The work of Ukrainian artists who have contributed to Ukrainian and international art, is not sufficiently disclosed. Their creative search impresses with versatility, interesting decision, continues to impress and inspire contemporaries. Purpose of the article — to find out the contribution of the Ukrainian avant-garde artist, set designer, teacher Oleksandra Ekster, to the Ukrainian and international fine arts. Oleksandra Ekster’s work has been the subject of research for decades. Scientists are interested in the painter’s art search, her contribution to Ukrainian avant-garde, scenography reforms, and teaching activity. Some sources may state that Ekster is a representative of Russian avant-garde. However, the artist grew up in Kyiv, obtained art education and promoted with her work not only Ukrainian but world avant-garde as well. The research of modern scientists (H. Kovalenko, D. Horbachova, T. Filevska, N. Stoliarchuk, M. Yur and others) makes it possible to review the artist’s life and artistic journey as well as her contribution to art history. The research methodology consists of a range of methods: historical, biographical, theoretical. The abovementioned methodological approach allows studying the question of historical data relating to the events in Ukraine that led to the emigration waves, finding out certain biographical facts and analyzing the artist’s creative activity.

The purpose of the article is to establish the contribution of Ukrainian avant-garde artist, pedagogue, theorist Kazymyr Severynovych Malevych to the Ukrainian and world pictorial art. The methodology consists of a range of methods: historical, biographical, theoretical. The abovementioned methodological approach allows studying the question of historical data relating to the events in Ukraine that led to the emigration waves, finding out certain biographical facts and analyzing the artist’s creative activity. The scientific novelty of the research is in establishing Kazymyr Malevych’s contribution to the development of the Ukrainian and world pictorial art. We have studied the special features of his art, theoretical works and teaching activity, as these were an important factor in preserving and popularizing the Ukrainian culture. Conclusions. Malevych’s life and art have become the valuable heritage of the whole world. He influenced the development of visual arts with his activity and personally created direction in abstractionism. Guided by his own research and artistic search, he established a new direction in avant-garde art – suprematism, which became a unique phenomenon for fine art. His style was a major influence for visual arts, architecture and design. Malevych elaborated his own manner of teaching art to students. He was followed by Ukrainian and German constructivists, American minimalists and French abstractionists. His creative ideas are still relevant to this day.

Introduction: The article explores some processes that activate the creative potential of 7/8- year old children after mixed painting techniques introduction and application. Problems on a theoretical and empirical level are discussed, based primarily on the children's creative activity results and determined by the degrees of free experimental application of painting and non-painting materials.                                                                                                                                                                   Study Objective: The usage of some mixed techniques in the fine arts is considered and how they reflect on the dynamics of the children's education creative process. Methods: During the experimental work, the following methods are applied: monitoring and analysing the processes of working with different materials, experimenting with mixed painting techniques, composition analysis, image and richness of the expression means.                                                                                                                                                                                      Results: In the course of the study, it is established that the usage of more than one material for the pictorial activity significantly increases child creativity and better image in graphic and artistic terms are acquired, composition and richness of expression means are attained.                                                                                                                                                     Conclusions: The application of mixed painting techniques in fine art education of 7/8-year olds increases the creative activity, builds a lasting interest in the fine art, and enhances the emotional and aesthetic impact.

The subject of this research is the works of Kazimir Malevich of the period 1913–1914. Despite numerous scientific works and articles dedicated to the works of K. Malevich, the period of his becoming requires clarification. The object of this research is the Russian avant-garde art of 1913 – 1914. The author dwells on the compositional principles in the painter’s works of this period. Special attention is given to the colorful shapes and geometric elements underlying the compositions of his paintings. Analysis is conducted on the the path of Kazimir Severinovich, the transition from Futurism and Cubo-Futurism through Fevralism to the original style – suprematism. The philosophical and art history analysis in combination with the general scientific methods of research allowed developing a representation on the transformation the artistic pursuits of Kazimir Malevich towards the dominant of the black geometric colorful shape, which subsequently led to the creation of the “Black Square” and the formation of suprematism. The article examines and compares the paintings of the period 1913–1914, when Malevich had moved from being a mentee to creating his own artistic language. The study of the paintings by Kazimir Malevich and determination of large group of works similar in the techniques and colors used allows broadening and complementing the knowledge on the period prior to suprematism.

The presence of a wide range of views on the phenomenon of "imagination" as the psychological basis of creative activity to developing new material and spiritual values suggests that this phenomenon in the scientific view is still a problem. At the core of the problem is a contradiction: there is a creative activity that is carried out through imagination, but imagination itself as a phenomenon disappears during analysis, which makes it necessary to consider it based on a fundamentally new methodological approach. As a methodology proposed functional system approach. Considered, based on the proposed approach, the functioning of the verbal imagination in the process of creating a verbal image as an artificial system. In terms of the functional system approach, “verbal imagination” is defined as a metasystem - a complex of certain mental operations (actions) of a subject that arises and functions only when the subject needs to control and manage his cognitive processes during the creation of a verbal image.

