ABC Factory is one of the companies engaged in manufacturing precast concrete in Indonesia. This company was established in 1978 under the auspices of XYZ Group Since. The products produced by ABC Factory are Precast Concrete / Prefabricated Concrete or often abbreviated as "PC". Some of the products manufactured by ABC Factory are PC. Spun Pile, PC. Square Pile, PC. Spun Pole (Electric Pole), PC. I Girder, PC. Box Girder and several other products. ABC Factory uses the Make to Order production method, so it is demanded to produce orders maximally and as efficiently as possible. In this manufacturing company, the preparation of the layout of production facilities greatly affects the production cycle time which in turn will have a major effect on the company's production capacity. for that, the company needs to redesign the layout of the PC production facility of Spun Pile with the best production flow. Based on these problems, the method used is to use the SLP (Systematic Layout Planning) method which functions to produce a layout design for production facilities that minimizes material movement distance and produces a good production flow in ABC Factory. Based on the results of the study obtained a reduction in the distance of material flow facility layout by 72.71 meters and an increase in production capacity of 138 cigarettes or 13.44% of the initial layout.

Jamaica, known in the world for her rich deposits of bauxite ore, is a small Caribbean country with an area of 10991 square kilometers and a population of just over two million individuals. This beautifu11and, which was described by Columbus as "The fairest isle that eyes have beheld" has developed a remarkably diversified manufacturing sector starting from a modest industrial base. Jamaica's manufacturing industry enjoyed a respectable growth rate of about 6 percent per annum during the good old days of the euphoric '50s and '60s. However, those bright sunny days ''when to live was bliss" were followed by the chilling winter of much subdued progress. The rise and fall of growth have aroused considerable interest among economists and policy• makers. The book under review probes the causes of this behaviour by analysing key characteristics of Jamaican manufacturing sector and tracing its path of evolution.

Abstract Dairy farm margin has continued to be a challenge for the dairy industry. Several years of challenging milk prices with limited relief from high feed costs and increasing production cost have continued to erode the net margin of US dairy farms. As dairy producers continue to operate in a challenging economic environment, discoveries are being made in various farm efficiencies to improve farm margin. Increased management intensity on all aspects of the dairy farm is resulting in the discover of and improvement of many individual efficiency factors. Key areas of economic efficiency include feed, animal reproduction, replacement animals, labor and resource allocation. Often the answer to improved efficiency involves more than just reduced production cost, but also in the improvement of production to reduce the cost per unit of milk produced. Identifying and focusing on the important factors that can improve overall farm efficiency will enable producers to weather the economic challenges. For dairy producers, one of the complications is the biology of the dairy cow and understanding how to utilize the biology correctly for improved efficiency of milk production. Improved efficiency of milk production requires attention to details in many areas of the dairy. Identifying the correct areas of deficiencies, establishing corrective plans of action and then careful evaluation of the impact of changes are all key to the overall success of improving dairy farm margins and efficiencies.

Abstract For resource reutilization and environmental protection, remanufacturing gets more and more attention in many countries. Disassembly is a critical part of traditional manufacturing industry, but the traditional disassembly operation is mainly done by workers, which is low-efficiency. Now the use of robots can improve production efficiency a lot, which involves the problem of disassembly line balancing. Due to the constraints such as product complexity and precedence relationship between tasks, when the number of tasks increases, the combination scheme between tasks increases geometrically, and conventional algorithms are difficult to solve the problems, the Disassembly Line Balancing Problem (DLBP) is generally necessary to optimize multiple objectives. In this research, the author selects a variety of intelligent optimization algorithms to resolve the complex disassembly line balancing problem in different dimensional objective space. Four representative algorithms are selected from three angles to be compared through three performance indicators. It is concluded that these algorithms have different search capabilities for different specifications and objective space. Researchers should carefully select the algorithm according to the specific disassembly problem. The appropriate algorithm should be selected according to the scale of the disassembly line problem and the number of optimization objectives in actual production practice.

This chapter considers the development of both ‘regional’ and ‘local’ funds and institutions – such as Wallimage and Pôle Image de Liège - that are designed to support local filmmaking activity and to entice projects to the city and the surrounding areas. This discussion engages with two key strands: (1) the attraction of co-production finance for ‘regional’ or ‘national’ film projects, and (2) the use of Liège as a production base. The first strand will develop the extent to which ‘regional’ film funds and institutions have production ‘knowledge’ on a local level. This is particularly the case for the Dardenne brothers, Bouli Lanners, Joachim Lafosse, Micha Wald, and Lucas Belvaux, whose films are all shot and located in the metropolitan area of Liège and are co-productions with France. The second strand. focuses on ‘runaway’ and minority-Belgian co-productions and considers how Liège has functioned as a key milieu for international co-productions, and how the city’s post-production facilities have been used for films such as De rouille et d’os (Jacques Audiard, 2012).

Lean Thinking is a methodology based on improving the efficiency of productive processes by removing non-value-added issues. This methodology was firstly applied in the manufacturing industry, but it has also been applied to many service companies, bringing very good results. In the last decade, some works have tried to research the adaptation of Lean principles and practices to teaching, especially in technology and other STEAM subjects. In this sense, the aim of this work is to deepen this new trend by establishing what issues are non-value-added (waste) ones in education and classifying these kinds of waste in order to be able to analyze how to eliminate them. For this purpose, we adapt the classification made in other kinds of processes and extend other authors’ findings regarding this topic.

Abstract In general, gas export pipeline designs have low restrictions concerning the flow assurance requirements, i. e., hydrate formation is not a great concern once processes in production platform facilities can significantly decrease the water content in the gas to be exported. Thus, these pipelines have only a small thickness of a single or multilayer anticorrosive coating and export gas at low temperatures. However, high pressures are required in order to overcome long distances and to increase the production flow rates. Large diameter gas pipelines submitted to high pressures even with low associated temperatures can be susceptible to global buckling, mainly if the pipelines are simply rested on a seabed of low resistance. This scenario characterizes strictly the gas pipelines installed in Brazilian Pre-Salt fields, where currently a relevant amount of export lines is operating in these conditions. Post-installation and operating pipeline surveys have identified marks on seabed confirming the buckle formation in some gas pipelines. In addition, axial movements of end equipment (PLETs) have been also observed. These issues require at least a verification and confirmation of the assumptions and predictions made in detailed design phase. This paper aims to present evaluations of the global buckling behavior of large diameter deepwater gas pipelines. Lateral buckles on very soft clayey seabed and displacements in ends and crossing locations are addressed in this work. Finally, numerical analyses confirm that gas pipelines structural integrity has not been jeopardized.

In this modern era, the competition among the manufacturing industry, especially in the automotive sector will become increasingly tight which causes companies need to innovate so that satisfaction of the consumer can be maintained. The production process will be an important aspect in the automotive industry to maintain the quality of products and ensure consumer demand can be fulfilled. The problems that often occur in the production process is in the form of production flow constraints caused by workload unbalanced in the assembly lines. The imbalance causes the assembly lines do not run in a cycle time that is determined, so that consumer demand can not be meet in the right amount and companies need to spend more to mitigate them. Therefore, this study was conducted to balance workload on the assembly line by using line balancing form Ranked Positional Weight (RPW) with a subsequent increase in the efficiency and productivity of assembly line that affect production process runs without any contraints.
