Zoogeographically important data on the occurrence of 22 dragonfly species in Zambia are presented, including at least seven species for the first time recorded or unambiguously confirmed in the country. They filled gaps in the previously known distribution ranges and showed that some of them reach further, especially to the south, but also west or north. Zoogeographical considerations are completed with some remarks on species’ morphological traits and habitat selection and activity.

Fidicinoides picea (Walker, 1850) and Fidicinoides poulaini Boulard and Martinelli, 1996 are recorded for the first time from the state of Mato Grosso, extending the known distribution of these species to the south. Thereby, the number of Fidicinoides species from Mato Grosso is increased to nine, being Mato Grosso the state with the largest number of recorded species of this genus in Brazil.

ABSTRACT The South American genus Heteropyge Silvestri, 1897 is revised, accommodating now six accepted species. Adults of the poorly known species Heteropyge araguayensis (Schubart, 1947) are described for the first time from near-topotypic material collected near the Araguaia River, state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. In addition, based on recent samplings and on material from Schubart’s collection, H. bidens (Schubart, 1945) is removed from the synonymy of H. cayennophilus (Silvestri, 1897) and revalidated. Both species show significant differences concerning the gonopods and male leg-pair 1. New records and additional data for H. bidens and H. cayennophilus are provided, as well as an updated checklist of the species belonging to Heteropyge.

We report 19 species of Myxomycetes for first time in Peru. Macbrideola spinispora L.M. Walker, G. Moreno & S.L. Stephenson, previously known only from the type collection from Costa Rica, is now reported for South America, enlarging its distribution considerably. The Myxomycetes were collected in Wayqecha Biological Station, a conservation area in the Cuzco region. The specimens were deposited in the South Peruvian Herbarium (HSP) and the Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid (MA-Fungi). The number of Myxomycetes currently recorded from Peru is increased to 174 species.

Based on the literature data and the original research, a review of the species of the sect. Mallotium of the genus Leptogium occurring in the territory of Russia (11 species) is made and a key for their identification is provided. L. pseudopapillosum P. M. Jørg. et Wallace and L. hirsutum Sierk are reported for the first time for Russia, descriptions and localities for both of them are provided. Descriptions of four poorly known in Russia species — L. arcticum P. M. Jørg., L. asiaticum P. M. Jørg., L. furfuraceum (Harm.) Sierk, L. pedicellatum P. M. Jørg. are given. New findings are reported for three species, L. asiaticum P. M. Jørg., L. hildenbrandii Nyl., and L. saxatile Makryï. The greatest diversity of hairy Leptogium species is found to occur in the south of the Russian Far East and Siberia — eight and seven species, respectively.

Four new records of pleurocarpous mosses are reported for the first time for the State of Bahia: Phyllodon truncatulus (Hypnaceae), Trichosteleum brachydictyon, Sematophyllum tequendamense and Potamium lonchophyllum (Sematophyllaceae). These species were found in the Tropical Atlantic Rainforest situated in the South of Bahia.

A comprehensive revision of the species of the genus Ommatoiulus in Andalusia, southern Spain, is carried out for thefirst time, revealing the presence of a total of 19 species, among which are one new record for the country, one for con-tinental Spain, two new records for Andalusia and 10 species new to science: Ommatoiulus baenai, O. baileyi, O. hoff-mani, O. jaenensis, O. kimei, O. pseudoflagellatus, O. recueroi, O. reipi, O. sabinarensis, O. schubarti n.spp. Thefollowing taxa are synonymised: Schizophyllum hoplites Verhoeff, 1910, S. diplurum appendiculatum Brolemann,1925, and Ommatoiulus diplurus mauriesi Hoffman, 1975, are regarded as junior synonyms of Ommatoiulus diplurus(Attems, 1903), n.syn. Schizophyllum dorsovittatum estrellanum Verhoeff, 1910, and S. calatravanum Brolemann,1920, are junior synonyms of Ommatoiulus dorsovittatus (Verhoeff, 1893), n.syn. Schizophyllum nivale Schubart,1959, is a junior synonym of Omnmatoiulus ilicis (Brölemann, 1896), n.syn. Full descriptions and diagnostic notes areprovided for all the species with accounts on their distributions, habitats, and notes discussing their taxonomy. A di-chotomous identification key, based on gonopod structures, is presented to facilitate species identification. In the dis-cussion section, the general patterns of species distribution are underlined, showing a clear tendency to ‘endemism’ forthe majority of species and to polymorphism for species with broader distribution ranges, especially O. diplurus. A dis-junct distribution Andalusia/Pyrenees is registered for O. ilicis. A comprehensive comparison of gonopods is attempt-ed, and three main types of gonopod configuration are delimited, denoting a wide range of structural complexity. Thefovea, a cavity in the posterior gonopods, is explored for the first time with scanning electron microscopy, revealing anagglutination of spermatozoa and confirming Verhoeff’s original observation dating back nearly 120 years. The con-stancy of the fovea in all Schizophyllini, combined with its absence in the rest of the julids, provides an additional apomorphy for the tribe.

Pigrogromitus timsanus Calman, 1927 is a species of pycnogonid that has a broad world distribution and belongs to a monotypic genus. Although this species was recorded for the first time in the Southern Atlantic from the port of Natal, state of Rio Grande do Norte, this record appeared in the grey literature, has gone unnoticed, and to our knowledge, the specimens are not available for study. Based on materials in the Paulo Young Invertebrate Collection at Universidade Federal da Paraíba, we provide further proof of the presence of P. timsanus in the Southern Atlantic. We also provide an updated account on the worldwide distribution of this species.

Here we present new records of two rare tiger beetles in Croatia, their distribution and habitat selection. Cylindera trisignata trisignata (Dejean, 1822) was recorded in Croatia,for the first time in 115 years, on Mljet Island in Blace Bay. Specimens were collected on a sandy beach, 5 - 6 m from the water’s edge sea coast. Cylindera arenaria viennensis (Schrank, 1781) was found in Croatia, for the first time in 67 years, in Podravina, in Kloštar Podravski. It was collected in an area previously exploited for sand mining, which was later abandoned and left to the natural succession. Both species were recorded in rare natural or semi-natural sandy habitat types that are endangered in Croatia. The survival of these and other psammophilous species depends on the suitable management and protection of sandy habitats.

In this survey, 19 species of helminths including Cestoda (Davaineidae, Hymenolepididae, and Taeniidae), Acanthocephala (Oligacanthorhynchidae), and Nematoda (Trichuridae, Ornithostrongylidae, Heligmonellidae, Oxyuridae, and Gongylonematidae) from Rattus rattus, Mus musculus, Sigmodon toltecus, Heteromys gaumeri, and Peromyscus yucatanicus in two Mayan villages in Yucatán, México, were recorded. Ten species of helminths were collected in both localities. The highest species richness was recorded in R. rattus from Xkalakdzonot (6 taxa). Twelve species are new records for Yucatán and two are registered for the first time in México. This survey constitutes the first checklist of helminth parasites in small rodents in the south-southeast of México.

We record for the first time the species Pimpla croceiventris (Cresson, 1868), P. golbachi (Porter, 1970), and P. sumichrasti Cresson, 1874, belonging to the Pimplini tribe (Ichneumonidae, Pimplinae), in northeastern Brazil. These species have been recorded in the south and southeast of Brazil, except for P. croceiventris, which has also been recorded in the north of the country. Regarding the development of larvae and its physiological characteristics, Pimpla Fabricius, 1804 is one of the most well-studied genera within ichneumonids. These new distribution records will contribute to the understanding of physiological tolerances in different habitats as well as discoveries of new parasitoid-host interactions in new environments.
