The success of any company did not come suddenly, but through the application of lean manufacturing tools and continuous monitoring of the needs and desires of customers in the market and seizing opportunities and exploiting them in those markets. The research problem is determined in how to apply lean manufacturing and exploit marketing opportunities in the research sample company .The research aims to identify the reality of lean manufacturing in the research sample company and its role in achieving marketing opportunity activities and eliminating waste to reduce costs, reduce time and increase productivity. The research community represented the managers of the higher administration, and an intended sample of (31) managers was chosen to properly represent the community. The General Company for Drug Industry in Samarra was chosen as a site to conduct the research. The search used statistical software (Spss Var. 19). The research concluded with a set of conclusions such as: The application of lean manufacturing in the company The research sample contributes to exploiting the available opportunities by reducing waste and reducing time and cost in a manner that suits the company’s objectives. In addition to presenting a set of recommendations such as: The company's management must adopt the proper application of the philosophy of lean manufacturing and its role in harvesting marketing opportunities and work to ensure the success of this application because of its significant impact in reducing costs and achieving a competitive advantage for the company.

This present research undertakes the extensive study of horror fiction genre with reference to the select novels of one of the finest and celebrated horror fiction writers of all time, Stephen King. This paper is a substantial assessment of the select horror fiction of King. The research problem revolves extensively around the word fear. Stephen King has conjured up the images of most horrific creatures, monsters, places, and stories, and some of the most enduring villains in fiction. These unimaginable evil beings test the limits of the protagonist. Some of these villains have gone to the extent of becoming as famous (or infamous) as the writer himself. Many of Stephen King villains are monsters of the human variety such as serial killers, power hungry despots, nihilists, etc. His most memorable and monumental characters are the supernatural ones who use their dark powers to twist the orderly world around them into a special place of chaos and pain. It has been assumed that the horror elements in the fiction of Stephen King are the result of his strategic use of supernaturalist and non-supernaturalist elements. The techniques that he uses to evoke horror in reader have been treated as a site for research attention by the researcher.

This article highlights advantages of Lean Manufacturing in the manufacturing industry. The U.S. Bureau of Census survey shows that leaner the company, the faster it grows and the more profitable, productive, and innovative it becomes. It is a constellation of interrelated processes that improve productivity and reduce waste through continuous monitoring, evaluation, and improvement. The successful results of lean implementation have shown that workers are going to have to take more responsibility for outcomes, and managers are going to have to treat workers like partners. However, lean brings out the skepticism in many engineers and owners of small- and medium-sized businesses. It takes a lot to convince them to invest the time and money needed to transform even a modest factory into a lean operation. Lean has proven to be a philosophy of continuous improvement, as learning how to expose and fix problems creates sustainable advantages that are expected to continue in the future.

Lean management represents a systematic approach used for identifying and eliminating waste and non-value added activities from different industries, including the textile industry. Even if the lean manufacturing concept has shown important results in continuous process industry, the textile industry represents a good area for implementing this methodology targeting as a main objective the action of eliminating waste, thus reducing costs and therefore, increasing productivity. Being a customer oriented process, the system has the ability to eliminate a significant part of waste from the Romanian textile industry. As a result, this is an incipient study aimed to present the benefits of implementing Lean Management in the Romanian textile industry, through its improvement tools, as well as presenting a theoretical economic impact for a textile company. Also, taking into consideration that Lean Management is not yet applied in the Romanian textile field, the study will present a part of the areas which would need the Lean implementation, as well as further actions to be taken in order to improve productivity in textile industry.

The use of lean production in organizations, which aims to broaden your results using fewer resources, that is, to increase productivity producing essentially necessary and eliminating what does not add value to clients, requires actions that include mapping of success environments and organization's readiness for change management. Hence we have the current case study, descriptive, which presents the implementation of lean manufacturing in the textile plant in Blumenau (Santa Catarina) that manufactures medical products from a company with three manufacturing units. Next, there were interviews with thirteen managers and staff who participated in the lean manufacturing implementation process in the unit in focus. As a result, we identified that the requirements and preparations for the deployment mentioned are directed to a behavioral change that includes preparation of leadership, aligned with the organization's strategy, which needs to be deployed to all areas. Also featured are the stages of implementation and attempts to institutionalize the environment provided by the principles of lean manufacturing. It concludes with the identification of categories of analysis for the changes arising from the aforementioned deployment.

