This paper is based on Abaqus finite element software platform and Tosca structure optimization software, with the purpose to improve the strength-to-weight ratio of Z-axis supporting plate. The writer adopts weight topology optimization to carry out finite element analysis, topology optimization analysis and verification to Z-axis supporting plate, thus getting the best material allocation solution. The modal frequency and dynamic performance of the product are greatly improved at the same time when ensuring the static precision of the product.

A constraint condition finite element analysis mode of the high speed PCB drilling machine Z-axis bottom plate was established on the platform of Abaqus. And then an optimal structural mode of a Z-axis supporting plate was obtained by means of performing constraint modal analysis and dynamic analysis optimization on the structure of the Z-axis supporting plate. modal tests and analyses were performed on the Z-axis plate before and after the optimization with the application of an LMS vibration/dynamic signal acquisition and analysis system. The experimental results were shown that the tested Z-axis plate dynamic characteristics were basically consistent with the obtained Z-axis supporting plate mode from simulation analyses using the finite element software Abaqus. It was proved that using the finite element software was feasible for optimizing the Z-axis supporting plate structure.

The article has analyzed the changes of temperature of different materials of the spindle, and considered 170SD30 Ceramic Motorized Spindle and the same model Metal Motorized Spindle as the research objects, analyzed the inside heat source and heat transfer mechanism of the high-speed motorized spindle; used finite element software to set up the model of the motorized spindle, and did simulation and analysis. Verified by simulation, heat transfer rate of ceramic materials is slower than the metallic materials, in actual operation of the process, due to different materials have different heat transfer rate, so the temperature distribution of the different materials of motorized spindle are different. This conclusion provides the basis to solve motorized spindle temperature field distribution.

Steering knuckle connects steering system, suspension system and braking system to the chassis. The steering knuckle contributes a significant weight to the total weight of a vehicle. Increasing the efficiency of an automobile without compromising the performances is the major challenge faced by the manufacturers. This paper presents an effective topology optimization of steering knuckle used in a vehicle with the primary objective of minimizing weight. The study on optimization of knuckle is divided into two phases, the first phase involves making of a computer-aided design model of the original steering knuckle and carry out finite element analysis on the knuckle by estimating the loads, which are acting on the component. In the second phase, design optimization of the model of steering knuckle is carried out, and excess material is removed at the region where induced stress is negligible as obtained in finite element analysis assuming standard boundary and loading conditions. The paper describes a research work carried out to optimize structural topology giving the essential details. The methodology may be applied to optimize structural components used in applications where the ratio of desired properties to the cost, generally in terms of weight, is to be optimized. In the case of automobiles, strength to weight ratio has to be maximized. New researchers working in the area will have an understanding of the procedures, and further, the techniques may be applied to design in general.

A new permanent magnet bias axial magnetic bearing (PMAB) is introduced, then the structure and operation principle are analyzed. The equivalent magnetic circuit is established to deduce the mathematic expression. The parameter design and calculation of the magnetic bearing are presented including available area of magnetic pole, ampere - turns of control coils etc. The parameters of the proposed prototype are also given. The 3-D magnetic field simulation is performed by using the Finite Element software. The theory analysis and the simulation show that the maximum suspension magnetic force satisfies the design requirement. The magnetic suspension forces have better linearity and symmetry around the balanced position. Therefore, the proposed PMAB is suitable for the high speed or low loss occasions.

This paper took the high-speed wire rod rolling process of φ20 bar as the research object, to be simulated numerically under the work platform of the finite element software DEFORM. The simulation results were compared with the actual operation of the production process, the rolling simulation reappeared the actual production situation, realized the visualization of the rolling process. After analysis, the defects of rolling technology were found out. Based on the research, the optimum design was gotten and then simulated which improved the actual production process and avoided the original defects. The optimum design is feasible to practical production and reduce the cost of test in practice The paper just focused on the first one of 12 rolling process as an example to show the simulating process and results.

The objective of this paper is to design and analyze a horizontal tank on saddle supports. The horizontal vessel is to store various chemicals used in today’s industry. The over all dimensions of the horizontal vessel are determined from the capacity of the stored chemicals. These dimensions are first determined. The design function is performed using the ASME Code Sec VIII Div 1. The horizontal tank design is broken up into (a) shell design, (b) two elliptical heads and (c) two saddle supports. The designed dimensions are used to recalculate the stresses for the horizontal vessel. The dimensioned horizontal vessel with saddle supports and the saddle support structure is modeled using STAAD III finite element software. The stresses from the finite element software are compared with the stresses obtained from calculated stresses by ASME Code Sec VIII Div 1 and L. P. Zick’s analysis printed in 1951. The difference in the stress value is explained. This paper’s main objective is to compare the code design to the finite element analysis. The design is found to be safe for the specific configuration considered.

The shaft as an important parts of automobile transmission system, in the process of the car have the effect of rotational speed and torque. Due to the structural characteristics of its low frequency, small stiffness, universal joint, such as the existence of the additional moment drive shaft inevitably exist when high speed vibration phenomenon. So the shaft vibration problems to deal with the vehicle ride comfort, comfort and dynamic performance has important significance. On the basis of the finite element software ANSYS, the physical design of drive shaft. Analyzes the mapping grid finite element model of transmission shaft, facilitate accurate transmission shaft strength calculation. Based on the inherent frequency and vibration model of finite element method to calculate transmission shaft, using experimental modal technology for modal analysis of the shaft, the test results verify the reliability of the finite element model. On this basis, the drive shaft assembly constraint modal finite element analysis, can be used as the basis of further research.

Taking the type of a double-row tapered roller bearing of a high speed railway passenger coach as research object, the analysis for tapered roller with logarithmic profile has been done. Through the comparison of contact stresses at different crowning values by the finite element software has been done, the best crowning value has been got. There is a certain error between the theory of crowning value and the best crowning value by researching.

In order to meet the requirements of high-speed train's safe operation, the horizontal displacement of high-speed railway bridge pier top must be strictly controlled. This paper relies on one road construction engineering beneath an existing high-speed railway bridge. We use 2D finite element software to analyze the magnitude and direction of pier top horizontal displacement caused by road load. We take it into account that the effect of the soil nature on pier top horizontal displacement. The analysis showed that the nature of soil around piles of high-speed railway bridge is closely related to the magnitude and direction of the pier top horizontal displacement. Authors believe that the horizontal displacement of pier top consists of two parts. One is pier top pure horizontal displacement dragged by horizontal displacement of the top of piles, the other is pier top rotation horizontal displacement driven by the rotation of pile cap. The analysis result can be used for the design of road with embankment structure beneath high-speed railway bridge.