The subject of the study is the author's special culturological approach to the development of modern domestic artistic blacksmithing, that is based on specific examples of the use of traditions and the involvement of innovative components in the development of blacksmithing. The article highlights the historical stages of development of blacksmithing as a craft of the past and its transformation into modern art. The purpose of the study is to try to determine the factors that directly influenced the overall formation of the state of modern Ukrainian blacksmithing.The methodology of the study is based on the principles of creative activity of blacksmiths, the study of scientific works of modern blacksmith theorists, art critics, culturologists and is aimed at comprehensive awareness of the specialized link of fine arts - artistic blacksmithing of Ukraine in the last third of the twentieth century to the present day and the factors that influenced the process of destruction and revival of ancient craft. Methods that were applied in the course of the study are comparative-historical, typological, systemic, analytical, source-critical. The author also used an interviewing method involving audio recording to create a database.Key words: Artistic blacksmithing, blacksmith, art, traditions, innovations.

This paper is devoted to the first domestic international conference Avant-Garde Movements in the Soviet Fine Arts: History and Modernity organised by the Department of the Art History of the Ural State University, by the Regional Department of Culture and by the White Gallery under the direction V.A. Malinov. The conference took place on January 19–21, 1990 in Sverdlovsk in the Cinema House. This event, which united art critics of the Urals, Siberia, Moscow, Kiev and Sofia, was one of the first sophisticated attempts to consider the issues faced by art movements which were not officially recognized and, therefore, existed “in the underground”. Due to various objective and subjective circumstances, local cultural strivings of that time were expressed more fully in painting and graphics than in other art forms. Sverdlovsk visual arts became well-known far beyond the region and played a special role in the city’s artistic life. The exhibition focused on the members of the art partnership ”Surikova, 31”. Almost two hundred artists and over six hundred works were presented in the 1987 exhibition. The exhibition stunned the public due to the age range of the artists, the explosion of movements and styles, and most of all the freedom of expression. Since then, exhibition activity has emerged from the basements and become public. Materials from the Ural conference 1990 are still interesting and relevant as part of the history of non-official art both in Sverdlovsk/Yekaterinburg and Russia in general. ABSTRACT In this essay, we intend to revisit the trieiros and alleys that led to the notions of poetnography and the lived field, with a methodological approach towards the creative work in performing arts. In the act of revisiting, we also seek to observe the developments, update and discuss the conceptual and ethical challenges involved in the work with popular knowledge and Afro-Amerindian poetics form a decolonial perspective. The discussion is based on the authors' own production on the subject, but flirts with Performance Studies. A poetnographic research is presented so, not only as an artistic result, but as a process that reveals otherness, reinforces or problematizes identities, constructs or reconstructs imagery, in an inseparable confluence between art, education and politics.

In the early 1980s, the nonconformist art movement in Odesa, which had been developing since the mid-1950s, was widened by a new generation of artists. Their art searches differed significantly from their senior colleagues, which led to the formation of a separate movement within nonconformism, which later became known as APTART. The differences were mainly in the worldview of artists, aesthetics, themes, artistic techniques. The art of the new generation was closer to the Western neo-avant-garde, while their older colleagues tended toward modernism. The presence of two different well-defined movements within the nonconformism, a phenomenon in itself countercultural to official culture, distinguished the artistic process in Odesa in the 1980s from other cities in Ukraine. It is these features of the artistic life of that time, still insufficiently covered and analysed. The text considers the part of the work of the Odesa APTART artists, which the most clearly displays the elements of neo-avant-garde aesthetics, that, accordingly, affected the artistic means: acts, performances happenings; the differences between the two groups of artists belonging to the nonconformist subculture were analysed. Specific acts, works of the APTART artists opposed to the background of creative activity of their colleagues are considered. The stages of the APTART artists’ creativity development are traced. Within the disclosure of the research theme, the text highlights the processes of nonconformist artistic life in the main cities of Ukraine, traces parallels to similar phenomena in world art. Due to the experience of recent researches, the terms that directly affect the subject of the paper are specified: nonconformism, informal art, avant-garde, modernism, neo-avant-garde.

Abstract This essay looks at art education in Russia in the nineteenth century, specifically at artist-training practices at institutions such as the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts and the Imperial Society for the Encouragements of the Arts in St. Petersburg. Particular emphasis is on the role and significance of Pavel Chistiakov and Jan Ciągliński, charismatic teachers who developed their distinct art-pedagogical systems as an alternative to the existing academic system and paved the way for the emergence of modern art and the avant-garde in Russia.

The article presents a methodological approach to studying iterative processes in the school course of geometry, by the example of constructing a Koch snowflake fractal curve and calculating a few characteristics of it. The interactive creative environment 1C:MathKit is chosen to visualize the method discussed. By performing repetitive constructions and algebraic calculations using ICT tools, students acquire a steady skill of work with geometric objects of various levels of complexity, comprehend the possibilities of mathematical interpretation of iterative processes in practice, and learn how to understand the dialectical unity between finite and infinite parameters of flat geometric figures. When students are getting familiar with such contradictory concepts and categories, that replenishes their experience of worldview comprehension of the subject areas they study through the concept of “big ideas”. The latter allows them to take a fresh look at the processes in the world around. The article is a matter of interest to schoolteachers of computer science and mathematics, as well as university scholars who teach the course “Concepts of modern natural sciences”.
