BaV2O6 photocatalyst was prepared by liquid-phase deposition method in paper and different calcination temperature effecting photocatalytic activity were investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) has been employed to characterize the as-synthesized materials. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by degradation of Methy lorange(MO) under the UV-light.It was found that as-prepared BaV2O6 with molar ratio of V5+ to Ba3+ be 2:1, pH=7 and calcinated under 500°C for 4h exhibits higher activity than any other calcination temperature. The highest degragation rate was about 65% or so in 100min.

The p-n junction photocatalysts, p-CuO (at. 0-25%)/n-ZnO nanocomposite were prepared through hydrothermal method without using any organic solvent or surfactant. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy, and UV-vis spectroscopy. The results demonstrated that the CuO/ZnO nanocomposite presented a two-dimensional morphology composed of sheet-like ZnO nanostructures adorned with CuO nanoparticles. The photocatalytic activity of CuO/ZnO with different Cu/Zn molar rations and pure ZnO synthesized by the identical synthetic route were evaluated by degrading methylene blue (MB) dye under UV-visible light irradiation. The CuO/ZnO with Cu/Zn molar ratio of 4% exhibits the highest photocatalytic activity compared that of the other photocatalysts under the identical conditions. It is mainly attributed to the increased charge separation rate in the nanocomposite and the extended photo-responding range.

Nb-doped TiO2 powders with different concentrations of Nb have been synthesized by a sol-gel method and characterized by a series of technologies including X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and UV-vis spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of Nb-doped TiO2 is evaluated by degradation efficiency of methyl orange in aqueous solution. The results indicate that the photocatalytic activity of Nb-doped TiO2 synthesized with a Nb/Ti molar ratio of 5% is higher than that of TiO2 under the visible light.

The N-doped Cu11O2 (VO4)6 photocatalyst was prepared using the sol-gel method. Techniques of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) have been employed to characterize the as-synthesized materials. During liquid phase photocatalytic degradation of Methy lorange(MO) under the UV-light, the as-prepared N-doped Cu11O2 (VO4)6 exhibits higher activity than the pure Cu11O2 (VO4)6 without doped N. It found that the N-doped Cu11O2 (VO4)6 prepared with the molar ratio of citric acid to metal inons be 2:1, N/Cu molar ratio of 12%, pH=7 and calcinated under 500°C for 4 hours was pure triclinic phase. In this conditions, the sample had highest photocatalytic activity with the photodegradation rate was about 94.42% or so in 60min under 20W ultraviolet lamp.

AbstractNanocrystalline ZnO-TiO2 (with molar ratios 9:1, 7:3, 1:1, 3:7 and 1:9) were successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method. Synthesized materials were examined with the help of X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope. Liquid petroleum gas sensing characteristics of the ZnO-TiO2 films were investigated at different operating temperatures. The ZnO-TiO2 thick film (with 1:1 molar ratio) exhibited good response toward liquid petroleum gas as compared to other investigated compositions. Further, liquid petroleum gas sensing characteristics of CuO modified ZnO-TiO2 thick films were investigated. 0.2 M CuO modified ZnO-TiO2 thick film exhibited excellent liquid petroleum gas sensing characteristics such as higher response (~ 1637.49 at 185 °C) with quick response time (~30 s), low recovery time (~70 s), excellent repeatability and stability at low operating temperature.

A simple sol-gel method using 1-butyl-3-methylimidazoliun tetrafluoroborate ([C4MIM]BF4) ionic liquid as template agent was used to prepared mesoporous magnetic TiO2/CoFe2O4photocatalysts (denoted as IL-TiO2/CoFe2O4). The photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis. The results showed that well crystallized anatase TiO2in IL-TiO2/CoFe2O4photocatalysts could be obtained when the calcination temperature was as low as 200 °C, and the phase transition temperature from anatase to rutile was increased to 800 °C. BET analysis showed that IL-TiO2/CoFe2O4was mesoporous structure. The photocatalytic activity of the samples was evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB). The results showed that photocatalytic activity of IL-TiO2/CoFe2O4was 6 times higher than that of TiO2/CoFe2O4when a low calcination temperature of 350 °C was used.

Nanocomposite Fe3O4-CuO-ZnO with different molar ratio of Fe3O4:CuO:ZnO were synthesized using sol-gel method and characterized by X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscope, UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer. The characterization results manifested that the combination of Fe3O4, CuO and ZnO nanoparticles was successful. The photocatalytic activity of nanocomposite with the molar ratio of 1:1:5 was more effective in the degradation of methylene blue under UV light irradiation than pure Fe3O4, CuO, ZnO. The role of photoactive species involved in the photocatalytic reaction was studied and found that holes play the most important role in photodegradation of methylene blue.

The shell-core structures of SiO2/ZnO nanopowders were obtained by simple two-step technique based on low-temperature crystallization from liquid phase. The influence of molar ratio of SiO2/ZnO in the reaction mixture on the morphology of obtained SiO2/ZnO nanopowders was studied. Crystalline structure of SiO2/ZnO nanocrystals obtained was proofed by the X-ray diffraction data. The average diameter of SiO2/ZnO nanocrystals was about 80~100nm according to FSEM and TEM data. It is shown that SiO2 components on the surface prevent the thermal interfusion of ZnO particles. Morphology and diameter of raw ZnO, SiO2/ZnO nanopowders prepared with molar ratio of SiO2/ZnO 0.1, 0.2, and 0.5 were almost same. When molar ratio of SiO2/ZnO was 0.5, ZnO core was coated with SiO2, and the thickness of shell was about 10nm. At the same time, SiO2 nanocrystals also formed the islands structure.

A series of Ag-Co-MCM-41 with different metal loadings have been synthesized through the hydrothermal method. All the prepared catalysts were characterized by N2 adsorption–desorption, X-ray diffraction analysis, transmission electron microscopy. The results revealed that the structure of MCM-41 was well preserved and Ag and Co have been introduced successfully into the mesoporous channels of MCM-41. The liquid-phase catalytic oxidation of styrene on these catalysts was investigated using H2O2 as an oxidizing agent and acetone as a solvent in thermostatic water bath. The influence of metal loading, the catalyst dose, temperature, time and styrene/oxidant molar ratio on the conversion of styrene and yield and selectivity of benzaldehyde was investigated. Also, the reusability of the catalysts was evaluated.
