Change and Change Management in Organizations

The aim of this chapter is to make it easier to understand the concept of change and offer some suggestions on how the change should be managed. In this direction, change, change management, and its importance have been dealt with, and a conceptual framework has been established through examples. Then, the types of change are discussed by explaining what environmental factors bring about the change. The process of managing change is reviewed; the resistance to change and the sources that reveal this resistance are examined, as well as how to overcome the resistance. Finally, the role of the leader in change management and creating change culture has been discussed.

This chapter offers the general concepts, definitions, characteristics, brief history and theoretical framework of educational management in comparison to educational leadership. It deliberates the diverse modern educational leadership and management models, and how they might be applied within different educational situations. It is also an introduction to the concept of educational change, organizational change and the role of educational leadership in change. In addition, it will highlight the most important strategies in managing change, the challenges it faces and ways to overcome resistance to change. This chapter will be for researchers and leaders in the field of education, whether they are school principals, experts or school senior teachers and all those interested in leadership matters from practitioners of both students and administrators.

The pervasive environmental crisis across the globe has been traced to unsustainable business practices of corporations. This live-threatening phenomenon continues to generate vivacious debates, with scholars and other green stakeholders suggesting certain behavioral patterns as a solution to the scourge.  However, while some organisations are realising the need for green processes and behaviors to key to sustainability practices, they are being confronted with the dilemma of the most effective ways to go about it. Organizational Green Behaviour Change (OGBC) the process actually requires complete overhauling of the entire system because it will touch all aspects of the organization and likely to alter the status quo with a possibility for change resistance. Hence, the role of Change Management is inevitable to have a seamlessly OGBC process in an organisation. Consequently, this paper attempts to review the role of Change Management in the successful delivery of OGBC vis-a-vis resistance to change (RTC). The paper adopts a content-based literature review methodology to achieve its set objectives. Findings suggest that organisation change managers need expert support toward a successful OGBC implementation to enable them to achieve desired OGBC outcomes efficiently. Secondly, it reveals that for organisations to record success in the OGBC process, all stakeholders (internal and external) interests and concerns must be taken into account ab initio. Thirdly, the paper highlights the need for a real link between Change Management and OGBC for effective management of RTC in the OGBC process. Lastly, the study admits its inability to report its findings quantitatively, and recommend active involvement of change management scholars in the growth and development of green literature for sustainability sake.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a widely represented species of bacteria possessing of a pathogenic potential. This infectious agent is causing wound infections, fibrotic cystitis, fibrosing pneumonia, bacterial sepsis, etc. The microorganism is highly resistant to antiseptics, disinfectants, immune system responses of the body. The responses of a quorum sense of this kind of bacteria ensure the inclusion of many pathogenicity factors. The analysis of the scientific literature made it possible to formulate four questions concerning the role of biofilms for the adaptation of P. aeruginosa to adverse environmental factors: Is another person appears to be predominantly of a source an etiological agent or the source of P. aeruginosa infection in the environment? Does the formation of biofilms influence on the antibiotic resistance? How the antagonistic activity of microorganisms is realized in biofilm form? What is the main function of biofilms in the functioning of bacteria? A hypothesis has been put forward the effect of biofilms on the increase of antibiotic resistance of bacteria and, in particular, P. aeruginosa to be secondary in charcter. It is more likely a biofilmboth to fulfill the function of storing nutrients and provide topical competition in the face of food scarcity. In connection with the incompatibility of the molecular radii of most antibiotics and pores in biofilm, biofilm is doubtful to be capable of performing a barrier function for protecting against antibiotics. However, with respect to antibodies and immunocompetent cells, the barrier function is beyond doubt. The biofilm is more likely to fulfill the function of storing nutrients and providing topical competition in conditions of scarcity of food resources.

A krónikus vírushepatitisek jelentik ma a legismertebb okokat a hepatocellularis carcinoma (HCC) kialakulásában. A krónikus B- és C-vírus-hepatitis a májrákok körülbelül 40-50%-át okozza. A nyugati típusú társadalmakban a HCC előfordulása folyamatosan növekvő tendenciát mutat. Az alkohol számít a környezeti tényezők közül a legfontosabbnak, bár az alkoholfogyasztás a legtöbb országban csökken. Ez aláhúzza az egyéb környezeti tényezők fontosságát is. Az elfogyasztott alkoholmennyiséggel egyenes arányban növekszik a cirrhosis és a következményes HCC gyakorisága nőkben és férfiakban egyaránt. A kémiai anyagok közül a legismertebb a Kínában és Afrikában elterjedt aflatoxin, amely a gabonaféléket szennyező mycotoxin. Hasonló területeken endémiás, mint a hepatitis B-vírus, együtt szinergista hatást fejtenek ki. A dohányzás is egyértelműen bizonyított hepatocarcinogen hatással rendelkezik. Ez is jelentősen fokozódik, ha alkoholfogyasztással vagy vírushepatitisszel társul. Társadalmilag talán a legfontosabb az elhízás, a következményes nem alkoholos zsírmáj, illetve steatohepatitis és a 2-es típusú cukorbetegség, amelyek prevalenciája egyre fokozódik. Feltehetően ezek állnak a növekvő HCC-gyakoriság hátterében. Az inzulinrezisztencia és az oxidatív stressz képezik a legfontosabb patogenetikai lépéseket a májsejtkárosodásban. További fontos rizikótényező az orális fogamzásgátlók elterjedt használata. Egyes foglalkozások esetén a tartós szervesoldószer-expozíció is növeli a HCC rizikóját. Védelmet jelenthetnek az antioxidánsok, a szelén, a gyógyszerek közül a statinok és a feketekávé-fogyasztás.

In developing an effective Chidhood weight management, it needs to be based on a theory. The Social Cognitive theory (SCT) and Urie Bronfenbrenner model with integrated Kolb's model of Learning Styles and Experiential Learning is used in this study to modify and make changes to the personal factor influences such as knowledge, attitude and expectations, behavior modification and environmental influences among overweight and obese school children. The aim of this study is to provide a new model for the professional development role of the nurses in the School Health Program (SHP) and health education promotion towards obese school children to improve their quality of life. Furthermore, in this study SHP and future health education and promotion are integrated with the role of SHN to facilitate the effective management of childhood obesity.
