The “Plan Voisin” for Paris dated 1925, is one of the most notorious urban projects by Le Corbusier. In it he implements his first real model of the modern city: “The city of Three Million Inhabitants”, drawn for the Autumn Exhibit on 1922. Both projects have a close and direct relation. While one proposes a theoretical model, the other develops how to implement it in the center of Paris. Therefore, both projects can be understood as the same approach but in two different moments. In Le Corbusier’s books, the graphical representation of the projects reflect this, although the documents tend to contradict it. In his “Œuvre complète”, for example, the number of images differs for each case. While the project “The city of three million Inhabitants” is represented by a generous amount of drawings and plans (around 20 images), the “Plan Voisin” adds up to a maximum of five specific images. In the book “Urbanisme” the proportion is of images is similar. This This is a cause of scarce comprehension of the plan for Paris. The article focuses on the graphical documentation in “Plan Voisin”, its difference with the theoretical model and an analysis of its implementation. Principally, the article studies the relation between the new buildings with with those that remains, revealing Le Corbusier’s criteria towards architectural heritage and the importance he gives to some urban complexes in Paris.

Despite the recognized advantages of the use of BIM in the field of architecture and engineering, the extension of this procedure to the architectural heritage is neither immediate nor critical.<br> The uniqueness and irregularity of historical architecture, on the one hand, and the great quantity of information necessary for the knowledge of architectural heritage, on the other, require appropriate reflections.<br> The aim of this paper is to define a general framework for the use of BIM procedures for architectural heritage.<br> The proposed methodology consists of three different Level of Development (LoD), depending on the characteristics of the building and the objectives of the study: a simplified model with a low geometric accuracy and a minimum quantity of information (LoD 200); a model nearer to the reality but, however, with a high deviation between virtual and real model (LoD 300); a detailed BIM model that reproduce as much as possible the geometric irregularities of the building and is enriched by the maximum quantity of information available (LoD 400).

Abstract: In the urban project of Le Corbusier the relationship between new and existing is opportunity of poetic composition. The real traces of the past of one place are transformative tools by which the new project is developed. The projects after World War II, like reconstruction project of Saint-Dié, are occasions to reflect about the new urban developments, rapid and extensive, and the relation of them with the landscape in a new territorial vision. The fragments of past and the new buildings are seen like belonging to a same context of reference and the entire urban composition forming part of a landscape on more large scale. Therefore, the urban project is an ensemble of architectural objects and nature that are held together by calculated visual relation. It is a kind of montage of urban views related to the dimension and measure of the human subject, like visual points or pedestrian paths. Memory and change are linked together by the natural history process and commensurate also to the human measure by a three dimension urbanism where the architecture can anew make the city. Keywords: urban project; landscape; memory; Saint-Dié. The problem of naming increasingly attracts researchers, which is associated with the manifestation of linguistic creativity of native speakers of a particular language on the one hand, and the reflection of modern processes in the field of naming urban objects, on the other hand. The article is devoted to the analysis of modern names of commercial new buildings in Almaty, which are put into operation from 2021-2022. Of linguistic interest is the trend of naming modern real estate objects, which will reflect the created image of the city through naming. The method of continuous sampling, classification, component analysis, and methods of conceptual and recursive analysis are used to identify the features of naming real estate objects. The article identifies and groups new oikodomonyms, presents their classification, and defines the center and periphery of the semantic space of oikodomonyms in Almaty. Discusses precedent eucommunity.

We have investigated the factors which make telemedicine centres sustainable. A pilot study was carried out at two university telemedicine centres in Brazil: the Faculty of Odontology and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of São Paulo. Both centres were supported by long-term government grants. One centre delivered clinical telemedicine services in audiology and odontology, and the other centre delivered clinical services in dermatology, surgery, cardiology, medicine and second-opinions for primary care. A semi-structured interview script was drawn up and after consensus among four referees, interviews were carried out with one telemedicine coordinator from each centre. Analysis of the results showed that telemedicine sustainability is a multidimensional matter, not simply a financial one. The results of the interviews led us to refine our construct of telemedicine sustainability into seven different macro-group perspectives. These were: Institutional, Functional, Scientific, Financial, Renovation, Relational and Social. This construct allowed us to convert strategic and logical factors into a graphical representation. This graphical representation provides a snapshot of the performance of a telemedicine centre at a particular moment. The next step is to create a theoretical model of sustainability for testing in ten other centres in different regions of Brazil, including Amazonia.

