The Teaching of the Philosophical Concepts Underlying Hermeneutical Phenomenology

Researchers who plan to utilize the methodological approach of hermeneutical phenomenology must first understand the philosophical assumptions that provide the epistemological foundation for this methodology. The objective of this chapter is to present a set of resources for instructors of research methodology coursework, specifically instructors who aim to introduce students to the research methodology of hermeneutical phenomenological inquiry. The core philosophical concepts discussed in this chapter are 1) the phenomenological attitude, 2) hermeneutics as way of being, 3) the four lifeworld existentials, and 4) the significance of mood. This chapter will begin by presenting a brief summary of these four philosophical concepts. Then, this chapter will introduce three frameworks of curriculum theory, specifically as related to the use of curricular objectives in the practice of teaching. Finally, this chapter will present five distinct approaches to lesson planning and will apply each lesson planning approach to the teaching of these four core philosophical concepts.

El análisis de contenidos está en el centro de gran cantidad de estudios de investigación social. Por su parte, el análisis del sistema de actores también ha sido ampliamente explotado en el estudio de procesos de desarrollo local, bajo diferentes aproximaciones. Sin embargo, este trabajo tiene como objetivo mostrar algunas de las potencialidades y ventajas del análisis de contenidos a partir del discurso de los actores implicados en procesos de desarrollo local. Para ello, se toma como punto de partida la información primaria obtenida de las entrevistas semiestructuradas realizadas a una muestra de actores sociales, económicos e institucionales vinculados a la puesta en marcha de la central eólica Villonaco (Loja, Ecuador). Según el gobierno ecuatoriano, esta ha de tener una clara proyección en el desarrollo local, y de ahí el interés por analizar estos procesos desde esta perspectiva metodológica. Para mostrar las potencialidades del análisis de contenidos a partir del discurso de los actores se utiliza el software MAXQDA, que permite, tras la codificación de la información, analizar los diferentes temas y subtemas que definen las posiciones y valoraciones de los actores implicados.The content analysis is at the core of a large number of social studies. On the other hand, the stakeholder analysis has been widely used in the study of local development processes from different approaches. However, this paper aims to show the potential and advantages of content analysis based on the actors’ discourse involved in local development processes. Primary information obtained from interviews conducted with a sample of social, economic and institutional actors linked to the starting up and operation of Villonaco Wind Farm (Loja, Ecuador), has been taken as a starting point. According to the Ecuadorian government, this wind farm should have a clear projection in local development, hence the interest in the analysis of these processes using this methodological approach. Software MAXQDA is used to show the potential of content analysis. This tool allows, after the encoding process of information, to analyze the various topics and subtopics that define the positions adopted by the actors and their appraisals of the studied processes.

The work of Ukrainian artists who have contributed to Ukrainian and international art, is not sufficiently disclosed. Their creative search impresses with versatility, interesting decision, continues to impress and inspire contemporaries. Purpose of the article — to find out the contribution of the Ukrainian avant-garde artist, set designer, teacher Oleksandra Ekster, to the Ukrainian and international fine arts. Oleksandra Ekster’s work has been the subject of research for decades. Scientists are interested in the painter’s art search, her contribution to Ukrainian avant-garde, scenography reforms, and teaching activity. Some sources may state that Ekster is a representative of Russian avant-garde. However, the artist grew up in Kyiv, obtained art education and promoted with her work not only Ukrainian but world avant-garde as well. The research of modern scientists (H. Kovalenko, D. Horbachova, T. Filevska, N. Stoliarchuk, M. Yur and others) makes it possible to review the artist’s life and artistic journey as well as her contribution to art history. The research methodology consists of a range of methods: historical, biographical, theoretical. The abovementioned methodological approach allows studying the question of historical data relating to the events in Ukraine that led to the emigration waves, finding out certain biographical facts and analyzing the artist’s creative activity.

The purpose of the article is diagnostics of Lesya Ukrainka’s dramatic works realization prospects in conditions of performing arts visualization as a consistent trend of the national stage development. The study involves analyzing the adequacy of modern means of expressiveness to the peculiarities of the poetess’ dramaturgy. The research methodology is determined by observational, analytical as well as historical, and logical analysis of the realization prospects of Lesya Ukrainka’s dramatic poems on the Ukrainian stage in the context of the exceptional specific weight of a word for understanding the poetic and philosophical content of the poetess’ works. The indicated methodological approach allows analyzing the reasons why some performances already realized are of enormous artistic value (notably, by “Stone Master” (“Kaminny Hospodar”) as well as outlining the prospects of some contemporary theatrical models in this sense. The novelty of the research lies in expanding the conceptions about the relevance of correlation of cardinally “re-equipped” arsenal of the XX1century scenic space multimedia technologies and the system of means of expressiveness of Lesya Ukrainka’s dramas in the context of conveying the content of these works to the audience, as well as in raising the issue of a more careful approach of modern direction to the ways of conveying and revealing the word of the creator relative to the dramatic works of Lesya Ukrainka as an exceptional phenomenon in the world dramaturgy. Conclusion. Lesya Ukrainka’s dramaturgy is in tune with the present time and corresponds to the aesthetic and civil tasks facing our art today. The Ukrainian theater is in urgent need of this dramaturgy. The poetess’s dramaturgy requires a modern but specific philosophic and poetic theater. To make it sound appropriate, it is necessary to be inspired by the Ukrainian art showing piety towards Lesya’s word and having a desire not just to act but to act namely Lesya Ukrainka, and to find the truth about life in her writing. For her plays it is very important to avoid pomposity which is typical of stage directors fascinated by visualization: there should not be any divertissements, any ball scenes except for those which are required by the unraveling of the plot.

