At present, gold mines are increasingly scarce in the world. The yield of cyanidation tailing (CT) of refractory gold ores with a grade of 10 g/T is huge; however, the effective capitalization of the cyanidation tailing is a significant problem in the gold industry. In this work, a new treatment method, a microwave-roasting process developed. The effect of roasting temperature, calcium chloride concentration, holding time and mineral size on the recovery of Au researched under conventional and microwave conditions. It found that, under the same processing conditions, the Au recovery in the microwave field is much higher than that of conventional conditions. The preliminary reinforcing role of the microwave discussed in the recovery of gold. This might be because of the microwave absorption ability of CaCl2 is much better, heated quickly and the reactions intensified among CaCl2, O2, and H2O. As a result, the extraction of gold in CT drastically increased in the microwave field, and the microwave roasting technology shows the characteristics of environmental protection in terms of low energy consumption and high efficiency.

The paper presents the main thermodynamic aspects related to gold dissolution in different lixiviants. We analyzedthe thermodynamic stability of the gold complexes with the most representative lixiviants with potential for use in the gold industry. Based on the stability constants we determined the electrode potentials of the gold dissolution reactions in variouslixiviants and we presented the electrochemical mechanism of gold dissolution is alkaline cyanide solutions.

This chapter builds from the previous two chapters and concludes the section on Gold. It uses linguistic and visual analysis to show how Taíno and Afro-Taíno understandings of the relationship between plants, metals influenced the legal codes and daily operations of gold processing in La Española. By juxtaposing colonial petitions, imperial ordinances, and Taíno oral traditions, this chapter argues for a new reading of the Afro-Taíno influences in the colonial gold industry – the very sector that epitomized the extractive nature of the early modern Spanish empire.

The research determines the dynamics of gold mining and identifies the specifics of the development of the gold industry in Salair in the late XIX – early XX centuries. The Salair ridge was then under the jurisdiction of the Cabinet of His Imperial Majesty. At the end of the XIX century, the Cabinet spent a lot of money on geological survey of the ridge and invested in the development of the local gold mines. The extraction of gold during this period fluctuated within 6–8 poods (1 pood = 16 kg). At the beginning of the XX century, the Cabinet leased the Salair mines to private entrepreneurs and joint-stock companies. Such agreements were signed by Prince A. von Thurn und Taxis and Dr. Josef Jeanne (Austria), Arthur Stanley and mining engineer Farrukh Bek-Vezirov (Great Britain), State Councilor Berezin (Russia), and The Russian Gold Mining Company. Private companies operated more successfully than the Cabinet. In the XX century the extraction of gold in Salair increased. However, after the companies had developed the ready retrievable gold deposits, they ceased operating. As the calculations have shown, more than 3.6 tons of gold were mined on the Salair Ridge in 1892 – 1915. The main feature of the Salair gold mining was that gold was extracted both by the Cabinet and private companies, which means that state and private capital acted in parallel.

Kata Kunci: Animasi 2 Dimensi, Bahaya Merkuri, Merkuri, Metil Merkuri, Video Edukasi AbstractMercury is one of the heavy metals found in nature and spread in rocks, soil, water and air as inorganic and organic compounds. Mercury can be utilized in various industrial fields, one of which is the gold industry. Waste management of gold processing industry that is not in accordance with good and correct procedures will cause environmental pollution. Mercury that has been contaminating the environment over the long term will have adverse effects on human health that often interact with these mercury ingredients. A 2-dimensional animation based video has been designed in this research, as one recommendation of educational solution, for the prevention of health impact, due to environmental pollution by mercury in Central Lombok. From the research results obtained the fact that respondents consisting of staff Conservation and Natural Resources and staff of Environmental Monitoring and Control Environment Office of Lombok Tengah District assessed 2-dimensional animation based animation videos produced very well in terms of design and delivery of information. This video is also useful to educate the gold miners community in Central Lombok to be more aware of mercury and its dangers, also appreciate the Occupational Health and Safety. Keywords: 2 Dimensional Animation, Mercury, Methyl Mercury, Educational Video