AbstractThis text-journey is based on the reciprocity between city and cinema, and its consequent disciplinary engagment. Drawing on the reinvented and recentered discourse of the city - from Le Corbusier to Aldo Rossi, and on the cinematographic practice whether  in the creation of cities that do not exist or in the criticism of the modern city – from Jean-Luc Godard to Pedro Costa, this journey - drawn by cinema - leaves the multiplicity of readings of the city and its forms open. As an operative support in the synthesis between City of Desire and City of Memory, and towards a possible urban design in a Collage Way, this journey,  by stressing part of the city´s transforming and refounding potential character, also tests the ideological strengh of images that we keep in memory and retrieves the fragmentary or continuity nature of Montage.

Abstract. Landscape is always the object of countless mutations: some of them disrupt its identifying features; others leave intact its original traits. Vernacular architecture is linked closely to the vocation of its landscapes, especially agricultural ones: this is the case of Pianura, a neighbourhood in the Phlegrean western suburban area of Naples, where the remains of vernacular architecture and its connections to agriculture are still traceable among the unstoppable process of building speculation which, since the 1960s, has torn up the rural fabric. In this uncontrolled development of the modern city, the architectural heritage of the farmhouse has shown its resilience: although parts of it appear to have been completely engulfed by the uncontrolled expansion of the city, in as many cases farmhouses have endured time, degradation, and indifference towards their historical value. In the heart of the neighbourhood, the masseria, with all its recurring features, remains the most widespread housing model, despite more recent interventions. Through the study of the history and architectural features of Masseria S. Lorenzo, this contribution aims to identify possible guidelines and strategies for the conservation of the material and immaterial values of these examples of vernacular architecture, putting them on a restoration and re-functionalisation path that is mindful of their past heritage and future potential.

This chapter examines the relationship between Jews and the modern city, and more specifically how urban life contributed to Jewish degeneration, by drawing on the arguments advanced by Yuri Slezkine in his book The Jewish Century. While some scholars praised The Jewish Century, others were critical of Slezkine’s work. The chapter first looks at intellectuals who influenced the turn-of-the-century discourse on the city, including Georg Simmel, Louis Wirth, Arthur Ruppin, and Theodor Herzl, before discussing the combined impact of the historical and sociological processes of urbanization and assimilation, on the one hand, and of individual adaptation and mental degeneration, on the other, on the sociological meaning of being Jewish. It also considers the discourse regarding the intersection between race and environment, taking into account arguments by physicians such as Jacob Snowman and Abraham Myerson.

In the article the problem of preservation of monuments of architecture in the modern city is considered. Today, this is one of the main tasks of urban development, which is associated with a change in the filling of the architectural environment of the historical centers of the modern city. The experience in this area is generalized in order to reveal new principles that allow testing on the real material the interaction of structures of different epochs for understanding their reconstruction, preservation and protection. In the field of protection of architectural monuments, there is no necessary legal support, as well as guarantees of investments for maintaining and preserving the historical environment. The research was carried out, first of all, on examples of historical architectural objects of the city of Poltava, where, along with architectural monuments, construction of new buildings takes place, which in most cases do not correspond to the stylistic features of historical buildings and distort the urban historical environment, not taking into account the traditions and practice of building previous centuries.

Since the begin of the 21st century, with the city construction scale expanding constantly, huge underground space has been an important trend of urban development, and will become one of the building types with modern cities symbol. On the other hand, the planning and designing of urban underground space function rationally are important ways to promote the urban functions. Combined with the project of Zhujiang Newtown CBD Underground Space in Guangzhou, the functional factors of huge underground space in modern city, and the design concept for modern urban huge underground space are discussed in this paper. At last, the function designs of Zhujiang Newtown CBD Underground Space are analyzed such as the innovation concept of underground traffic "minor cycle",the separation of pedestrians and vehicles, the sharing of space resource.

This paper aims to catch sight of Recife from two distinct perspectives.
