In this chapter, the author examines the possibility of applying the servant leadership concept's critical components in the innovation management process. The author, based on his own experience as a top manager of a prominent Russian public company, reveals the importance of a proactive approach to managing innovative projects. The chapter's objective is to develop the rules for the proactive management of innovative project portfolios and, based upon these rules, to lead the team of key personnel. The author concludes that while following the five rules of proactive management of innovative projects, the manager becomes a team's servant-leader. The manager is not suppressing the team's initiative, not depriving them of the right to independently understand current events, and arming them with self-immersion tools in the project's details. The author is confident that the presented approach may be of interest to other practicing innovative managers.

This paper discusses the technological innovativeness in engineering enterprises in Tanzania and analyses the factors affecting the innovativeness. It starts by analyzing various concepts regarding innovation, then analyzed from documentary review factors affecting innovativeness and then analyzed the innovativeness in Tanzanian enterprises.From the documentary review it was learnt that the following key factors influence technological innovativeness: Existence of innovation management; Existence of market to absorb the products of innovation; Existence of partnership between the universities and the firms; Existence of positive culture and politics towards innovation; The governmentplaying its role to influence innovation; Existence of the right knowledge; and Ability of the enterprises to access to financing institutions that support innovation.The research shows that there is hardly any fundamental innovation in Tanzania, what is presented as innovation is the copying of technologies and manufacture them using local material. Theresearcher established the following factors affecting the innovativeness of engineering enterprises in Tanzania: Level of education among the entrepreneurs in engineering enterprises; financing for the enterprises in Tanzania; partnership with R&D institutions; innovativeness culture; and market for Tanzanian products.

Open innovation holds great potential for improving the efficiency of companies' innovation processes, but also presents substantial risks. A key issue in innovation management is finding the right balance of openness, i.e., determining how open companies should be in their innovation activities. However, academics and business practitioners hold conflicting notions of what constitutes open innovation practice and of how "open innovation companies" are defined. In this paper, we present three in-depth case studies of global R&D-intensive companies, where we find that the firms' perception of their openness differs from their actual situation (as determined by the innovation practices that they apply), and that each company has a different view as to what constitutes open innovation. We claim that resolving conceptual ambiguity and differentiating between openness (as a philosophical aspect) and open innovation (as a way of structuring the innovation process) in research is critical in order to clarify the current state of open innovation research and enable the communication of results to practitioners.

The aim of this article is to describe the relationship between theoretical knowledge management assumptions and knowledge management process involving Models and Awards for Management Excellence in Latin America.  Relevant literature was reviewed by carrying out a survey based on document analysis involving requirement of models and awards for excellence in management in the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. This research study used qualitative data-collecting methods by means of a content analysis technique, carried out between February 2013 and December 2014.  The corpus was treated by using a content analysis technique, where categories of analysis were codified based on criteria, items and management process requirements of the models investigated. The findings show that the mains theoretical knowledge management assumptions are present, in some degree, in models of management excellence in Latin America, but highlight the fact that these models present different structure and maturity levels, some of which combine knowledge management with strategic perspectives and innovation management. This survey made it possible to produce consistent analyses based on pre-existing models that consider knowledge management as the basis of organization.

In an organization, there are three main targets for the application of information systems and information techniques that will be applied. In the information management process, automation is needed. This will help work efficiency. It is necessary to fulfill the need for information that will be used in decision making in management to increase effectiveness. There needs to be a change in the style and way of doing business in the company in order to increase competitiveness with competing companies. The goals or goals of a company and strategies in IT will enable us to achieve the 3 targets above, therefore it is necessary to have the right organizational business strategy that leads to the company's goals, as well as support that comes from designing IT infrastructure that is in accordance with the organization's business strategy in IT strategy.An understanding of the organization's business strategy needs to be mastered in order to be able to develop an appropriate IT strategy so that it can be a supporter of achieving the company's vision and mission. The ward and peppard methodologies will be used in the explanation of the following IT/IS strategic planning stages.

