AbstractPoloidal–toroidal magnetic field decomposition is a useful application of the Mie representation and the decomposition method enables us to determine the current density observationally and unambiguously in the local region of magnetic field measurement. The application and the limits of the decomposition method are tested against the Mercury magnetic field simulation in view of BepiColombo’s arrival at Mercury in 2025. The simulated magnetic field data are evaluated along the planned Mercury Planetary Orbiter (MPO) trajectories and the current system that is crossed by the spacecraft is extracted from the magnetic field measurements. Afterwards, the resulting currents are classified in terms of the established current system in the vicinity of Mercury. Graphical Abstract

Abstract Oxides accumulated in the inner bend of austenite heating tubes of super critical units may cause overheat and bursting. Traditional methods could not examine oxides blocking ratio. A magnetic field simulation of the boiler tube’s oxide skin blockage model has been set up in this paper. The influence of different wall thickness and different accumulation of oxide on the distribution of magnetic field was analyzed. It was demonstrated that the blockage oxide scale could be quantitatively measured by the amplitude and distribution of magnetic field.

Abstract In this research article, the working of conventional clutch (CC) filled with magnetorheological (MR) fluid was tested at low compressive load. The flexible permanent magnetic sheet (FMS) controlled the chain strength of MR fluid. A single clutch plate based on FMS was fabricated and tested on the developed test rig. The characteristics of the developed single plate MR clutch (SPMRC) were found by the testing and mathematical calculations. Magnetic circuit analysis presents the magnetic field distribution in the developed MR clutch. The mathematical expression for the torque transmission due to shear and compression is presented. COMSOL Multiphysics 5.3a software is used for the magnetic field simulation at different loading conditions. The temperature distribution in the developed clutch is simulated and experimented. It is observed from the results that the input shaft oscillation in the reduces more during disengagement in the SPMRC than the CC.

In order to obtain the influence of different structures and frequencies on the thrust of cylindrical permanent magnet linear synchronous motor, the transient simulation of magnetic field of cylindrical permanent magnet linear synchronous motor is carried out by using Ansoft software, and the correctness of the simulation is verified by experiments. Through simulation, the characteristics of the linear motor under different voltage frequency, air gap size, and permanent magnet width and its influence on the linear motor thrust are obtained.

Electric vehicles have gained more and more attention because of the serious oil crisis and environmental problems. However, the disadvantages of the electric vehicle, such as short driving range, high battery cost, and inconvenient charging, are hindering its market development and expansion. The realization of on-road wireless power transfer technology can effectively solve the problems of short driving range, prevent the battery from being completely discharged to prolong its service life, and reduce requirement of on-board battery. In this paper, the charging mode and the compensation topology of wireless power transfer technology are discussed and then the equivalent circuit model of segmental wireless power transfer system is built. We carried out some magnetic field simulation to analyze how the track shape and length influence coupling coefficient, which is later verified by experiments.
