Abstract. In the presented paper, reverse push-out test method was put forward and applied in the ultimate bearing capacity experiments of studs with concrete slab in tension. Ultimate bearing capacity experiments were carried out on 22 reverse push-out specimens composed of C50 or C40 concrete, 14MnNbq steel girder and Φ22studs. Results showed that ultimate bearing capacity of studs, pu, in tensile concrete slab is controlled by concrete failur, concrete strength, studs arragement and reinforcement ratio are the main influence factors of pu. Compared with that in compressive concrete, pu of Φ22 studs in tensile concrete is reduced about 30% averagely. According to the test results, a fitted load-slip relationship curve and a regression formula of pu for studs in tensile concrete were put forward, calculated results were in good agreement with the test results.

Relying on a practical application in pre-stressed concrete box-girder with corrugated steel web, four models of Twin-PBL shear connector are made and experimented in push-out test. The main research contents are influences for bearing capacity and load-slip relationship. The results show that: when the size of holes on the steel plate has a definite value, the connectors bearing capacity get a significantly development when the diameter of reinforced-throughout increases in the appropriate range. If the space between reinforced-throughout and holes are too small, the coarse aggregate will be prevented into the holes so as to reduce its bearing capacity. In addition, thickness of steel plate has less influence on bearing capacity of connectors. All models show similar load-slip trend and superior ductility. Finally, according to comparing and analyzing differences between calculated values from recommended formulas and measured values from tests, a new formula is deduced which can estimate the test results well. The standardization of push-out test needs further research so that Twin-PBL Shear Connectors can be widely used in project.

Based on the test data of twelve push-out specimens with different holes filling different materials, the paper compared and analyzed the capacity and the corresponding slip value of the stud shear connector. The results show that, as to the two different kinds of holes shape ,the strength of the stud shear connectors of square push-out specimens was huger than that of circular specimens with the same condition; the strength of stud shear connectors in steel-concrete composite structure was decided by the strength of concrete surrounding the shear in the holes, with increasing concrete strength, the strength of stud shear connectors improved greatly; The outputs of this study are very useful for further understanding of the characteristics of the stud,it is also expected that the results presented in this paper should be valuable for the design of the composite beams.

Deem test results from the low reversed cyclic loading quasi-static test with 2 RC columns as the basic information of secant stiffness damage of the reference column and take use of the TMS instrument in the test to artificially make the damage percentage of secant stiffness of the RC column as 33%, 50% and 66%, 6 damaged columns in total; reinforce the 6 damaged columns and 2 undamaged ones under the same conditions with AFL, through quasi-static contrast test. Test results show that it is able to effectively boost horizontal ultimate bearing capacity and ductility deformability of the RC columns with AFL for reinforcement; besides, there is a linear function relationship between horizontal ultimate bearing capacity, target ductility factor, and damage percentage of secant stiffness.

An experimental program of laboratory bearing tests was performed to characterize the bearing capacity of foundation on unsaturated granular soils. All tests were performed by pushing a circular rod on the surface of compacted sand specimens with different values of matric suction until failure. The test results show an increase in ultimate bearing capacity with increasing matric suction at low suction value but a decrease in that at high level of suction. The comparisons between the test results and simulations using the expressions proposed in this paper are presented and discussed. Good agreements are achieved for all testing values of suction.

To investigate the influence of wire mesh type, wrapped way and stress of column on the behavior of RC square columns, the experiment including an unreinforced column and 7 strengthened columns with the high strength wire mesh mortar were tested. The results were shown that the strength and axial deformation of columns reinforced by high strength wire mesh mortar were enhanced. Finally, the calculation formula for ultimate bearing capacity of the reinforced columns was given based on the test results, which agreed with the tested results well.

The high-strength bolt shear connector in prefabricated concrete slab has advantages in applications as it reduces time during the construction of steel-concrete composite building structures and bridges. In this research, an innovative and advanced bolt shear connector in steel-concrete composite structures is proposed. To investigate the fundamental mechanical behavior and the damage form, 22 static push-off tests were conducted with consideration of different bolt dimensions, the reserved hole constraint condition, and the dimension of slab holes. A finite element (FE) model was established and verified by using test results, and then the model was utilized to investigate the influence of concrete strength, bolt dimension, yield strength, bolt pretension, as well as length-to-diameter ratio of high strength bolts on the performances of shear connectors. On the basis of FE simulation and test results, new design formulas for the calculation of shear resistance behavior were proposed, and comparisons were made with current standards, including AISC, EN 1994-1-1, GB 50017-2017, and relevant references, to check the calculation efficiency. It is confirmed that the proposed equation is in better agreement with the experimental results.

Considering the strain rate then puts forward the modified uniaxial dynamic constitutive model related to strain rate in concrete-filled square steel tube and the modified calculation results match well with the experimental results. Based on the above conclusion, uniaxial compression performance finite element analysis with different strain rate among 10-5/s–10-3/s is completed, the results showed that strain rate can obviously change the dynamic performance of the concrete-filled square steel tube. Through the analysis of the influencing factors of the core concrete compressive strength, it is showed that with the increasing of the strain rate and the improving of concrete strength, the ultimate bearing capacity of concrete-filled square steel tube is higher and the ductility is reduced. With the increasing of stirrup ratio, ultimate bearing capacity is greater and the ductility is enhanced. With the sectional dimensions increasing, the ultimate bearing capacity is greater and the ductility is enhanced.

Laboratory model test results for the ultimate bearing capacity of strip and square foundations supported by sand reinforced with geogrid layers have been presented. Based on the model test results, the critical depth of reinforcement and the dimensions of the geogrid layers for mobilizing the maximum bearing-capacity ratio have been determined and compared. Key words : bearing capacity, geogrid, model test, reinforced sand, shallow foundation.

The replacement of steel stirrups with FRP stirrups in concrete structures can significantly improve the durability under severe environmental conditions, increase the service life of the structure. In some cases where the application of traditional concrete structures is restricted, such as structures that require the environment without magnetic and electric interferences, the best way is to use nonmetallic materials. Considering the unique properties compared with traditional reinforcements, FRP reinforcements is very suitable in such cases. This paper discussed the behavior of FRP stirrups used as shear reinforcement for concrete structures, continuous FRP rectangular spirals, a type of FRP stirrups, was used in the experimental investigation. Inspired by the test method suggested by ACI Committee 440, L shape specimen and U shape specimen are designed to test the tensile strength of continuous FRP rectangular spirals. Through the analysis of test results, it is indicated that the strength of the bent portion of FRP spirals is significantly lower than that of the straight portion, and the strength of FRP spirals would increase as the concrete strength or the embedment length of the bent portion increased. The loading mechanism of continuous FRP rectangular spirals embedded in concrete beams can be better represented by U shape specimen compared with L shape specimens, it is suggested by the author that the U shape specimen can be use when the dimension of FRP stirrups or spirals does not meet the requirements of ACI Committee 440 test method.
