With the increased importance of the Internet and the use of social media, new opportunities and challenges emerge to manage the relationship with audiences and online communities. While the professional world already acknowledged such dynamics, further analysis is needed in the academic scene. A survey conducted in the sports setting shows that the perception of social networks influences athletes' e-reputation. However, the motives for following athletes online have no influence on their e-reputation. Finally, the results highlight that e-reputation is not affected by negative content on the internet. This research has both academic and managerial contributions regarding online reputation and social media.

The goal of this research paper is to examine the frequency of use of social media by high school students in Serbia, as well as whether they use the social media to keep themselves informed and adopt informal knowledge, that is, to educate themselves. With regards to this topic, several research goals were set. The respondents were 155 students from “Prva kragujevačka gimnazija” (transl.: The First High School of Kragujevac) and “Prva tehnička škola” (transl.: The First Technical School) in Kragujevac, from 1st to 4th grade. The sample included 86 boys (55.5%) and 69 girls (44.5%). The questionnaire with 13 items was created specifically for this survey and it included the answer choices for the specific phenomena we investigated. Descriptive statistics was used during this research. Research findings suggest that high school students in Serbia spend more and more time on social media, primarily on Facebook (133 out of 155 respondents) which they also see as a source of information. Moreover, 49% of the respondents claimed that they trust this type of information and find it significant in peer-to-peer communication. Although more than a half of the respondents do not adopt role models and idols through social media, 45% of them still said that they have this tendency. Furthermore, this research has also shown that the largest number of respondents express their personal views on social media, two to three times a week.

Social networks are a way of creating a virtual identity and entering into relationships with strangers in a series of interactions that were not known to a man before the existence of the Internet. Mobile phones and the virtual world often create a personality of a person that is not the same in the real world. It can be said that technology has changed the course of humanity and human consciousness and contributed to many changes in the mentality of society, especially among the youth. Children are often overwhelmed by materialism and jealousy, which further encourages them to become an unconscious, immoral and unambitious population. One of the negative effects of social networks is the abuse of privacy, which is also becoming a growing problem everywhere in the world and should not be ignored. However, a positive attitude should be maintained when it comes to social networks, because they facilitate communication, access to information and learning, greater availability of services and free advertising of some products or services. High school students use the Internet intensively every day, and the work raises the question of whether they use it constructively or destructively. The research was conducted in 2019, the population of high school students was observed and 100 students were included on the territory of Belgrade, Niš and Vitina.

People use social media as a means to share everything about themselves and their daily lives. Many users tell stories or things they see that can attract the attention and sympathy of many people in social media. One of the cases that went viral at the beginning of 2019 was a case of alleged violence that had befallen 17-years old Pontianak SMPN (junior high school) student named Audrey who claimed to have been persecuted by several high school students. The Audrey case drew attention of many circles and was viral through the hashtag JusticeForAudrey on Twitter social media in April 2019. The hashtag had even occupied the world trending. The viral hashtag 'JusticeForAudrey' and the reaction of a number of public figures to this case made many people sympathetic and gave support to Audrey. Through the power of social media, this case was widespread and reached various groups in cyberspace. The issue of humanity is indeed an issue that is able to bring sympathy from everyone, but this can immediately change and turn around against the victim when unexpected new evidence & findings are revealed. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of sadfishing (provoking sadness) from a teenager named Audrey who intentionally uploaded and portrayed her sadness on social media to be viral and brought a lot of public attention. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The theory applied in this study is related to the use of social media, namely media system dependency theory (MSD) or media dependency.