Research-based theatre (RbT) is an innovative research methodology that draws on theatre practices and conventions to engage in and share research. It is an inherently collaborative and relational methodology, inviting research participants, artists and researchers to take part in embodied data generation, analysis and knowledge-exchange activities. This methodology encompasses writing, rehearsing and performing a research-based monologue, scene or play. In this article, the authors share three recent examples from interdisciplinary projects where researchers and artists engaged with different communities to dramatize data using an RbT methodological approach. To add to literature in the field, the authors consider their experiences leading RbT projects in three disparate fields: theatrical, social and therapeutic. The authors explore the question of how RbT transforms relationships and how relationships transform RbT.

Considering the large number of participants and the heterogeneity of the group, the research methodology of COBEREN has been defined in a very specific way. The authors implemented a mixed methodological approach, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques, and they used a various range of numerical, verbal, and even pictorial measurements. The scope for covering different dimensions of the consumer culture was made as open as possible but had to remain acceptable from the point of view of the survey response process. Finally, they successfully combined some a priori instructions/guidelines and some a posteriori adjustments/adaptations. This chapter introduces the data collection method, the sampling aspects, the questionnaire design and translation, implemented according to the general principles of the COBEREN methodology.

In this age of rising consumerism, it is evident that we need to move toward a more environmentally sustainable and socially just form of consumption patterns by surpassing the impasse currently faced by various sustainable consumption policies. Without any further delay, we need to embrace an apt methodological orientation to gain a better socioculturally situated conceptual understanding of consumers and a means to obtain empirical insights into drivers of socioenvironmentally impactful consumption patterns to be able to proceed toward efficacious sustainable consumption policies. This article proposes a phenomenological research methodology–based conceptual framing and a step-by-step methodological approach based on that framing to gain an in-depth understanding of how consumers being socioculturally situated identity projects–driven subjects embed consumer goods as integral parts of their life narratives and how that in turn acts as the drivers of their consumption. The elaborated steps of interpreting collected consumer narratives are presented with examples from an empirical research conducted in a few Indian cities. Critical reflections on diverse issues that may arise while employing this methodology in similar contexts like India are then discussed. The conclusion highlights how this understanding of consumer could make a novel contribution to sustainable consumption literature.

Objective: to examine the publications in education on-line in nursing through references in major databases from 2005 to 2009. Methods: literature review study conducted in the databases from Virtual Health Library from 2009/19/02 to 2009/24/04. For analysis of the information was held to organize the content found on the year, type of publication and methodological approach, the core content/production of knowledge and recommendations of the authors. Results: in 20 selected references were reviewed and 12 in the database Scielo, 06 in the BDENF and 14 in the Lilacs. It is tonic in the discussions of the authors studied: the development of training courses for nurses and midwives as well as courses in graduate programs via education on-line. Furthermore, it is necessary that the educational institutions and implement health education on-line investments in technological capabilities and infrastructure for teachers and learners. Conclusion: we note an evolution of education on-line in nursing in Brazil in which the possibilities of teaching in virtual environment for learning is everlasting and take into account some constraints relevant to interactivity as the availability of training courses and disciplines in undergraduate courses. As a contribution to the monographic issue of the Integral Transpersonal Journal, on the method of Biotransenergetics: an ontological methodology and clinical practice, this article focuses on Second Attention Epistemology, as an organismic-dynamic epistemological methodology intertwined with Biotransenergetics, and epistemologically concerned with the embodied further modes of knowing rooted in a perspective of transpersonal psychology. A corresponding research methodology is described here together with its embodied further mode of knowing, known as embodied understanding and embodied interpretation, the core concept in embodied phenomenological research methodology based on a transpersonal vision. The discussion exemplifies how these two approaches, Second Attention Epistemology and Embodied Phenomenology Research Methodology, may contribute to a re-complexifying of ourSelves in the world beyond a Cartesian divide. An organismic-dynamic mapping of inner experiences of states of consciousness is outlined, including a tool to access these states, called Transe Learning. Ontological concerns are discussed in relation to a transpersonal perspective. Our concluding thoughts focus on the nondual experience of human existence and point towards a culture of sharing embodied knowledge with community in dialogical, participative, and palpable ways.
