The staff at the Systems and Scholarly Communications (SASS) unit at Gumberg Library provided leadership during the COVID-19 crisis both within the library itself, and throughout the university. Their efforts are described to include the leadership disposition of the department, the preparations made for a plan to work at home, and the ongoing guidance that occurred during the first several months of the pandemic. The authors provide recommendations about how the processes introduced might evolve and be improved upon as a new model emerges for scholarly communications.

Role of the library in documenting the scholarship of Lublin University of Technology academicsThe paper presents new functions and roles performed by Lublin University of Technology Library in context of the university parametric marks. A library has always played an important role in the scientific environment of universities. The primary aim of its activity is supporting the academics’ scientific performance. It has been done by providing the documentation of their scholarship. The composites of information on publications from various sources not only register the items but also positively influence the scholarly communications by enhancing discoverability. These databases, additionally equipped with tools necessary to analyse citations, start to play a more and more important role. Our bibliographic database has been enriched recently by new parametric indicators: journal mark indicators, citations, for example, according to the Web of Science. It allows the library to support the system of evaluation of scientific institutions conducted by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Poland. The paper presents a description of the important role played by the Scientific and Technical Information Department at the University as the main coordinator concerning documentation and information including parametric evaluation of the university 2013–2016.

Increasingly, preprints are at the center of conversations across the research ecosystem. But disagreements remain about the role they play. Do they “count” for research assessment? Is it ok to post preprints in more than one place? In this paper, we argue that these discussions often conflate two separate issues, the history of the manuscript and the status granted it by different communities. In this paper, we propose a new model that distinguishes the characteristics of the object, its “state”, from the subjective “standing” granted to it by different communities. This provides a way to discuss the difference in practices between communities, which will deliver more productive conversations and facilitate negotiation, as well as sharpening our focus on the role of different stakeholders on how to collectively improve the process of scholarly communications not only for preprints, but other forms of scholarly contributions.

The dual role of being a mother and a worker gives stress to women who live it. The demand to work at home becomes a burden for them because they have to optimize their roles both as mothers and as workers, especially in conditions of imbalance in the work environment due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. The mother's inability to cope with the stressors received has the risk of causing depression in the mother. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of mothers about stress management in working mothers during the Covid-19 pandemic. The activities are carried out within 1 month. The method used is education and demonstration of positive thinking virtually via YouTube. This community service activity was attended by 17 mothers. Mother's knowledge was measured using a questionnaire via a google form. The results of community service show that there is an increase in knowledge of mothers after being given virtual counselling

Abstract For decades, research has been highlighting the positive impact of physical activity on health. Despite the immense efforts made by many professional and scientific organizations to raise individual and societal awareness about the role of a sufficient quantity and intensity of physical activity in everyday life and to increase the level of adherence, the situation is still very worrying. Even more worrying is the fact that increasingly prolonged periods of physical inactivity are insidiously and aggressively taking over modern people’s lives – at school, at work, at home, even at leisure. It is probably incomprehensible and difficult for many to accept, but physical inactivity is becoming the first and worst enemy of health in today’s society.

Nowadays, the Industry 4.0 concept affects every area of the industrial, economic, social and personal sectors. The most significant changings are the automation and the digitalization. This is also true for the material handling processes, where the handling systems use more and more automated machines; planning, operation and optimization of different logistic processes are based on many digital data collected from the material flow process. However, new methods and devices require new solutions which define new research directions. In this paper we describe the state of the art of the material handling researches and draw the role of the UMi-TWINN partner institutes in these fields. As a result of this H2020 EU project, scientific excellence of the University of Miskolc can be increased and new research activities will be started.
