Home Automation Systems are mainly targeted towards people with physical difficulties for movement. The proposed Voice Assisted Home Automation System (VAHAS) enables one to control all electrical equipment and peripheral devices by means of just one’s voice. By means of interfacing the devices (which could include lights, televisions, air conditioners and so on) with the Linux powered main device running our software, via RF enabled switches, the system responds to the user’s voice commands and intelligently activates, deactivates and changes the state of the appliances. The paper elucidates the actual implementation of a low cost device and shows the results produced by the system. Scalability and customer accessibility of the system is also considered during design.

This paper presents technology which deals with low cost and efficient for example Bluetooth technology for controlling yeelight. This is achieved by incorporating java code into artik board. Technology has been developed at a high pace. Furthermore, it will never stop. Web of Things is getting to be prevalent nowadays because of putting tremendous effects on life. To structure an item utilizing current technology that ought to be gainful to the lives of others is an extraordinary test now a world. This paper exhibits cost effective technology for example ble, an artik board, yeelight, and test system simulator. The test system is utilized to control the shade of the yeelight in the scope of ble. The wireless communication has been established between the light and the board. This entire procedure will be incorporated according to popular request/response in accordance with the JSON format. The advantages of the light are it possesses low cost with less utilization of power.

Implementation of home automation using the latest technology gives us more convenience, security and safety. Smartphone affordability increases every year and smartphones have begun to play important roles in our daily lives due to their size and portability. Google’s Android operating system (OS) is one of the leading and most preferred smartphones. Controlling home appliances by using an Android phone gives users the ability to control their home appliances anywhere and at any time while at home and saves time spent in searching for the remote control unit of home automation systems since the user’s phone is usually kept close at hand. This project presents the design and implementation of a low cost prototype of a Bluetooth-based home automation system using an Android phone. The design uses an Arduino Mega 2560-R3 board and the home appliances are physically connected to input/output ports of this board via relays. Cytron BlueBee is used to establish wireless communication between them. BluetoothHome, an Android application, is developed to provide a user friendly graphical user interface (GUI) for the remote control of home appliances.

Several home automation systems have been rapidly introduced in the recent years. However, the consumer adoption of home automation systems has been immensely slow. Moreover, most home automation systems available in the market are designed for western countries and do not have certain features that are crucial for consumers in tropical countries like Malaysia. Therefore, this paper identifies the possible criteria for this slow adoption and evaluates the potential of Intel Galileo for addressing these problems. Four popular home automation technologies are analysed and surveys are conducted to identify the needs of electricity and water consumers in Malaysia. A low cost, secure, user-friendly, easily installed and flexible Intel Galileo based home automation system that caters the needs of Malaysians is presented. The system is integrated with an Android application and uses a Wi-Fi network. To demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed system, the design and prototype implementation of a basic home automation system based on the Intel Galileo is developed and evaluated based on several tests and interviews. The proposed system can be used as a reference to increase consumer adoption of home automation systems in tropical countries.

Home Automation industry is growing rapidly, this is fulfilled by the need to provide supporting systems for the elderly and the disabled, especially those who live alone. Coupled with this, the world population is confirmed to be getting older. Home automation systems must comply with the household standards and convenience of usage.Home automation is one of the major growing industries that can change the way people live. Some of these home automation systems target those seeking luxury and sophisticated home automation platforms; others target those with special needs like the elderly and the disabled. Typical wireless home automation system allows one to control household appliances from a centralized control unit which is wireless. These appliances usually have to be specially designed to be compatible with each other and with the control unit for most commercially available home automation systems.The developed system can be integrated as a single portable unit and allows one to wirelessly control lights, fans, air conditioners, television sets, security cameras, electronic doors, computer systems, audio/visual equipment’s etc. and turn ON or OFF any appliance that is plugged into a wall outlet, get the status of different sensors and take decision accordingly. The system is portable and constructed in a way that is easy to install, configure, run, and maintain. The perfect user interface still does not exist at present and to build a good interface requires knowledge of both sociology and technology fields. The problem lies with the situation of the elderly or disabled people, who cannot usually help themselves to move around, and might require external assistance. People who live alone might also need a helping hand at home. Therefore An android app controlled home automation system is designed, so that the users can perform certain tasks by just the use of their phones. Having a phone as a remote will make the system more user-friendly and portable.


