A New Perspective for School Management in the Digital Age

All nations throughout the world have been influenced by rapid developments and transformations in the twenty first century. Throughout this process of rapid change, in which newly developed technologies and globalization gained momentum, all social establishments are being restructured. The restructuring process may only be realized with the involvement of individuals raised and trained in accordance with the age we live in, thus the strategic importance of educational organizations has risen. For educational organizations to fulfill the expectations of the responsibilities assigned to them, they must be managed in accordance with the requirements of this era. School principals are laden with important responsibilities throughout this process. One of the foremost variables of the transformation process enabled by digital technologies in the digital age is the concept of digital culture. This concept must be analyzed regarding its repercussions in educational organizations. This study analyzes the digital culture which has emerged in the digital age regarding its repercussion in schools and school management from a conceptual perspective.

The purpose of this paper is to bring to light a new perspective on the transformational role of universities by considering knowledge strategies for increasing research and academic capabilities. Change usually comes about because of a crisis in an organization; however, such change can also be due to permanent competition and rapid developments. As the world has moved into the twenty-first century, change has become indispensable, and organizations of many kinds face a variety of challenges. The first questions to ask are “Why change?” and “Why is change important?” Change is a fundamental factor behind an organization’s success and can transform an organization into a global competitor. The three big factors that can impact a university are funding, leadership, and the research system, all of which have been directly affected by disturbances from the external environment and indirectly affected by changes to the university context in response to those disturbances. Many universities around the world have built good reputations, but they need to speedily react to future changes. Collaboration between universities and research institutes plays an essential role in developing the research context. In addition, associations based on specialist studies promote continued professional development among university staff. This paper therefore attempts to highlight the need for change in the realm of universities and answer questions regarding the whys and hows of such change.

During the Covid-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020, educational organizations around the world were closed suddenly, while education continued. In a time of digitalization and information technology, such emergencies are no excuse for halting continuous learning. It has become evident that the digital revolution concerns people and their habits, behaviors, and attitudes in using the new technology. This conceptual article is based on the current discourse on the “new normal” after Covid-19, which will be about change, reorientation, and sustainability. A sustainable society requires access to successful strategies, agile and flexible leadership, digital platforms, partnerships, and the ability to respond to rapid change, promote flexibility in learning, and support our students. AbstractThe following article was delivered as the annual lecture of the Methodist Sacramental Fellowship at the 2016 Methodist Conference in London. Beginning with the original context of John Wesley's well-known phrase, ‘the world as my parish’, this article explores the digital aspects of our global parish today. Putting the digital age on the agenda of the Church's mission is seen as a similar response to Wesley's decision to become ‘more vile’ and enter the world of field preaching. The lecture concludes by offering a fresh approach to Methodist identity magnified by aspects of digital culture, calling for the creation of digital Arminianism, digital field preaching, digital creativity and, ultimately, a digital parish. The article proposes that Methodism embrace a digital social holiness to spread scriptural holiness throughout the geographic and digital landscape.

The technology of blended learning is one of the modern trends in education both in the world and in Russia. The article explores the various possibilities of blended learning technology. As a means of implementing online learning, it is proposed to use LMS Moodle, which is widely used among educational organizations. The categorization of the main elements of Moodle from the perspective of the organization of pedagogical control, forms of presentation of teaching materials is presented. Examples of the use of basic resources and elements of Moodle in the educational process are given. The interactive properties of individual elements those allow you to more effectively implement online learning in blended learning technology are revealed. An approach is proposed to understand the essence of blended learning technology as a technology that allows to activate a student’s activities in the framework of full-time education by using online training and transferring (from full-time education) those activities that students are able to implement in the absence of a teacher.

The combined philosophy and design approach called Philosophy-through-Design (PtD) is proposed using an exemplary project about being-in-the-world in the digital age. PtD is a practical way to do philosophy through designing interventions, and involves various people in the exploration of philosophical concepts. It stems from the overlapping questions found in philosophy and design regarding human-technology interaction. By intertwining both, they benefit from describing, understanding and proposing human-technology interactions to unfold new questions and perspectives. In the exemplary project, being-in-the-world refers to a way of being that is embodied, active, open-ended and situational, based on the phenomenological and embodied theories of Tim Ingold. This concept questions what it means to be human in the digital age and how our lives with technology are built. The first results show the process of weaving together observation, creation and reflection, which presents Philosophy-through-Design as a promising method for designers to practice a tangible philosophy.

There is something more catastrophic than the end of the world, especially when ‘world’ is understood as the horizon of meaning and expectation that has composed the West. If the Anthropocene is the geological period marking the point at which the earth as a living system has been altered by ‘anthropos,’ the Trumpocene marks the twenty-first-century recognition that the destruction of the planet has occurred by way of racial violence, slavery and annihilation. Rather than saving the world, recognizing the Trumpocene demands that we think about destroying the barbarism that has marked the earth.

Margaret Atwood, one of the most spectacular authors of postmodern movement, achieved to unite debatable and in demand critical points of 21st century such as science fiction, postmodernism and ecocriticism in the novel The Year of The Flood written in 2009. The novel could be regarded as an ecocritical manifesto and a dystopic mirror against today’s degenerated world, tending to a superficial base to keep the already order in use, by moving away from the fundamental solution of all humanity: nature. Although Atwood does not want her works to be called science fiction, it is obvious that science fiction plays an introductory role and gives the novel a ground explaining all ‘why’ questions of the novel. However, Atwood is not unjust while claiming that her works are not science fiction because of the inevitable rapid change of 21st century world becoming addicted to technology, especially Internet. It is easily observed by the reader that what she fictionalises throughout the novel is quite close to possibility, and the world may witness in the near future what she creates in the novel as science fiction. Additionally, postmodernism serves to the novel as the answerer of ‘how’ questions: How the world embraces pluralities, how heterogeneous social order is needed, and how impossible to run the world by dichotomies of patriarchal social order anymore. And lastly, ecocriticism gives the answers of ‘why’ questions of the novel: Why humanity is in chaos, why humanity has organized the world according to its own needs as if there were no living creatures apart from humanity. Therefore, The Year of The Flood meets the reader as a compact embodiment of science fiction, postmodernism and ecocriticism not only with its theme, but also with its narrative techniques.

The article deals with the world rating of Ukrainian educational sphere according to The Global Competitiveness Report and UNESCO Science Report. It shows comparative indices of Ukraine in contrast to the other countries of these world ratings according to the “Quality of primary education”, “Penetration of primary education”, “Penetration of secondary education”, “Quality of secondary education”, “Quality of education in Sciences”, “Quality of school management”, “School access to the internet” and others. The article also defines strategic directions of reforming Ukrainian education system to improve its position in the world international ratings.