Event Management, as a field of study, is relatively nascent. Attempts have been made by some scholars to define a workable framework that includes collaboration from different knowledge disciplines or industry services (Getz, 2000). However, as with many other fields of study, research reacts to the phenomena happening in the outside world, and attempts to find the right solution to standardize individuals’ and organisations’ practice. While we understand the gap between academia and practice, where the latter is always advancing due to actual needs on the ground, we also believe that adopting a proactive approach in research to provide the right solutions and run proper training programs, can help to bridge this gap and provide real value to practice.

Failure to appropriately measure Value is one of the reasons for slow reform in health. Value brings together quality and cost, both defined around the patient. With technology we can measure value in the new ways: commercially developed algorithms are capable of mining large, connected data sets to present accurate information for patients and providers. But how do we align these new capabilities with clinical and operational realities, and further with individual privacy? The right amount of information, shared at the right time, can improve practitioners' ability to choose treatments, and patients' motivation to provide consent and follow the treatment. Dynamic Consent, where IT is used to determine just what patients are consenting to share, can address the inherent conflict between the demand from AI for access to data and patients' privacy principles. This chapter describes a pragmatic Commercial Development framework for building digital health tool. It overlays Value Model for healthcare IT investments with Patient Activation Measures and innovation management techniques.

The research conducted here looks at the current Urban Aboriginal Strategy (UAS) in Toronto. The purpose of this Strategy is to provide long-term investments to support Aboriginal communities in urban settings by focusing on three priority areas: improving life skills; promoting job training, skills, and entrepreneurship; and supporting Aboriginal women, children, and families. This article seeks to answer the following question: Does the UAS provide Aboriginal participants with the ability to effectively participant in the consultation process? It argues that the UAS process of consulting with the urban Aboriginal community does not allow for the effective participation of Aboriginal peoples because of problematics related to consulting in an urban setting and despite the language of partnership, the federal government still reserves the right to make final decisions. These problems diminish the ability to build renewed Aboriginal-State relations based on mutual respect and trust, which has been absent within the Aboriginal-State apparatus and resulted in the political exclusion of Aboriginals in Canada. Though consultation can be a vehicle for empowering participants with decision-making authority, this is not the case in Toronto. The lack of a common vision, political buy-in, and the aura of secrecy leads to a political relationship built on mistrust. Mistrust between members and government renders the consultation process ineffective. This article combines the literature on public consultations with official government documents to identify critical components that must be evident for consultations to be fruitful and participation effective. These criteria are the benchmarks upon which to measure effectiveness. Based on interviews with the Steering Committee, this article finds that the UAS process of consulting with the Toronto Aboriginal community does not enable Aboriginal participants to effectively participate in the democratic process.

The current business environment is characterized by high competition between companies as well as global challenges and growing technological progress. Businesses must constantly adapt to changes in the business environment, changes in the market environment and the constantly changing requirements of customers. There are currently several tools and ways to respond to these changes. One of the most important areas can be considered corporate strategy, because it determines the basic direction of the company. An important area is also marketing, which affects the overall business activity. Determining the right marketing strategy has an important impact on the overall direction of the company. Another important element of the current time in the field of business is innovation, which can be considered a basic prerequisite for the success of the company. The issue of innovation management is currently one of the basic conditions for maintaining a market position and maintaining competitiveness. The aim of the article is to point out the theoretical basis of the corporate strategy, marketing strategy and the importance of innovation in business. Subsequently, based on secondary findings, we analyze available selected data related to innovation in Slovakia.

This research will investigate on the strategic management process of the entrepreneurship and innovation activities of Oman Telecommunication Company (OMANTEL).  It will assess the chosen organization’s (Omantel) characteristic that is facilitating innovative process, implement activities that establishes an innovative environment within the structure of an organisation and analyse the strategic approach of the company’s innovation management.  Moreso, this will also outline a discussion on the dynamics and characteristics of Omantel company and how the ICV policy could be improved; and  will analyse as well the strategic management process adopted by Omantel company in driving entrepreneurship and innovation. To achieve these objectives, the relevant sources of information to be utilized include online articles, books and relevant entrepreneurship, innovation and SME journals.  Finally, recommendations were made to improve the organization’s innovation process; foremost of which  is a program that would provide new skills and knowledge to employees to foster creativity and innovation across organization.
