Recently guidancesystem is becoming more popular, as more people realize its benefits. There have been many developments on campus guidance system (CGS) in personal digital assistant (PDA) and smart phone. The building and promotion of the energy efficient location determination method is an important part of CGS. The cellular-based location determination using RSS from cellular network is more immediately, power-effective, and easy to deploy and maintain than traditional methods. In this paper, we design the CGS which provides the fingerprint position algorithm (FPA) using RSS from cellular networks and location-based service (LBS) for user reference. In experiments, we compare the estimated positioning information with the real information from global position system (GPS) receiver. The results show that the error of location estimation using FPA is about 9.92 meters. This approach is feasible to be applied to CGS.

Energy-efficient and reliable data transmission is a challenging task in wireless relay networks (WRNs). Energy efficiency in cellular networks has received significant attention because of the present need for reduced energy consumption, thereby maintaining the profitability of networks, which in turn makes these networks “greener”. The urban cell topography needs more energy to cover the total area of the cell. The base station does not cover the entire area in a given topography and adding more number of base stations is a cost prohibitive one. Energy-efficient relay placement model which calculates the maximum cell coverage is proposed in this work that covers all sectors and also an energy-efficient incremental redundancy-hybrid automatic repeat request (IR-HARQ) power allocation scheme to improve the reliability of the network by improving the overall network throughput is proposed. An IR-HARQ power allocation method maximizes the average incremental mutual information at each round, and its throughput quickly converges to the ergodic channel capacity as the number of retransmissions increases. Simulation results show that the proposed IR-HARQ power allocation achieves full channel capacity with average transmission delay and maintains good throughput under less power consumption. Also the impact of relaying performance on node distances between relay station and base station as well as between user and relay station and relay height for line of sight conditions are analyzed using full decode and forward (FDF) and partial decode and forward (PDF) relaying schemes. Compared to FDF scheme, PDF scheme provides better performance and allows more freedom in the relay placement for an increase in cell coverage.

The paper discusses the effect of mobile learning on students, especially the tablets and smartphones. Theses gadgets have become a research interest of education to encourage and facilitate learning. Mobile devices assist in build closer connection between students and teachers. There are several options of mobile devices such as Ipod, personal digital assistant, smart phone, laptop or tablet PC, MP3 Players, pen drive and so on. Mobile learning involves the use of mobile technology either alone or combination with other information and communication technology (ICT). The benefits of mobile learning expand the reach and quality of education, facilitate personalized learning, power anytime, anywhere learning, provide immediate feedback and assessment, ensure productive use of time spent in classrooms, build new community of students, support selected learning, enhance seamless learning, bridge formal and informal learning, improve communication and administration, maximize cost efficiency and update policies related to mobile learning. It is concluded that the benefits overshadow the challenges. Using mobile devices allow students to extend learning beyond the classroom walls. Students are highly engaged and are able to demonstrate unique and creative way to respond to the use of technology that offers some distinctive affordance to users.

Recently, the integration of geographical coordinates into a picture has become more and more popular. Indeed almost all smartphones and many cameras today have a built-in GPS receiver that stores the location information in the Exif header when a picture is taken. Although the automatic embedding of geotags in pictures is often ignored by smart phone users as it can lead to endless discussions about privacy implications, these geotags could be really useful for investigators in analysing criminal activity. Currently, there are many free tools as well as commercial tools available in the market that can help computer forensics investigators to cover a wide range of geographic information related to criminal scenes or activities. However, there are not specific forensic tools available to deal with the geolocation of pictures taken by smart phones or cameras. In this paper, an image scanning and mapping tool for investigators is proposed and developed. This tool scans all the files in a given directory and then displays particular photos based on optional filters (date/time/device/localisation…) on Google Map. The file scanning process is not based on the file extension but its header. This tool can also show efficiently to users if there is more than one image on the map with the same GPS coordinates, or even if there are images with no GPS coordinates taken by the same device in the same timeline. Moreover, this new tool is portable; investigators can run it on any operating system without any installation. Another useful feature is to be able to work in a read-only environment, so that forensic results will not be modified. This tool's real-world application is also presented and evaluated in this paper.
