large urban regions seem to generate an island, similar to the well- know city heat island, leading to lower UV radiation intensity compared to the surrounding cleaner areas, thus creating a shield against excessive human exposure to the UV radiation. The present study focuses on differences in the erythemal and UV-A1 (340–400 nm) doses measured by the Brewer spectrophotometers in Warsaw (52.3° N, 21.0° E) and at Belsk (51.8° N, 20.8° E), which is located in a rural region at a distance of about 60 km in the south-west direction from the city. The ratio between erythemal and UV-A1 partly daily doses, obtained during all-sky and cloudless-sky conditions in the period May 2013–December 2015, are analyzed to infer specific cloud and aerosol forcing on the surface UV doses over Warsaw. Radiative model simulations are carried out to assess impact of the Warsaw-Belsk differences in total ozone, geographical location and albedo, on the mean ratio between the doses. Higher surface albedo over the city compensates the effect of solar elevation differences due to latitude differences as the mean total ozone values appear almost the same over both sites. It is found that urban agglomeration induced 8 % and 5 % attenuation of the erythemal and UV-A1 doses, respectively, which could be caused by larger aerosol absorption. It appears that a slightly increased optical depth of the urban aerosols and properties of clouds generated over Warsaw are less important for the UV attenuation. In this work we are showing that the higher city surface albedo compensates for the solar UV attenuation caused by urban aerosol load in the city of Warsaw.

The Shuaiba Industrial Area (SIA) is located about 50 km south of Kuwait City. It accommodates most of the large-scale industries in Kuwait. The total area of the SIA (both eastern and western sectors) is about 22.98 million m2. Fifteen plants are located in the eastern sector and 23 in the western sector, including two petrochemical companies, three refineries, two power plants, a melamine company, an industrial gas corporation, a paper products company and, two steam electricity generating stations, in addition to several other industries. Therefore, only 30 percent of the land in the SIA's eastern sector and 70 percent of land in the SIA's western sector is available for future expansion. Presently, industries in the SIA generate approximately 204,000 t of solid waste. With future development in the industries in the SIA, the estimated quantities will reach 240,000 t. The Shuaiba Area Authority (SAA), a governmental regulatory body responsible for planning and development in the SIA, has recognized the problem of solid waste and has developed an industrial waste minimization program. This program would help to reduce the quantity of waste generated within the SIA and thereby reduce the cost of waste management. This paper presents a description of the waste minimization program and how it is to be implemented by major petroleum companies. The protocols employed in the waste minimization program are detailed.

The present alarming environmental world crisis is the uncontrolled generation and illegal dumping of solid waste (SW) that poses great harm to public health and the environment (Ali & Sion, 2014). Poor waste management may cause air, water, and soil contamination. The Republic Act 9003 (RA 9003) or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act (ESWMA) had been in place for several years. However, its implementation was a challenge for every LGU, including in a highly urbanized city. Hence, the paper examined the level of implementation of the provisions and enforcement of prohibited acts on ESWMA of barangays as assessed by community leaders as a whole and according to their geographical location and income. Also, it explores the challenges encountered by the barangays and the recommendations of the community leaders in the implementation of RA 9003 and the local ordinance enacted by the city.

Ticks parasitizing on dogs belong to mites of the order Ixodida, class Arachnida. In Poland the occurrence of four species has been recorded most frequently: Ixodes ricinus, I. hexagonus, I. crenulatus and Dermacentor reticulatus. Their importance is due to the fact that they are vectors of many dangerous diseases of humans and animals. The subject of the present study were ticks collected from dogs, patients of several veterinary clinics from the urban agglomeration of the city of Olsztyn. Ticks were collected from May to June in eight consecutive years: 2009–2016. The dominant species was I. ricinus (60.14%) in relation to D. reticulatus (39.71%). In two consecutive years, 2011–2012, single females of Rhipicephalus sanguineus were also identified, an exceptional finding of this species in our country. In D. reticulatus, nymphs predominated over females (23.74% vs 16.0%) while in I. ricinus the respective percentage was 29.6% and 30.55%. However, in subsequent years of the study the proportions between nymphs and females varied greatly in both species.

Based on the geographical location of Pekanbaru City is one of the areas included in flood-prone areas, even said that the city of Pekanbaru is included in the red zone related to flooding, seeing from the majority of the existing area is the rawah and river banks. The National Flood Mitigation Agency (BNPB) noted that the city of Pekanbaru is one of the flood-prone cities on the island of Sumatra. In addition to determining flood-prone areas for the Regional BPBD Office in Pekanbaru City, the community also wants to know the location that often floods and determine the long-term rain intensity capacity that will cause flooding, so that it does not hinder the daily activities. To deal with this problem, a Geographical Information System needs to be developed that can determine areas that often occur in natural flooding. Geographical information systems are expected to be able to assist the BPBD Office in managing flood data that has occurred in the city of Pekanbaru, and help provide information about floods that are needed by the community to anticipate further flood events.

This study deals with the synthesis of selected attributes of public transport accessibility. The aim is to present a new method of multi-criteria analysis. As the research area, the city of Cracow has been chosen. The GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification) system has been used to obtain traffic data for buses and trams within the city‘s transport company (MPK Krakow). The analysis itself consists of 4 main accessibility indicators (walking time to each stop, number of lines, directions, and connections from each stop). The problem of exceeding the stops accessibility beyond the administrative border of Cracow has been solved by using a 500 m wide buffer zone around the city. To connect the individual layers of indicators into a multicriteria analysis, the Voronoi diagram function has been applied. The results of the method are presented in the form of synthetic maps of transport accessibility for each bus and tram stop in Cracow. Together with the synthetic accessibility maps, an index of a stop importance has been created as well, which consists of the sum of the mean percentages from 3 indicators (number of lines, directions, connections). The synthetic method used and acquired detailed values not only for the city of Cracow as a whole, but also its individual parts make it possible to provide a comprehensive picture of accessibility by public transport. This multicriteria analysis can also be extended for a comparative study of selected cities.

One of the key tasks of the current government is to develop the regions and strengthen their economic potential. One of the most important factors of economic growth is investment. For Ukraine, which is in a crisis pit, the issue of attracting foreign investments is especially important and relevant, as they have a significant impact on the economic development of the country. At the same time, the largest degradation in Ukraine today is investment activity, which is also due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Deterioration of the investment climate, the possibilities of budgets at all levels, the decline in business activity of economic entities have led to a difficult state of the investment sphere. The article analyzes the investment attractiveness of the regions of Ukraine. A special role is focused on the factors (positive and negative) that affect the formation of the investment climate of the regions: positive - geographical location, labor resources; negative - unfavorable climate and corruption. One of the indicators that reflects the stable economic development of certain sectors of the economy, as well as the country's economy as a whole is the investment potential of the regions. The investment and foreign economic policy of Ivano-Frankivsk UТС is analyzed, which is aimed at improving the image at the regional and international levels, promoting a significant increase in domestic and foreign investment in economic development, the implementation of active information and promotional activities. In the city, foreign investment is about 580 million dollars. US dollars, of which almost 80 million dollars. USA - loan capital. During the study, we analyzed the largest enterprises in Ivano-Frankivsk, including foreign investment, LLC “Electrolux Ukraine”, LLC “Tyco Electronics Ukraine Limited”, SE VO “Karpaty” (Delphi project), LLC “Imperial Foods”. The method of expert assessments indicates promising areas of business development of Ivano-Frankivsk UТС. In the course of the research we suggested ways to improve the investment attractiveness of Ivano-Frankivsk UТС.
