In this article, the authors indicated that the BRICS member countries have identified improving the efficiency of resource use as one of their priority areas of development. The difference between the countries is that Russia, as the main supplier and exporter of energy, pays more attention to increasing the use of fossil energy by increasing the added value of energy, while the rest of the BRICS member countries (with a shortage of energy resources) transform their energy consumption structure by reducing the use of coal by increasing the use of renewable energy sources.

In this article, the grades of different kinds of energy sources are distinguished. Thus, we put forward an equivalent electric calculation method, which is compliant with the calculation of various energy resources that have different grades. Based on this aspect, we empirically analyzed the influence of industrial structure changing on energy consumption structure by analyzing panel data in 30 provinces of China from 2003 to 2013. Results showed that the calculated results of equivalent electric calculation method were more accurate because it considered the difference in grades between various energy sources. Industrial structure changing had a significant impact on energy consumption structure. The upgrading and rationalization of the industrial structure had a significant promotion on energy structure cleaning. In addition, technological progress was conducive to the clean development of energy structure, the decrease in energy price boosted energy structure cleaning, and the impact of economic level on energy consumption structure was not significant.

The development trend of the emerging marine industry affects the development of the marine economy, to explore the development trend and the independent innovation path of the emerging marine industry, the added value of the emerging marine industry as the dependent variable, R&D personnel and R&D funds as the intermediary variables, innovation efficiency as the explanatory variable were selected, a development trend measurement model was established by using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method, and the independent innovation path and development trend of the emerging marine industry through the established model was analyzed. Results show that the four independent innovation paths of technological capability, technological management capability, technological strategy, and network capability have a positive incentive effect on the development of emerging marine industries, and technological capability has a higher incentive for the development of emerging marine industries. Based on the results of empirical analysis, this study proposes strategies to promote the development of emerging marine industries, such as enhancing public awareness of emerging marine industries, improving long-term mechanisms for the development of emerging marine industries, and enhancing the independent innovation capabilities of emerging marine industries.

Beijing is a typical city of energy resources shortage and there exists the contradiction between energy supply and demand. This paper analyzes the current situation and existing problems of Beijing’s energy utilization, and then forecasts Beijing’s energy supply and demand from 2011 to 2015 based on four kinds of grey forecasting models, finds out that the equilibrium of Beijing’s energy supply and demand is fairly weak with higher external dependence and there is a large room for improving the proportion of quality energy and for developing and utilizing renewable energy. Finally, on the basis of the current situation of Beijing's energy utilization and the development trend in the next few years, some suggestions are proposed.

The issues of the global threat seeing depletion of the main types of traditional fossil energy resources were analyzed. The data is given on the proven world reserves of these energy resources and the timing of their depletion. The theory of M.K. Hubbert on the depletion of mineral deposits is considered. The application of the theory to assess the reserves of fossil energy resources in different countries is analyzed.

Energy is one of the main pillars of the state’s economy, which is currently facing serious problems due to depletion of mineral energy resources and the threatening environment. As a result, presently around the world there is a rapid growth and development of energy-efficient technologies and the use of renewable energy sources (RES), providing an increase in energy resources, as well as environmental and social effects. One of the most relevant and promising areas of renewable energy development is the disposal and processing of organic waste in biogas plants, and this is particularly relevant in agricultural regions. In this regard, this paper considers the state and prospects for the development of bioenergy in agricultural regions of Uzbekistan, where half of the population of the republic lives. The potential of organic waste from livestock and poultry farming of the agricultural sector was determined, and it was revealed that the use of biogas plants for the disposal of manure and litter is clearly a profitable production and requires close attention from rural producers. The introduction of biogas technologies for the bulk of agricultural producers is an urgent task, that will ensure not only a solution to the waste problem, but it will also provide a solution to energy, agricultural, environmental and social problems in rural regions of the republic.

This article examines the emerging market countries on their national strategic resources—farmland, fresh water, and fossil energy—which are analyzed from the perspectives of distribution, status of development, and existing issues. The study draws the following conclusions: Emerging market countries have abundant farmland resources yet inadequate per capita resources; because of extensive operation on farmland, grain yield is low, which threatens food security; emerging market countries are saliently short in water resources per capita and face imbalances and low productivity over water use, and their agriculture practices are water-intensive; emerging market countries are growing as global centers for production, consumption, and trade of fossil energy, with a long, coal-dominated consumption structure that has a growing momentum, which subjects them to a greater pressure to reduce carbon emissions; and emerging market countries are inefficient in the use of energy, though they have huge potential for energy conservation and consumption reduction.
