Cloud computing represents a new era of using high quality and a lesser quantity of resources in a number of premises. In cloud computing, especially infrastructure base resources (IAAS), cost denotes an important factor from the service provider. So, cost reduction is the major challenge but at the same time, the cost reduction increases the time which affects the quality of the service provider. This challenge in depth is related to the balance between time and cost resulting in a complex decision-based problem. This analysis helps in motivating the use of learning approaches. In this article, the proposed multi-tasking convolution neural network (M-CNN) is used which provides learning of task-based deadline and cost. Further, provides a decision for the process of task scheduling. The experimental analysis uses two types of dataset. One is the tweets and the other is Genome workflow and the comparison of the method proposed has been done with the use of distinct approaches such as PSO and PSO-GA. Simulated results show significant improvement in the use of both the data sets.

One of the most unique forms of contracting is apparent in cloud computing. Cloud computing, unlike other conventional methods, has adopted a different approach in the formation of binding contract that will be used for the governance of the cloud. This method is namely the clickwrap agreement. Click wrap agreement follows a take it or leave it basis in which the end users are provided with limited to no option in terms of having a say on the contract that binds them during the use of cloud services. The terms found in the contract are often cloud service provider friendly and will be less favourable to the end user. In this article, the authors examine the terms that are often found in the cloud computing agreement as well as study the benefit that is entailed in adopting this contracting method. This chapter has undertaken a qualitative study that comprises interviews of cloud service providers in Malaysia. Hence, this study is a novel approach that also provides insight in terms of the cloud service provider perspective regarding the click wrap agreement.

Current frugal design practice is focused on the cost reduction of the product. Despite advancements in the domain of frugal Innovation, it is not systematized to develop products for all sets of users, including marginalized society. Many design researchers and engineers now dedicate time and knowledge to producing practical solutions to enhance the quality of life of the marginal community. The approach currently being adopted restricts the development of products intended for all segments of the users. In this paper, cumulative frequency distribution analysis and the Relative Importance Index is used to identify the essential attributes, which contribute to delivering actual frugal products in terms of functionality, usability, performance, affordability, accessibility, aesthetics, and robustness. The framework is beneficial to eradicate the discriminatory effect of being labeled as “Jugaad” users.

Considering the cost reduction in automotive processes, in the case of mechatronic devices that use2-3 colours for symbols, a solution is to replace the multi-component molding injection with the painting of a white component substrate in different colours. However, combined painting techniques, namelypad-painting and spray-painting, can lead to many risks, especially when those symbols are obtained bylaser etching, so removing the final paint layer to let only the first coloured layer be visible. The paper's aim is to present the analysis and reduction of the variation due to the different thickness of the coating layers as well as their drying level by using the ultrasonic measuring techniques and the optical microscopy cross-section to reduce the over-adjusting of the engraving parameters and to improve the final quality of the symbols.

Cloud computing is a model for conveying data innovation benefits in which assets are recovered from the web through online devices and applications, instead of an immediate association with a server. Clients can set up and boot the required assets and they need to pay just for the required assets. Subsequently, later on giving a component to a productive asset administration and the task will be a vital target of Cloud computing. Load balancing is one of the major concerns in cloud computing, and the main purpose of it is to satisfy the requirements of users by distributing the load evenly among all servers in the cloud to maximize the utilization of resources, to increase throughput, provide good response time and to reduce energy consumption. To optimize resource allocation and ensure the quality of service, this article proposes a novel approach for load-balancing based on the enhanced ant colony optimization.

Cloud computing is the most utilized and evolving technology in the past few years and has taken computing to a whole new level such that even common man is receiving the benefits. The end user in cloud computing always prefers a cloud service provider which is efficient, reliable and best quality of service at the lowest possible price. A cloud based gaming system relieves the player from the burden of possessing high end processing and graphic units. The storage of games hosted in clouds using the latest technologies in cloud has been discussed in detail. The Quality of service of games hosted in cloud is the main focus of this chapter and we have proposed a mathematical model for the same. The various factors in dealing with the quality of service on cloud based games have been analyzed in detail. The quality of experience of cloud based games and its relation with quality of service has been derived. This chapter focuses on the various storage techniques, quality of experience factors and correlates the same with QoS in cloud based games.

Numerous problem areas were encountered in the evaluation of a voluntary second surgical opinion program. Some problems could be handled only on a conceptual level, while others require for their solution the integration of existing with new data sets. (1) Reliance on program participants to provide medical data was sensitivity tested and found to have minimal impact. (2) Program impact on hospital bed reduction was considered in the context of the total market and political environment in the region, and the anticipated duration of the program. A reasonable judgment was that almost the entire fixed component in the per diem cost of anticipated patient days foregone could be written off as part of the cost savings of the program. (3) As hospital reporting systems identify only average per diem costs, a methodology was developed to separate surgical from nonsurgical case costs. (4) Quality of care evaluation will incorporate a substratum of cases for which there exists a control group within the program user population. Outcome measures obtainable through survey interviews were identified.

AbstractPredicting demand for computing resources in any system is a vital task since it allows the optimized management of resources. To some degree, cloud computing reduces the urgency of accurate prediction as resources can be scaled on demand, which may, however, result in excessive costs. Numerous methods of optimizing cloud computing resources have been proposed, but such optimization commonly degrades system responsiveness which results in quality of service deterioration. This paper presents a novel approach, using anomaly detection and machine learning to achieve cost-optimized and QoS-constrained cloud resource configuration. The utilization of these techniques enables our solution to adapt to different system characteristics and different QoS constraints. Our solution was evaluated using a system located in Microsoft’s Azure cloud environment, and its efficiency in other providers’ computing clouds was estimated as well. Experiment results demonstrate a cost reduction ranging from 51% to 85% (for PaaS/IaaS) over the tested period.

The median filter is an important filter in many image processing algorithms and especially in removal of salt and pepper noise. Traditional median filters either focus on improving the performance or the quality of the median filtering. Generally, the methods which optimize performance do so at the cost of quality and vice-versa. In this paper a novel approach to median filtering is presented providing both better performance and quality without sacrificing either. The analysis is presented with respect to image processing and the results obtained are presented in tabular form.

The idea of cloud computing aligns with new dimension emerging in service-oriented infrastructure where service provider does not own physical infrastructure but instead outsources to dedicated infrastructure providers. Cloud computing has now become a new computing paradigm as it can provide scalable IT infrastructure, QoS-assured services, and customizable computing environment. However, it still remains a challenging task to provide QoS assured services to serve customers with minimized cost, while also to guarantee the maximization of the business objectives (e.g. margin profit) to service provider and infrastructure provider within certain constraints. In order to address these issues, this chapter proposes a QoS-oriented service computing methodology, and discusses associated topics including service level agreement and associated reference architecture, green service, service metering and metrics, service monitoring, and on-demand resource provisioning. In the case study, we demonstrate how we employ QoS-oriented service computing in a multi-server, multi-user on-line game to facilitate the on-demand resource provisioning to maintain quality of service and quality of experience.
