This paper is concerned with an analysis of the dynamic characteristics of the high performance launcher—rarefaction wave gun(RAVEN) by numerical simulation. Based on its launch mechanism and launch structure, a rigid-flexible coupling dynamic model which considered the coupling effect between the flexible virbation of the launch barrel and the motion behaviors of the other parts of the RAVEN is established via a subsystems method. The actual motion of the projectile and inertial breech during the lauching are described by the interior ballistic equations of the RAVEN. The dynamic characterisitcs of RAVEN is illustrated by the numerical simulation about a small caliber launcher, and the interaction between launch barrel and the other parts is also studied.

Rarefaction wave gun (RAVEN) propulsion has renewed interest in the fundamental limits of recoil reductions attainable by redirecting propellant gases rearward from a gun without compromising the projectile propulsion. Compared with a conventional gun there is a great difference in the launch process and launch structure. This paper is concerned with an analysis of the dynamic characteristics of this high performance weapon system by numerical simulation. Based on its launch mechanism and launch structure, the vibration equation describing the vibration characteristics of RAVEN was established by vibration theory, which considered the actual movement of the projectile and inertial breech by coupling the interior ballistic equations of the rarefaction wave gun. A rigid-flexible dynamic model, which considered the coupling effect between the elastic vibration of the launch barrel and the dynamic behaviors of the other parts of the RAVEN, is established via a subsystem method. The vibration response of RAVEN during the launch is analyzed by numerical simulation. Comparisons are presented based on the conventional gun, as well as the rules of how the different parameters affect the vibration response. During the launching of RAVEN, the launch barrel shows significant vibration due to the effect of the propellant gases, the inertial breech, and the projectile, and there is some reduction in the vibration amplitude compared with that observed in a conventional closed chamber gun. The vibration amplitude and duration of the launch barrel, which increased with a decrease in the loading density, an increase in the mass of the inertial breech and projectile, and a delay of the venting time, is affected in a more significant manner by changes in loading density and the mass of projectile. The coupled effect between the launch barrel and the other parts of RAVEN are most prevalent in the z-direction. The vibration amplitude along the z-direction is higher than that of the y-direction. When the coupled effect is considered, the transverse vibration response of the flexible barrel has some reduction compared with the one that does not exhibit the coupling effect.

Abstract Aiming at the problem that the firing accuracy of barrel weapon is affected by the violent vibration during continuous firing, a double-nozzle vibration controller using the energy of gunpowder gas in the chamber is proposed. The synchronous external injection of the double nozzles of the controller is realized by the delayed ejection of the rear nozzles, so as to generate a power couple to balance the recoil flipping torque of the barrel weapon to achieve the stable firing effect of reducing the bore vibration. A double-nozzle vibration controller with a delayed rear nozzle for a chain gun is designed. The rigid-flexible coupling dynamic model of a chain gun with a double-nozzles vibration controller was established considering the two-phase flow of propellant gas in the barrel and airway. The numerical simulation of the muzzle vibration characteristics of the original weapon and a chain gun equipped with a double-nozzles vibration controller is carried out respectively, and the effectiveness of the double-nozzles dynamic couple vibration controller for the continuous firing vibration control of the barrel weapon is verified.

A vertical rigid-flexible coupling dynamic model of three articulated vehicles with car body flexibility is established, Green functions are utilized to solve the partial differential equation of each car body, and the mechanism of car body flexible resonance is analyzed. Results show that geometry filtering phenomenon exists in articulated train, when the car body first vertical bending frequency coincides with the frequencies which have the peak values of car body bounce acceleration transmissibility, resonant vibration of flexible car body will happen; The energy of track irregularity decreases rapidly with the increasing frequency, so it is important to avoid the car body resonance at low frequency; If the first vertical bending frequency of car body is greater than a certain value, the flexible resonance will have little effect on the ride quality.

Abstract Flexible couplings are used to transmit power between two shafts and accommodate, more realistically, a combination of parallel, axial and angular misalignments, between them. Presence of misalignment of certain degree is considered unavoidable. The coupling also attenuates the transmission of fluctuation of torque and speed from one rotor to the other by flexing itself, and is thus helpful in providing nearly smooth transmission of speed and torque. However, in this process, the dynamic behavior of the rotors is also influenced by the coupling characteristics, as the coupling incorporates a flexible damped intermediate member between the shafts it couples. A detailed literature survey has shown that researchers so far have not attempted to find out the dynamic characteristics, the stiffness and damping of a coupling, and, instead, the effect of misalignment (combination of parallel and angular misalignment) is considered to generate forces independent of the coupling characteristics. This paper attempts to find out an analytical model for the dynamic characteristic of segmented link coupling in terms of suitable non-dimensional coefficients to generate the characteristics of a coupling element which may be used for dynamic analysis of coupled rotor shaft system.

Performance simulation for driver-tricycle-road hasn’t been reported currently. According to rigid-flexible coupling dynamic theory, this article took the frame and the spring as the spatial flexible body, used the UA tire model, considered the engine and the road surface drove, established tricycle rigid-flexible coupling dynamic model based on driver-tricycle-road environment and simulated its system modality, acceleration and brake dynamic characteristic. The simulation result indicated this tricycle has the good dynamic performance and the conclusion has the important project practical value.

This paper is based on the complex multiple vehicular missile launch simulation model, researches the influence of combustion jet flow to the initial disturbance of missile. It establishes rigid-flexible coupling dynamic model by use of Adams and Ansys, and calculates the value of combustion jet flow field in missile box by means of Fluent. The rigid-flexible coupling dynamic simulation for the whole launch process is carried out. The study results show that the simulation with loading jet flow can accurately tend to real launch environment, it has great significance to optimize the simulation and to improve the accuracy of the simulation.