Abstrak Teknologi informasi (TI) menjadi bagian penting dalam menentukan keberhasilan perusahaan. TI memberikan kesempatan untuk mendapatkan keunggulan kompetitif dan menawarkan perlengkapan untuk meningkatkan produktifitas. PT Triexpi Properti Advisindo merupakan Perusahaan Konsultan dibidang properti, yang sudah menerapkan penggunaan teknologi informasi untuk pengelolaan data sistem informasi penyewaan properti yang berbasis web. Untuk memaksimal penggunaan teknologi informasi di perusahaan ini, maka akan dibutuhkan kegiatan audit IT. Audit TI yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini akan difokuskan untuk melakukan evaluasi terhadap rancangan database pada sistem informasi penyewaan properti pada PT Triexpi Properti Advisindo. Kegiatan audit TI ini bertujuan untuk evaluasi pengelolaan data pada sistem informasi penyewaan dengan menggunakan Domain Delivery & Support (DS)-DS11, yang membahas tentang bagaimana mengelola data secara efektif, yaitu dengan melakukan identifikasi kebutuhan data menggunakan kerangka kerja Cobit 4.1. Kemudian akan digunakan model maturity untuk mengontrol proses-proses TI, dengan menggunakan metode penilaian/scoring. Dengan adanya audit pada sistem informasi ini, diharapkan dapat menunjang semua kegiatan perusahaan dan memberikan informasi yang dibutuhkan baik oleh karyawan maupun Direktur dalam menentukan pengambilan keputusan. IT provides an opportunity to gain competitive advantage and offer equipment to increase productivity. PT Triexpi Properti Advisindo is a property consultant company, which has applied the use of information technology for data management of web based property rental information system. To maximize the use of information technology in this company, it will require IT audit activities. IT audit conducted in this research will be focused to evaluate the database design on property information rental system at PT Triexpi Properti Advisindo. This IT audit activity aims to evaluate the management of data on rental information systems using Domain Delivery & Support (DS) - DS11, which discusses how to effectively manage data by identifying data needs using Cobit 4.1. Then the maturity model will be used to control the IT processes, using the scoring method. With the audit on this information system, is expected to support all the activities of the company and provide information needed both by employees and Directors in determining decision making. To increase productivity and achieve promised operating budget savings, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York City wished to optimize bus maintenance routines throughout its different divisions. New York City Transit and the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority entered an agreement with the Local 100, Transport Workers Union of America of Greater New York, AFL-CIO to form a team of delegates, under the supervision of a mediating industrial engineer (IE), to create standard task times for 26 specified bus maintenance core procedures. Within 90 days, this process intended to ( a) create fixed standards for each task, and ( b) reduce times now spent on certain jobs. Throughout the process, labor and management were urged to articulate rationales and listen to explanations. Predictable arguments were initially cited, but these evolved into discussions of new approaches or considerations agreeable to both sides. In a disagreement, the IE tried to narrow differences and facilitate agreement on an intermediary value determined by timed demonstrations. The method invoked an iterative process of negotiation, converging upon the final agreement, which proved to be an interesting heuristic in general for similar mediation processes. This process of union and management coming together on issues of productivity is certainly not new and has been studied in the past. But, at a time when all transit budgets are under fire, issues such as saving jobs while reducing costs assume great importance.

To meet customer’s needs for high-quality goods and avoiding risks of product-liability, global firms continually evaluate the performance of their supply chain for optimum design. Lean management is one of the key techniques businesses adopt in redesigning their processes. The technique is a vital strategy to increase productivity and effectiveness with respect to the movement of goods. Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) was utilized to evaluate the performance of work cell, shift, worker’s experience, and kaizen event participation level during a lean enterprise deployment effort at a multinational organization. The significance of the effects of these variables were assessed based on various lean supply chain factors such as First In First Out (FIFO), Setup Wheel System (SWS), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Clip System(CS), and Key Performances Indicators (KPI). The results support the criticality of metrics and their impact in implementing a lean manufacturing process in a global supply chain environment.

In the last couple of decades, clustering has become a very crucial research problem in the data mining research community. Clustering refers to the partitioning of data objects such as records and documents into groups or clusters of similar characteristics. Clustering is unsupervised learning, because of unsupervised nature there is no unique solution for all problems. Most of the time complex data sets require explanation in multiple clustering sets. All the Traditional clustering approaches generate single clustering. There is more than one pattern in a dataset; each of patterns can be interesting in from different perspectives. Alternative clustering intends to find all unlike groupings of the data set such that each grouping has high quality and distinct from each other. This chapter gives you an overall view of alternative clustering; it's various approaches, related work, comparing with various confusing related terms like subspace, multi-view, and ensemble clustering, applications, issues, and challenges.

Nowadays, knowledge is considered as one of the most valuable assets of an enterprise which has to be managed efficiently and effectively in order to gain a competitive advantage in the knowledge economy era. Knowledge Management (KM) evolved into a strategic management approach, finding application not only in the business world but also in other areas such as education, government and healthcare. In this way, the new link between KM and KBD created the appropriate environment for the advent of a new concept in the scientific and practitioners’ communities, the concept of “Knowledge City” (KC). Nowadays, the theme of KCs is a ‘hot’ topic of interest and discussion. The process for developing a KC, is neither quick nor simple. This seems to be already understood by the research community, which the last few hears has begun to concentrate its efforts so as to develop appropriate frameworks, methodologies, tools, systems, etc so as to support the development of KCs. In this context, and given that there are still many pending issues, this article attempts to propose a taxonomy of KC research, by co instantaneously presenting the status with these major themes of KC research. The discussion presented on this article should be of value to researchers and practitioners.
