3D modeling, virtual assembly and motion simulation of an up-open fan gate mine skip were completed with Pro/Engineer software. During virtual design, faults of a mine skip such as static and dynamic interference can be found out prior to be made, which is helpful to optimize it. Furthermore, it is effective to shorten design period of mine skip and save development cost and improve design quality.

Real-time simultaneous multi-user (RSM) computer-aided design (CAD) is currently a major area of research and industry interest due to its potential to reduce design lead times and improve design quality through enhanced collaboration. Minecraft, a popular multi-player online game in which players use blocks to design structures, is of academic interest as a natural experiment in collaborative 3D design of very complex structures. Virtual teams of up to forty simultaneous designers have created city-scale models with total design times in the thousands of hours. Using observation and a survey of Minecraft users, we offer insights into how virtual design teams might effectively build, communicate, and manage projects in an RSM CAD design environment. The results suggest that RSM CAD will be useful and practical in an engineering setting with several simultaneous contributors. We also discuss the potential effects of RSM CAD on team organization, planning, design concurrency, communication, and mentoring.

To avoid the problem of mutual interference of moving parts and errors of assembly appears in the prototype design stage, this article is based on virtual design idea, a small snow removal vehicle has been designed based on virtual design idea, using pro/e 3 d modeling software in this paper. 3 d modes of parts of the small snow removal vehicle and virtual assembly have been completed. The mall snow removal vehicle has a throw snow impeller, a built-in worm gear reducer and a helix-collect snow set. The motion simulation has been operated. The design of the small snow removal vehicle is right according to the studying of virtual assembly and motion simulation.

The model of potato harvester was established by Solidworks software aiming to resolve the problems of low design efficiency and backwards design methods. The potatoes harvester included the chassis, the depth wheel, the dithering and elevating device, the digger blade, the universal joint, the suspension bracket, the gearbox, the tilting ring mechanism, the riddler, and so on. The virtual assembly and the simulation of potato harvester were researched by Solidworks software, and the motion and the assembly had not existed interference phenomenon when the model run the static and dynamic interference inspection. The results showed that the assembly and design of potato harvester will improve the design quality and efficiency and reduce the design cycle, and the research on the motion simulation of potato harvester will provide theoretical foundation for development and application of potato harvester.

It was achieved with the benefit of excellent molding function of CAD/CAM, to solve the designing problems of rotation center of triple eccentric butterfly valve and to improve the seal performance. The Solid Edge software is applied to analyze the process of 3D modeling and motion simulation with details, as well as check both static and dynamic interference. In this way, the reasonable eccentric angle α, cone-apex angle 2β, radial eccentricity e and axial eccentricity C of valve board are acquired. It is effective to shorten the design period of triple eccentric butterfly valve, also improve the design efficiency and quality.

On the basis of analyzing assembly process of main structural components in CA6140 lathe, 3D models for those components were established with CAD software UGNX6.0. Virtual assembly and motion simulation of the structure parts were performed with virtual technology. A set of virtual assembly system of CA6140 engine lathe was developed with programming software Visual Basic 6.0. It contains six main modules about spindle box, feed box, apron, tailstock, turret, etc. Dynamic simulation and motion simulation of the corresponding components in entity lathe can be realized, respectively. And also, mechanical structure, working principle, assembly relation between different components and motion transmission process of the lathe can be realistically reproduced with the system. This virtual assembly system not only can be used to analyze and transform old products, but also can be used in new products development, and to some extent, can be used to replace the prototype. It is an indispensable tool in the employee training and mechanical engineering activities.

This paper presents a knowledge-based system capable of giving the designer quality support when making decisions from the aspect of modeling the reinforcement of a plate-press within a position of maximum compressive load, and by choosing suitable material for the plate. Based on the selected combination of reinforcement and material, this system acquaints the user with the size and position of the largest comparative stress, and the greatest nodal displacement in the load-direction. This system operates based on the implemented knowledge of experts in the execution of design, material selection, and numerical analysis based on the finite-element method (FEM), which was written with the help of parameters within the knowledge-base of the CATIA V5 CAD-system. Using this system gives the user an opportunity to reach conclusions that are crucial for designing a plate-press or pressure-loaded die-elements, in general. The results reveal that the system can dramatically shorten design time and improve design quality in comparison to manual design process.

Taking the compound gear trains as an example, the principle of the transmission mechanism was analyzed, and the rotational speed of the key gears in the compound gear trains was calculated by using the calculation formula of transmission ratio to obtain the simulation parameters of UG movement. The gear tool box in UG was applied to complete the modeling and meshing assembly of the bevel gear and spur gear, the rotation pair and gear pair was to motion simulation, the gear transmission state could have visually observed by motion simulation, and then the chart was analyzed to verify the design rationality of the gear train.
