In the last fifteen years, a new approach has emerged in the design field: the process of development of new materials and the involvement of designers as original creators, making use of underutilized local materials. This paper aims to describe the preparation of an Amazonian palm tree fiber (Manicaria saccifera Gaertn.) for the use at composites materials. The raw materials were extracted from the Marajó archipelago - Brazil by local communities that traditionally work with the material. The process involves the measure of weight, length, and thickness at six different points of the raw specimen; manual washing and cleaning; drying with stopping criterion; and visual analyses of the specimen with trimming and cutting, for the potential use at composites. The results for 80 specimens show that the method adopted allowed easy and quick preparation of the specimens and can be used for other local materials, respecting its characteristics.

By applying the Auto LISP programming language to the design concept of AutoCAD, this paper realizes the secondary development of AutoCAD software. Through the Auto LISP design, this paper implements three kinds of constituted artistic effects for the fractal tree of landscape architecture, namely, plane, color and stereo. At the same time, this paper establishes the fractal mathematical models and algorithms for the landscape design. In addition, the entity model of landscape is built through the AutoCAD landscape design library and the fractal tree is established in the entity model. Through the three-dimensional rendering of plane, stereo and color, this paper achieves wonderful digital multimedia visual communication effect. Thus, it provides a technical support and theoretical reference for the computer simulation design of modern landscape.

China has a long history of art of landscape architecture, which is very broad and profound. The ancient landscape designers left us lots of classic landscape designs. How to develop and innovate when using these classic designs as references is the problem that our modern landscape designers should think about. This article takes an example of Xi’an Peach blossom lake scenic spot’s design, analyzes how to develop and innovate when use West Lake scenic spot as reference, and gives the author’s views of the combination of referencing and innovating in landscape design.

The repot considers the current state of the Russian economy, analyzes the drawbacks of the functioning export-raw materials model of its development. The necessity of its changing on the basis of improving the investment climate on the regional level is noted. Corresponding measures on behalf of federal and regional authorities are formulated as well as the directions of innovation policy aimed at modernizing the Russian economy. The conclusion is made that private non-raw materials business should become the main agent of modernization in our country.

When pulp and minerals are co-processed in aqueous suspension, the mineral acts as a grinding aid, facilitating the cost-effective production of fibrils. Furthermore, this processing allows the utilization of robust industrial milling equipment. There are 40000 dry metric tons of mineral/microfbrillated (MFC) cellulose composite production capacity in operation across three continents. These mineral/MFC products have been cleared by the FDA for use as a dry and wet strength agent in coated and uncoated food contact paper and paperboard applications. We have previously reported that use of these mineral/MFC composite materials in fiber-based applications allows generally improved wet and dry mechanical properties with concomitant opportunities for cost savings, property improvements, or grade developments and that the materials can be prepared using a range of fibers and minerals. Here, we: (1) report the development of new products that offer improved performance, (2) compare the performance of these new materials with that of a range of other nanocellulosic material types, (3) illustrate the performance of these new materials in reinforcement (paper and board) and viscosification applications, and (4) discuss product form requirements for different applications.

Bamboo is a lightweight and high-strength raw materials that encouraged researchers to investigate and explore, especially in the field of biocomposite and declared as one of the green-technology on the environment as fully accountable as eco-products. This research was to assess the technical feasibility of making single-layer experimental Medium-Density Particleboard panels from the bamboo waste of a three-year-old (Dendrocalamus asper). Waste materials were performed to produce composite materials using epoxy resin (C21H25C105) from a natural treatment by soaking with an average of pH 7.6 level of sea-water. Three different types of MDP produced, i.e., bamboo waste strip MDP (SMDP), bamboo waste chips MDP (CMDP) and bamboo waste mixed strip-chips MDP (MMDP) by following the same process. The experimental panels tested for their physical-mechanical properties according to the procedures defined by ASTM D1037-12. Conclusively, even the present study shows properties of MDP with higher and comparable to other composite materials; further research must be given better attention as potential substitute to be used as hardwood materials, especially in the production, design, and construction usage.

: Graphene as Organic material showed special attention due to their electronic and conductive properties. Moreover, its highly conjugated chemical structures and relative easy modification permitted varied design and control of targeted properties and applications. In addition, this Nanomaterial accompanied with pseudo Electromagnetic fields permitted photonics, electronics and Quantum interactions with their surrounding that generated new materials properties. In this context, this short Review, intends to discuss many of these studies related with new materials based on graphene for light and electronic interactions, conductions, and new modes of non-classical light generation. It should be highlighted that these new materials and metamaterials are currently in progress. For this reason it was showed and discussed some representative examples from Fundamental Research with Potential Applications as well as for their incorporations to real Advanced devices and miniaturized instrumentation. In this way, it was proposed this Special issue entitled “Design and synthesis of Hybrids Graphene based Metamaterials”, in order to open and share the knowledge of the Current State of the Art in this Multidisciplinary field.

The present technological development makes us to find and fabricate new materials to replace existing materials. Also, the need for environmental friendly, easily biodegradable material plays prime role in determining the raw materials. In this paper Flax and Kenaf fibres are used as the suspending matrix to form hybrid composite with epoxy resin. Hand layup technique is carried out in this work to fabricate composite laminate. The double shear property is evaluated. The result shows that the hybrid composite shows better property than mono fiber composites.

Building protection on our century is very important because of the terrorist attacks. The old buildings in Europe aren’t enough strong again blast loads. Nowadays we know many different explosives and theirs effects of walls and human bodies. The detonation caused blast effect provokes building damage and fragmentation effects. The explosion caused damages, parts of bricks and fragments produce other secondary damage in other buildings and human bodies. It can’t protect the historical and old buildings by new walls and fences because of the cityscape. It needs to find new possibilities to improve the buildings resistance again blast effects. It needs a effectively thin and strong materials to reinforced the buildings walls. The new materials innovated by material science can be good solution for this project. These materials usually composites likes syntactic foams, spherical shells or carbon fields reinforced composites.
