Sulfoned aromatic acid and o-phenylenediamine as the monomers, sulfoned-benzimidazole was obtained by condensation reaction. Poly(aryl sulfone benzimidazole) sulfone (PSBIS) as novel heat-resistant polymer was obtained by the condensation polymerization via Palladium-catalyzed aryl amination reaction of sulfoned-benzimidazole and aromatic dibromide. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermal analysis (TG) measurements showed that the polymer synthesized possessed high glass transition temperature (Tg>321°C), good thermal stability with high decomposition temperature (TD>540°C) and good solubility.

Poly(aryl imino sulphone)s (PAIS) as novel high-performance polymers have been obtained by the condensation polymerization of 4,4'-dibromodiphenyl solfone with different primary aromatic diamines via Palladium-catalyzed aryl amination reaction. The structure of polymers synthesized was characterized by means of FT-IR, NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis, the results showed an agreement with the proposed structure. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermal analysis (TG) measurements showed that polymers possessed high glass transition temperature (Tg>145°C) and good thermal stability with high decomposition temperatures (TD>450°C). These novel polymers also exhibited good mechanical behaviors and good solubility.

Indole-based poly(ether sulfone)s (PINESs), as novel high-performance polymers, have been obtained by the condensation polymerization of 4-hydroxyindole and hydroquinone with activated difluoro monomers via a catalyst-free nucleophilic substitution reaction. The structures of the polymers are characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and the results show good agreement with the proposed structures. Differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis measurements exhibit that polymers possess high glass transition temperature ( Tgs > 245°C) and good thermal stability with high decomposition temperatures ( Tds > 440°C). In addition, due to their special structure, PINESs are endowed with significantly strong photonic luminescence in N, N-dimethylformamide.

A new series of aniline and aniline-mixed tetrafunctional fluorene-based oxazine monomers were synthesized using 2,7-hydroxy-9,9-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl) fluorene, paraformaldehyde, and primary amines (including aniline or aniline mixed with n-butylamine or n-octylamine composition). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy were used to characterize the structure of the monomers. The copolymers were obtained by adding the monomers into a typical monofunctional polybenzoxazine (phenol-aniline-based benzoxazine). Differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and dynamic mechanical analysis were performed to study the thermal properties of the copolymers. The copolymers exhibited high glass transition temperature values (164–201°C). A good thermal stability was also obtained with a 5% weight loss temperature over 355°C and high char yields at 800°C (42–50%).

ABSTRACTA novel σ-conjugated hyperbranched polysilane is presented, and it has good solubility in common organic solvents. The photoluminescence (PL) emission spectrum of it exhibits an emission maximum at 425nm, which indicates that the polymer emits blue light. The resulting polymer also has good thermal stability and high glass transition temperature. Therefore, it demonstrates a promising application in blue light emitting diodes.

The carbazoled poly(arylene imino)s (c-PAI) have been synthesized via palladium-catalyzed polycondensation of 3,6-diamino-N-(2-ethylhexyl)carbazole with different aromatic dibromides. The structure of c-PAI were characterized by means of FT-IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis, the results show an agreement with the proposed structure. The thermal properties of c-PAI were detected by DSC and TG. The result show that the polymers possess high glass transition temperature (Tg>250°C ), good thermal stability with high decomposition temperatures (TD>410°C), In addition to the thermal properties, the optical properties were studied, including Uv-vis absorption, photoluminescence and time of flight (TOF).

Abstract A large quantity of high-quality poly[N-methyl B-methyl amino borazine] was synthesized via a solventless method from the monomer 1,3,5-trimethyl-2,4,6-tri(methyl amino)borazine. The thermal polymerization profile was investigated with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), size exclusion chromatography (SEC), gas chromatography, and mass spectrometry. A polymerization mechanism involving the condensation reaction of two –N(H)CH3 groups releasing methylamine was proposed and compared with the literature. As a result of cross-linking via the aminomethyl moiety, the cured polymer exhibited a molecular weight Mn of 790 g mol-1, glass transition temperature of 64°C, high cross-link density, and thermal stability with a decomposition temperature of 165°C. Functionalized poly[N-methyl B-methyl amino borazine] with chemical stability was fully characterized by 1H, 13C, 11B nuclear magnetic resonance, FTIR, DSC, and SEC analyses. Ultraviolet absorption spectra evidenced changes in the structure of the aforementioned oligomers.

AbstractA series of novel poly(arylene imino) containing fluorenone group (PIKF) have been synthesized via palladium-catalyzed polycondensation. The thermal properties of PIKF are detected by thermal behavior (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). UV-vis absorption spectra, photoluminescence are investigated. PIKF exhibit good thermal stability and high Tgs(>200 °C ). The optical properties of PIKF show that PIKF are interesting materials for further investigations to be presented as possible candidates for use as an electron transport layer (n-type) in multilayer LEDs.

AbstractTwo novel poly (aryl ether ketone)s with anthracene moieties in the backbone were synthesized through the conventional nucleophilic aromatic substitution polycondensation for the first time, by using a new bisfluoro monomer, 9,10-bis(4-fluorobenzoyl) anthracene (AnBF). The structures of obtained polymers were confirmed by NMR, IR and UV characterizations. The polymers have high molecular weight and show good solubility in common organic solvents. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) indicates that they are vitrified polymers with high glass transition temperatures above 188° Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) shows that these polymers have good thermal stability in nitrogen atmosphere with a 5% weight loss (TGA-5%) above 465°.
