The carbazoled poly(arylene imino)s (c-PAI) have been synthesized via palladium-catalyzed polycondensation of 3,6-diamino-N-(2-ethylhexyl)carbazole with different aromatic dibromides. The structure of c-PAI were characterized by means of FT-IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis, the results show an agreement with the proposed structure. The thermal properties of c-PAI were detected by DSC and TG. The result show that the polymers possess high glass transition temperature (Tg>250°C ), good thermal stability with high decomposition temperatures (TD>410°C), In addition to the thermal properties, the optical properties were studied, including Uv-vis absorption, photoluminescence and time of flight (TOF).

AbstractA series of novel poly(arylene imino) containing fluorenone group (PIKF) have been synthesized via palladium-catalyzed polycondensation. The thermal properties of PIKF are detected by thermal behavior (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). UV-vis absorption spectra, photoluminescence are investigated. PIKF exhibit good thermal stability and high Tgs(>200 °C ). The optical properties of PIKF show that PIKF are interesting materials for further investigations to be presented as possible candidates for use as an electron transport layer (n-type) in multilayer LEDs.

We report the synthesis of two dipolar thiazole derivatives functionalized with nitro group as electron acceptor and amino group as electron donor, in order to study their optical properties in the UV-vis range. Their structures were verified by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, HRMS and FT-IR. The resulted thiazole derivatives have good thermal stability with decomposition temperature, Td of 320.20 °C and 284 °C for compounds 1 and 2 respectively. The absorbance bands of compound 2 in the UV-vis range are more red-shifted than that of compound 1 which made compound 2 could have high potential as a great organic NLO material.

Boron-containing bisphenol-S formaldehyde resin (BBPSFR) was synthesized by formalin method. The structure and thermal properties of BBPSFR were characterized by 1H NMR, FTIR, torsional braid analysis (TBA) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively. The results showed that the borate had formed, and the six-member ring containing boron-oxygen coordinate structure also formed during the curing process. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of BBPSFR is higher 104°C than that of bisphenol-S formaldehyde resins (BPSFR); the initial degradation temperature (Ti ) increases about 43°C; thermal degradation rate decrease and thermal stability increase significantly.

A new series of aniline and aniline-mixed tetrafunctional fluorene-based oxazine monomers were synthesized using 2,7-hydroxy-9,9-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl) fluorene, paraformaldehyde, and primary amines (including aniline or aniline mixed with n-butylamine or n-octylamine composition). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy were used to characterize the structure of the monomers. The copolymers were obtained by adding the monomers into a typical monofunctional polybenzoxazine (phenol-aniline-based benzoxazine). Differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and dynamic mechanical analysis were performed to study the thermal properties of the copolymers. The copolymers exhibited high glass transition temperature values (164–201°C). A good thermal stability was also obtained with a 5% weight loss temperature over 355°C and high char yields at 800°C (42–50%).

ABSTRACTA novel σ-conjugated hyperbranched polysilane is presented, and it has good solubility in common organic solvents. The photoluminescence (PL) emission spectrum of it exhibits an emission maximum at 425nm, which indicates that the polymer emits blue light. The resulting polymer also has good thermal stability and high glass transition temperature. Therefore, it demonstrates a promising application in blue light emitting diodes.

N-substituted crosslinking polybenzimidazole pyridine sulfone, as novel high performance functional polymers, was prepared by the coordination of N-substituted polybenzimidazole pyridine sulfone (Py-N-PBIS) ligand with varying content of metallic ion (Co2+, Ni2+, Zn2+). The structures of the polymers were characterized by means of FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, and the results showed a good agreement with the proposed structures. TGA measurements exhibited that the crosslinking polymers possessed good thermal stability with high thermal decomposition temperatures (thermally stable up to 405-510 °C). Additionally, the thermal stability of the coordination polymers was improved constantly with the increasing of the content of Co2+, Ni2+ or Zn2+. The metal coordination crosslinking N-substituted polybenzimidazole pyridine sulfone could be considered as a novel high performance thermoset.

AbstractSyntheses of oligoetherols with a 1,3-pyrimidine ring and boron atoms using 6-aminouracil, ethylene carbonate and boric acid has been proposed. The structure of the obtained products were determined by instrumental methods (IR, 1H-NMR and MALDI-ToF spectra). The physicochemical and thermal properties of oligoetherols were examined. The products were characterized by high thermal stability. Based on the tests performed, it was found that oligoetherols obtained from 6-aminouracil, boric acid and ethylene carbonate are suitable for the manufacturing of polyurethane foams with improved thermal stability and reduced flammability.

Abstract In this paper, we synthesized a kind of bio-based plasticizer epoxidized linoleic acid cardanol ester(ELCE) from cardanol and linoleic acid. Its chemical structure was characterized with FT-IR and 1H NMR. Polyvinyl chloride(PVC) blends plasticized with ELCE were prepared via thermoplastic blending with torque rheometer. The performance including torque, mechanical property, thermal stability, plasticizing property and migration resistance of plasticized PVC blends were investigated and compared with plasticized PVC blends with commercial plasticizer dioctyl phthalate(DOP). The results showed that ELCE improved thermal stability of PVC blends. ELCE played more excellent plasticizing effect on PVC blends than DOP. The better solvent extraction resistance and volatile resistance of ELCE make it impossible to completely replace DOP in PVC products.

In this study, soda alkali lignin from oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB-AL) and kenaf core (KC-AL) are esterified with maleic anhydride under two different conditions, namely i) pyridine at temperature of 120°C for 3h and ii) aqueous alkaline solution at room temperature for 4h. As a result, the weight percentage gain (WPG) of the esterified EFB-AL (EFB-EL) and esterified KC-AL (KC-EL) in pyridine demonstrated a higher compared to aqueous alkaline solution. The FT-IR results of EFB-EL and KC-EL in both solvents exhibited some changes at the carbonyl and hydroxyl groups. Furthermore, the esterification process induced the carboxylic peak to appear in both alkali lignin samples. The outcome is confirmed by conducting H-NMR analysis, which demonstrated ester and carboxylic acid peaks within the spectral analysis. Finally, the TGA results showed both EFB-EL and KC-EL that are exposed to aqueous alkaline actually possessed better thermal stability and higher activation energy (Ea) compared to the esterified samples in pyridine.