In this paper, a Home Automation system based on IoT that employs the integration of cloud networking, microcontroller, smartphone and wireless communication, to provide the user with remote control of various lights, fans, and appliances within their home using their smartphone and store data onto the cloud is presented. It also has safety and security features. This system is designed to be low cost, easy to install, compatible with existing home appliances and expandable allowing a variety of devices to be controlled. We tackle the problem of high cost, use of proprietary wireless technology by various companies which are incompatible with each other, incompatibility with existing home system and difficulty of use by designing an IoT system which is based on low-cost open source technology.

The home automation is the future and important part of a house. The home automation is highly reliable in system for controlling house electrical appliances. As technologies improves the home automation system are becoming smarter and can regulate certain tasks automatically and autonomously. The home automation systems are cost effective and reduces the consumption of energy of household and cut the cost of electricity bills. In this paper a home automation system is discussed, the system controls the electrical appliance of house by using user interface device and speech recognition technology by using micro-controller device via a Bluetooth module and a mechanical relay acting as a switch for controlling electrical appliances.

The paper presents the results of the analysis of electrical switchboards computer-aided design process features. The problems of modeling and ensuring the normal temperature mode of switchboard equipment functioning for safe operation of home automation systems are investigated. The work shows that the shortcomings of existing methods and systems of monitoring make it impossible to use them for remote monitoring of the parameters of switchboard equipment due to a whole set of structural and functional features of developed objects. The main requirements for remote monitoring subsystem are compact modular design of hardware that will save space while providing the necessary functionality, low cost, and low power consumption of the components; reliable transmission of monitoring data over long distances, and data storage for further mining. The results of the development and implementation of the method of remote monitoring of electrical switchboard equipment critical parameters are presented. The possibilities of Orange opensource software using for data visualization and intellectual analysis are shown. The identified associative rules can be used for further improvement of control scenarios of the home automation system and ensure the reliable operation of switchboard equipment. The scientific significance of the work lies in the fact that the method of remote monitoring of operational parameters of electrical switchboard has been further developed based on the developed methodology for determining conditions and types of user notifications as well as the integrated usage of wireless data transmission technologies, cloud storage technologies and data mining tools. The practical significance of the obtained results is that the introduction of the remote monitoring subsystem will increase the reliability and security of the home automation system and its attractiveness to users. Further work will focus on the intellectual analysis of the data obtained based on Bayesian networks to develop and study patterns of human activity during home automation system operation to formulate recommendations for the user and specialists to improve the control scenarios of the home automation system. The general Latin American population with a physical disability or limited mobility has faced the daily basis challenge of having autonomy in home activities, with low-income or almost no-income. Needy Brazilian communities are examples of poor populations suffering from the lack of autonomy at home, aggravated by scarce financial resources. The authors developed a low-cost home automation system, aiming to assist people who live in Palmeira dos Indios city and Arapiraca city, needy communities located in the Northeast of Brazil. The system is composed of hardware and software components. The hardware comprises of microcontrollers used to actuate over electrical devices at home, while an Android application provides a simple graphical user interface (GUI) to control the devices using touch and voice commands by Bluetooth communication. They evaluated the system by implementing a home model and providing the home for four physical disability persons and one limited mobility person. They considered the system`s effectiveness, the system`s usability, and users` perceptions during the evaluation.

This paper presents a secure and reliable home automation system in order to make everyone’s life simpler and fulfil the needs of the disabled or the elderly. The paper proposes a system based on efficient smart watch that uses arduino microcontroller which is embedded with a WIFI module and enables us to control a number of home appliances such as lights, fans and others using on/off relay. In our work, the appliances need not to be smart beforehand as arduino would be externally connected to them such that the system designed would be controlled by gestures i.e. users can control the working of the appliances by moving their hand in upward or downward direction over the screen. This system is comparatively efficient and cost effective than other proposed systems in terms of scalability and reliability. Also, the proposed system has been thoroughly tested and verified in various environmental conditions.

The paper is used intended for nursing and controlling the home-grown utilizations via World Wide Web which container interconnect through home automation system through an Internet entry, by means of announcement conventions. Home automation scheme uses the hand-held or vesture diplomacies as a user boundary. This paper goals at supervisory household utilizations via Smartphone using Bluetooth as announcement etiquette and interfaced with Arduino Board. It assimilates Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor, Temperature sensor, gas sensor, Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor. At this time PIR sensor and Temperature sensors remained used for controlling the spotlight and fan. The statement through attendant permits the operator to excellent the fitting device. In the proposed organization an android app was developed to access the system wherever via Internet of things. The gas device used to designate the absorption of gas in the air. Buzzer attentive is given to warm others neighbouring home and also the possessor through internet via the smart receiver. The LDR is used to switch garden spotlight. This project provides a low cost and competent Homegrown Computerization System.
