Chicken broiler is the main commodities  and largest in Indonesia, where Kampar district into production centre in the province of Riau. According to the company's partners, breeder who partnered with the pattern contract farming hasn't been able to combine the use of livestock production facilities as well as labor. This resulted in not maximizing the profits obtained by breeders. The purpose of the research was to analyze broiler chicken farming and analyze the efficiency of broiler chicken production. Analytical method used is the analysis method of broiler chicken flocks and the DEA method. Respondents needed is 40 farmers who have partnered with the contract farming pattern. The results showed that the production costs of Rp.180.031.229 /period, revenue Rp.203.573.865/period, so that the profit amounting to Rp 23.542.636/period with R/C ratio of 1.13. The results of the efficiency analysis show that inefficient farmers are more numerous than those who have been efficient. It showed breeders hasn't been able to use the minimum input produce output that is optimal and maximum profit.

In two experiments, White Leghorn pullets kept in batteries were fed rations containing 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30% raw faba beans (Vicia faba L.) for 336 days. The rations were designed to be isocaloric, isonitrogenous and to have equal levels of methionine plus cystine. The results obtained indicated that levels up to and including 20% faba beans in ration ssupplemented with methionine had no adverse effect on mortality, rate of egg production, efficiency of feed conversion or body weight. A level of 30% faba beans resulted in increased mortality, and decreased egg production and feed conversion in one experiment but had no effect in the other. Egg size tended to decrease as the level of faba beans in the ration increased, resulting in a considerable decrease in the percentage of "large size" eggs graded according to Canadian standards. There was an increase in interior quality of the eggs as measured by Haugh units as the level of faba beans used increased. Specific gravity of the eggs was not affected by use of faba beans in the rations.

We measured ingestion rate (IR), egg production rate (EPR) and egg hatching success (EHS) at increasing prey concentrations and calculated egg production efficiency (EPE) and maintenance rate (MR) in the estuarine copepod Acartia tonsa fed three different algal diets. EPR and EHS were relatively more affected by prey species than by prey concentration. EPEs were constant among carbon concentrations (C) on a diet of Rhodomonas baltica (0.202 ± 0.055, mean ± SD) and Dunaliella tertiolecta (0.034 ± 0.015), but decreased significantly from 0.371 ± 0.062 (mean of two lowest prey concentrations) to 0.200 ± 0.019 at the highest concentration of Thalassiosira weissflogii. In general it seems that other requirements than C demand limit EPE and EHS in A. tonsa. The MR (IR when EPR = 0) was significantly higher on D. tertiolecta, which also yielded the lowest EPEs, and it seems that variations in maintenance requirements may have been instrumental in evoking EPE variations as well.

The automotive industry has lately been undergoing major changes having a considerable impact on the whole vehicle sector. This does not only refer to what is technologically new on vehicles themselves, but also to the new modern management methods, frequently associated with the Industry 4.0 concept. As well as other companies, car factories are pushing their costs downwards to increase their production efficiency. This paper analyses the economic situation of 5 car manufacturers, two of which having their factories in the Czech Republic and three in Germany. The task was to ascertain efficiency of individual companies in order to propose possible improvements. To do this, the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) for two models (CCR - model based on Charnes, Cooper & Rhodes and BCC - model based on Banker, Charnes & Cooper) was used. The BCC model was found to be more applicable to the established efficiencies, than the CCR one.

In the first of two factorial experiments, 26-week-old crossbred pullets were fed for a period of 24 weeks diets with lucerne either in the form of meal or crumbled pellets, with or without 25 p.p.m. furazolidone and with 1 p.p.m. of either G-apo-8'-carotenoic acid ethyl ester or canthaxanthin. In the second experiment, crossbred hens aged 58 weeks were fed for a period of 16 weeks either triticale or wheat, or triticale plus wheat or wheat plus oats on a free choice basis with a concentrate mixture containing either 0 or 333 p.p.m. of ethoxyquin. Lucerne pellets reduced rate of egg production, hen-housed production, efficiency of feed conversion and the income per bird. It increased feed intake by 3.2 per cent and egg yolk colour by 2 per cent. Furazolidone increased hen-housed production and efficiency of feed conversion but had no effect on egg yolk colour. Pullets given diets with canthaxanthin laid eggs with higher yolk colour scores and specific gravity and converted feed more efficiently than those given the diets with G-apo-8'-carotenoic acid ethyl ester. The depressive effect of lucerne pellets on egg production and feed conversion was overcome by both furazolidone and canthaxanthin. Triticale reduced the concentration of oxycarotenoids in egg yolks, Hens given triticale tended to eat more, convert feed less efficiently and gained less liveweight than those given wheat, but rate of egg production and egg weight were unaffected. The performance of hens given triticale plus wheat fell between that of those given either triticale or wheat as the sole cereal. Hens given wheat plus oats tended to lay fewer but heavier eggs with lower yolk colour and gained less liveweight than those given wheat. Ethoxyquin increased the concentration of oxycarotenoids in egg yolks but had no effect on other production traits.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the effects of adding 0% (T1), 6% (T2), 12% (T3) and 18% (T4) of a mixture (83% dried citrus pulp (DCP) and 17% eggshell) into a sorghum-soybean meal-limestone based diet for laying quails, on production efficiency and quality of egg. Thirty-two quails were individually housed and randomly assigned (n = 8) to the four experimental diets, during the first 5 week of the laying cycle. Quail LW and feed intake were recorded weekly. Produced eggs were weighed (n = 457) and egg mass production recorded. Proportions of albumen, yolk and shell, egg yolk color, and shell thickness, were determined (n = 55/treatment). On week 5, total excreta of 24 laying quails (n = 6) were collected throughout 96 h, to determine metabolizable utilization of DM, energy, crude protein and ash. Statistical analyses were performed with SPSS® software. Initial and final LW, feed intake and egg production were similar (P >0.05) among treatments. Egg mass was higher (P < 0.05) in T2 than T4. Egg weight of quails fed T1 and T2 was higher than others (P < 0.05). The eggshell of quails fed T2 was thicker (248 vs 236 μm; P < 0.05) than T1. Eggshell proportion of quails fed the mixture was higher (P < 0.05) than in T1 (11.3 vs 10.5%). Yolk proportion of T1 was higher (P < 0.05). The b* parameter was lower (P < 0.05) for T1. Metabolizable utilization of dietary DM (72.1%) and energy (68.8%) of T1 was 13% higher (P < 0.05) than T4, however protein (avg 41.4%) and ash (avg 46.7%) utilization were similar (P > 0.05) among treatments. In conclusion, adding up to 12% of the mixture (83% DCP and 17% eggshell) in quail diets, resulted in similar egg production parameters, and metabolizable utilization of dietary DM, crude protein, energy and ash, however improved thickness of eggshell, compared to the control diet.
