Fe-C-W-Cr-Ni alloy powder in diameter of 32-53 μm made by argon atomization was low-pressure plasma sprayed to produce high Cr-Ni cast iron base deposits with finely dispersed tungsten carbide particles. The as-sprayed deposit produced on a non-cooled substrate was composed of γFe, αFe and carbide. The fine precipitates in the as-sprayed deposit were carbide. With increasing heat treatment temperature up to 1273 K, the carbide particles coarsened. The as-sprayed deposit produced on a non-cooled substrate had higher hardness than the heat-treated deposits. The wear resistance of the as-sprayed deposit produced on a non-cooled substrate was lower than that of heat-treated deposits. The as-sprayed deposit produced on a non-cooled substrate and heat-treated deposits had higher wear resistance than commercial stainless steel.

It was investigated the influence of technological parameters of laser cladding on the thickness of the carbide composite coatings with similar composition and properties of matrix and different types of reinforcing inclusions (spherical tungsten carbides (WC) and recycled carbides). Special attention is paid to physical-mechanical and service properties of the composites such as hardness and resistance to abrasive wear. It is established that the thickness of the carbide composite coatings increases with increasing laser power and flow rate of the carrier gas, and with decreasing speed of the laser and the step of cladding. The study showed that at the addition of 50 wt.% WC matrix has smaller hardness values 540-560 HV, which allows to obtain the structure of the carbide composite coatings without cracks. At the same time, at addition of 80 wt.% WC matrix has higher hardness 670 HV, which does not provide the structure without cracks. Resistance of composites NiCrBSiC-WC to cracking, as well as their wear resistance, increases with increasing content of tungsten carbide. The wear resistance of the coatings received from powder Technicord 655-SL, with a reinforcement by recycled carbide, comparable to that for coatings from spherical tungsten carbide Tekmat WC-125. Coatings NiCrBSiCWC, obtained by laser cladding, are used to increase the service life of the equipment telemetering systems, in particular, it is possible to prevent of abrasion and provide of increasing the service life of the contact pads of the equipment for measurement while drilling.

Presented study deals with the resistance of a surface layer created by laser surfacing. Hard surfacing metal powder of type UltrAloy 10611 with a 50 % share of tungsten-carbide particles was used for laser surfacing. Created weld was tested in laboratory conditions (hardness HRC) as well as in field soil conditions (relative wear resistance). Obtained results confirm that this added material is suitable for use in conditions where high abrasive wear is present

Cr3C2-NiCr has high quality of wear resistant properties and is widely used in abrasive environment. In this paper, Cr3C2-NiCr coating was prepared on 45 steel by laser cladding technology. Analysis and research of the coatings were achieved by SEM and XRD to determine the main component and the different region on coatings. The hardness and the element component were investigated by micro-hardness tester and EDS. Abrasion tests were performed to contrast the wear resistance of two materials. The results indicate that the hardness of the coatings is nearly 3 times as the substrate. The coatings are well combined with the substrate and the phase of Cr3C2 has a large proportion in the coatings. Abrasion tests show that the average of wear rate on substrate is 5.2 times as the coatings.
